I think they cracked the code with Mana Crypt in LCI. Do flashy versions that are impossible to pull, so that if anything it increases the value of said cards.
The RC banning straight to Commander cards was great, actually. Isn’t that exactly the problem Modern players have right now? That straight to Modern cards are too pushed. The RC banned three cards explicitly designed for Commander (Nadu, Dockside, Jewelled Lotus), that’s good for everyone who wasn’t financially over invested in those cards. Mox Opal wasn’t banned because it’s being reprinted jfc. It’ll be reprinted mid to later 2025 at the earliest because that’s the timeline WOTC works on.
Yes. I do think it's a great ideal to tell your customers but when they don't it builds more fomo hype and has more ppl interested in the cases. Allows the "chase" when they do reprint
@@bkyang624 because they lose out on selling packs with those cards. But we just had some unbannings...and they left it as is. Which leans into them using Opal as a headliner to try and get Modern player dollars.
I disagree. I don't think they should announce when they will reprint it. I think it should be assumed that it will get reprinted at some point. But how strong of a reprint will be the question.
Crazy days! To me, the Pokémon fomo + rudy prodding + the about face on print sizes, no goto amazon undercutting - has created this environment of wave riding. Won't last and it's a big 50/50 gamble of high risk reward and failure - hate it for either side folks land on as neither is good
With the exception of the Secret Lair which contained the Titans from Theros Beyond Death, WotC doesn't give advanced notice on bans. And they sure the heck aren't ever going to disclose when a card is going to be reprinted. While I agree that Opal is goig be a headliner in an upcoming set, there's so much weird about this video. DO NOT BUY THE HYPE. And no..Commander doesn't save banned cards. People who want One Ring in their decks, generally already have it...and if a quarter million playsets (hyperbole) come to market you end up needing a million unique buyers to offload the stock. Sure, some folks might buy multiples...but it's an example. And people that play multiple formats likely kept the copies they're going to play, and are looking to offload the rest.
sometimes their actions are not so weird if you remember they always are looking for reprint equity 😂😜

I need a montage of nothing but Louie mispronouncing and making up words. "Box-eye" 🤣
That would be a looooong video

To be fair, it wasn’t WOTC that banned the commander cards when Festival in a Box came out. It was the RC who aren’t directly affiliated with WOTC.
WotC had advanced knowledge of those cards being banned however, and included those packs regardless. That's the hinky bit.
They also highly discouraged the RC from going through with it and advised against it.
