It's so refreshing to see metal detector videos with "real" finds. I have seen a lot of videos where people find planted "treasures." I'm headed out tomorrow for 4 days of detecting with my Legend and oversized coil.
Just had my Legend arrive at the house - this video has me so excited(!) even though I'll have to travel a bit farther than I'd like to hit a good beach. Your combo of metal detecting and teaching moments priceless. I sold my NOX 800 after I preordered the Manticore and I have and love my Deus II. My Deus II has found a lot of silver that my NOX missed? Glad for you Merrill with the three gold rings, and the silver coins.

I’ve had some good success on the beaches here in Australia with the CTX but not so much with the Legend. I have had some good hunts on land with the Legend, however each time I try to use the Legend at the beach I end up going strait back to the CTX as I can never seem to get the thing as stable. It would be great if you could do a follow up video showing us in detail the settings you use at the beach on the Legend. Love you videos mate 👍Keep them coming!
It's amazing how in two years time gold prices have doubled. Past summer, I found an 18 kt gold bracelet 12.3 grams with my vanquish 540. Gold weight worth $790. ish I had a great summer in Florida on the beach. I went for value and bought a $268. Mine lab Xterra pro. I'm Not disappointed. Your iratemetaldetectors is spot on, Merrill. I've yet to go into the water, I need to buy a scoop someday. Happy detecting. Enjoy your channel tremendously.
@@MetalDetectingNYC I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a CTX on Ebay with a year of warranty left. I have the 800, Deus 2 ,and an Etrac. Always thought I should have gotten the CTX but I am liking the Deus 2 as the go to detector. The 800 is awesome as is the Etrac - taking it out for a little night hunt at the local convent in a few min as it pounds the silver. Watched your video on the "Don't do it, don't buy an old detector" which was pretty interesting. I have every detector I every purchased/built including some old Whites. The CTX just went for 1299 and I was thinking, the CTX is a killer but with the older tech is it $1300 worth, I kinda think not at least to me having a full arsenal of detectors. It's like the shinny new penny syndrome. Keep up the great content.
Awesome, congrats brother!!!!!!!!I I bought a legend in may as a backup to my Nox and it has became my go to machine and I'm running the 107 update. Tried the 109 and didnt find anything,I may try the 109 again later but I can tell ya I got over 40 pieces of silver and 2 gold rings out of a hunted out swimming hole with the 107.
That was awesome the way you broke things down. Down is where prospectors look for nuggets. If you think about it logically, pure gold is 19 times heavier than water. So the deeper we go in our quest for it, the bigger the pieces are, Usually. Some places are not known for big gold. Good instructions. BeAutiful gold with an Ausome lesson. Thanks Merrill!
So to add to your poll yesterday, I meant that comment. You as a content creator and a teacher you cover so much more than "hey look what I found this is old". You take the time to explain and dissect what we are looking at and how it is relevant to conditions. I have paid attention to soil conditions and noticing new, old and fill dirt. We don't have any beaches in close proximity, but I would apply the same info.
What a awesome hunt , I am here in Malaysia as I text to you and I am from UK 🇬🇧. I am having identical conditions, Rocks appearing max low tide out, on a tropical beach here in Malaysia, been metal detecting since 1984 , all the stuff you mention about fishing weights and powder look are all the signs of sand removed from the said area . Fantastic fun this morning , found a cracking 916 diamond cluster ring ❤, 35 coins , spent cartridges, fishing weights , army dog tag and a Buddha pendant. Really enjoyed your video content . I use the Equinox 800 , With 15 inch coil Keep the good work up and the videos rolling 👏👏👍
I bought my Legend in June and since then in the first Month i found 2 x 22k and a 14k Gold rings. In the almost 4 Months i have had 3 Gold, 22 Silver rings, 2 other Silver bits and £416 UK. Total so far this year so far is £951, 5 Gold rings, 1 Gold Pendent, 53 Silver rings, 10 Silver chains/bracelets, a few other bits of Silver. I rate the Legend highly and it now is my main beach machine along with my E.Trac. I won't use the Deus 11 on the beach. Thats for land where it's doing its best to find Medieval and Roman coins for me. 3 Hammered coins and 1 Roman 1900-year-old Trajan Denarius so far. Were i to have another Nox, that would be a very fair-weather machine for dry away from surf beach machine. I don't rate its target info for trash and as we all know the beaches and tides wait for no man. The Legend is better for target info and in most places, depth is not an issue. Well done on the rings. I've never had a 3 Gold ring day.

great hunt! opportunity knocks, u answer the door! last year, we had a drought year and all the lakes were super low. i hit an old beach where it was all exposed to the rocks and clay. I pulled amost 400 old coins and 30 old silvers out of those rocks. tonnes of nails and old iron but the equinox spanked em out! awesome hunt! you got the same amount of gold i got all year in one day lol.
Wow, you had a huge day. That 18k ring was awesome. I think the Equinox 800 is amazing. I have so much fun with mine and I've found a lot of cool stuff. I have a gold bracelet that I found and silver coins. Also some sterling jewelry and maybe $300 in clad coins. All that and I've never been to the beach yet. A weird detectorist story: The only 3 Mercury dimes I've dug up were all 1944 and I pulled a 1944 quarter real close to one of them and probably a spill.

Wow what an awesome day. I wish the beaches where I am had that concentrating action, we just don't get the storms and wave action very much. But there's the odd sweet spot I've found where it happens on a smaller scale.

That’s what I’m talking about! But you know Merrill, what was the final factor that sold me on the Deus 2 was the ergonomics, the light weight. Ever since the old days when I had a Tesoro, I have wanted to get back to less weight to swing around. We had a club competition hunt the other day. The first hunt I used the Deus. The second I switched to the old AtPro because the Deus was too sensitive for such a hunt even in mono frequency. When I started swinging the Garrett with the stock coil, it felt like swinging a sledge hammer! I seriously thought about buying the Legend but had some issues with the Multi Kruzer just after warranty like internal battery went out then flooding. But it did great in England finding a cut quarter hammered, a small Roman bronze and a small gold stud. Like you have said, that company is rising fast to the top, just a matter of time.
Merrill, congrats on your incredible beach hunting day. I've found two gold rings (ONE TIME) on Clearwater beach, but never had a 3 gold ring day. I love seeing rocks and the gravel strips/bars because it seems to hold rings (and lead weights). One thing you really need to think about when swinging the coil around rocks is damaging the coil. I cracked the inner shielding on my coil a while back. My detector had a problem from erratic behavior and I sent it in and it wound up being damage to the coil. I cracked the inner shielding which allowed the magnetic field to drift which made keeping it stable impossible because it wasn't able to stay balanced. After they told me what happened I thought back about the hunts with this detector and I did remember when I smacked the coil pretty hard and it was never right since that day. The inside of the coil is painted with this shielding paint and if it gets a crack the coil will never work at its best. A way to think about it is how antique paint looks like an alligators skin. If the shielding that lines the inside of the 2 halves of the coils outer shell before they attach them together gets cracked it's done and it's almost always never noticable. It's always thought of as the detector acting up or it's EMI. A quick way to test is to swap coils if you have another one. That or you send it in and they will test it for shielding problems. Most people will go on hunting until they decide to change to a new detector. Epoxy filled coils are better at not cracking this thin layer of paint in the coils body cover. I guess that's what you call it. Or the shell??? But this is something to seriously take in mind and not crack the coil on rocks so hard it can be a silent killer

Fantastic video, ive just got an xterra pro after many years of using a cheapy Seben extreme that worked surprisingly well, i think i may well get an Equanox if i can get on with the Xterra, i have not taken the Xterra out yet. I found a 2 thousand pound gold bangle with the cheap Seben a few years back on a beach.

We have storm season that's going to open up some cuts as they always have but the North East has had a lot of erosion the last couple of years and the winter months are when we get these blow out tides maybe it's gonna be a real good year on the surf
If you wearing the headphones you can put the Bluetooth on number 2 and you be able to hear both headphones and the speaker on the unit which works perfect for making videos , the audience can hear the tones as well

Love your videos May I ask about the settings you were using that found the rings. I'm New to the Legion and in Northwest Pa have only been able to get out 2 times both very short hunts. 10 to 15 mins each. 1st hole was a junk kid's mood ring a few coins and 2 pull tabs. 2nd time out a penny and a dime. Just short hunts are all. the weather here stinks!

Hi from Canada, Merrill. Looking to buy a new detector and retire my X-Terra 705. Thought I would be getting a NOX 800 but now not sure after watching this video. Have you tried to detect Canadian coins to see if they ring in or rejected in discrimination. Wondering which would be the best for Canadian coins.........thanks
I have dug a few that have an iron core. Occasionally they sound conductive based on the outside shell. You can’t go wrong with an equinox or a legend.
I'm in Florida. I love the beach, but we have a lot of guys in condos with detectors to compete with here. What is your next favorite place to metal detect other than beaches.
Its just that! Legend at 635 is the VASTLY superior value to the Deus 2. But the Deus 2 separates better in iron and goes a touch deeper.... and can be configured in so many ways. That is what I have to show.

As you said, this is an hobby that payback soon or later, but in this video you made a payback record with the legend, it completely payd back it's price. I'm sure it is a mix of location, experience, machine and luck, but compared to other machines you will need less time and luck :) Now I'm strongly considering updating my Simplex to it.

If you wearing the headphones you can put the Bluetooth on number 2 and you be able to hear both headphones and the speaker on the unit which works perfect for making videos , the audience can hear the tones as well

Love your videos May I ask about the settings you were using that found the rings. I'm New to the Legion and in Northwest Pa have only been able to get out 2 times both very short hunts. 10 to 15 mins each. 1st hole was a junk kid's mood ring a few coins and 2 pull tabs. 2nd time out a penny and a dime. Just short hunts are all. the weather here stinks!

Have you tried to detect Canadian coins to see if they ring in or rejected in discrimination. Wondering which would be the best for Canadian coins.........thanks
I have dug a few that have an iron core. Occasionally they sound conductive based on the outside shell. You can’t go wrong with an equinox or a legend.

You need to give an honest comparison of the legend and the deus now after all of the updates. I think the legend will hold its own.
Its just that! Legend at 635 is the VASTLY superior value to the Deus 2. But the Deus 2 separates better in iron and goes a touch deeper.... and can be configured in so many ways. That is what I have to show.
Wait until the Manticore comes out, it will separate better than even the equinox and do everything else better than the rest.
