Thanks for the honest, no shill reviews Alan. It’s great to have these reviews and have a laugh at the same time. Have watched a heap of your videos and have certainly learned a lot from them. I don’t think I have good ears but now understand that’s a good thing for spending money on speakers. Also learned about stereo, marketing fluff, lack of aux inputs and more. I was after something that looked at home in a living room, had TWS, aux inputs, sounded decent (for the average person). The only downside is that many of the best budget speakers aren’t easily available in Australia or good, cheap speakers have changed since they’ve been released. Had looked at some larger speakers like JBL encore or W-King but they were a little too large or the newer builds weren’t as good as the originals. Ended up getting a pair of Sony XG300’s on sale, they fit my needs. They sound best in TWS at volumes above 50% and fit my needs. Thanks Alan! Oh and some future videos ideas..? The dark side of being an audiophile? (Everything gets more expensive, ignorance is bliss?) Audio myths and facts Setting up Bluetooth speakers for left right stereo aux to a TV (I didn’t see this on TH-cam and only really found the answer on old forum posts). Again thanks Alan and hopefully you can buy a pint on me.
many thanks for the tip 👌 its nice to get some thanks once in a while 😁 yeah ideas for videos isnt the issue to be honest, its finding the time altogether, i have way too many commitments outside of TH-cam. it would be great to being doing daily videos but its not gonna happen sadly. honestly if i can manage a video every two weeks im doing well 😂😂 ive mentioned many times the more you know the harder it will be to find a decent a speaker because the chase is never ending and each unit better costs many more times per unit increment 😢

One thing really odd that I noticed (and it may not even be real) is that after the update, the default sound was not much different but after the update, my custom eq appeared to have much more of an affect on the sound than before the update. Unfortunately that was all subjective as I had no recordings or anything from before the update. The rather ironic thing though is the update broke my Lights. Every 1.5 seconds or so, it just flashes at full brightness regardless of what is going on in the music.

Thank you for another insightful and entertaining video! It seems to me that the companies that have decent EQs in the app figure you will tweak it for yourself anyway, so they don’t even try to get the perfect preset. I wish they would though.
Got me hands on the Soundcore BP2 finally. Wow!! At full volume it is impressive that much sound comes out of this thing. Also it is still very clear at max volume. the sound in the review videos do it no justice you need to hear it in person. The videos are still useful of course. I don’t even want to change the sound out of the box it’s perfect for me. A+ to Soundcore here saves me from buying overpriced JBL. Like you said Alan if you like lots of mid bass job done. Job done indeed.
And i just forgot all she said😅 Nice, wonderful, entertaining & educating vid as usual, can't still challenge the world champ yet on deep bass, how disappointing! Alan what's the best all rounder small travel speaker in the size of around charge 5, boost etc that's around $50/$60 with a warm lovely deep bass, my main usage will be for office desk usage while working(something that will have full rounded deep bass warm sound at very low volume say 20%), little outdoor fun, travel friendly, most listening volume will be around 20 - 60% I could have gone for the boost going with your recommendation as i can currently get it for $45 but then with what's happening with Soundcore's old vs new products as it happened with boom, I'm not that convinced on buying Soundcore products for now till proven otherwise More power to you Alan! there is nothing like the boost for size and money unless you play near max volume where it has issues because it keeps hold of its bass at the cost of audio elsewhere. the uboom l might be an option now it has app support and custom eq.

I think soundcore makes great products but the issue for me is the USBC charging unfortunately when the battery goes and at some point it will go. You won't be able to use the speaker anymore you'll have to do one of two things take it to someone who can open it up or do it yourself and that's a lot of hassle whereas with the tribit I just used the plug from now on

You're the only tech reviewer I fully trust, largely because you don't take yourself too seriously or use clickbaity tactics - loved the TH-cam thumbnails comment 😂 that stuff drives me mad. Hey Alan, thanks a lot for the update! It's an Important mission to keep consumers updated AFTER the initial launch, you provide us with those! May i ask you a question regarding different speakers? Usually i have a mission when looking for new speakers. Hifi sound, deep bass or pound for buck. But currently i am looking for something different. The most sound out of the smallest speaker, (almost) no matter the price. I contrast to other speakers, i want good portability with max sound. Basically the best "size to sound" ratio which includes more speakers i wouldn't have looked into before. I already have the revolve 1 in this category, and even though it is a single driver speaker, it doesn't disappoint me in that regard, pleasent sound, loud and for the size amazing (too expensive but hey) Another one I didn't have the chance to try yet is the smaller devialet speaker, but that one is more than expensive and also a little bigger. Whats your opinion on my mission, do you have some advice? Thank you in advance :)
I’ve been listening to this speaker for a bit and I think you’re right, it’s got problems EQ can’t solve. To my ear, it lacks sensitivity compared to the Motion Boom Plus, and that’s why the mids and highs are lacking or shrill when boosted.
Do you know anything about the Soundcore Boom 2 SE? It looks like the Soundcore Boom 2 but the speaker layout and the watts are the same as the Motion Boom. So no tweeters on the SE and not lights. Only available at Walmart in the US
i've got one: it isn't an awful deal on rollback, and i was able to EQ it more to my liking (lots of bass with carefully sculpted mids and highs). for context, i mainly listen to rock, indie, electronic, and the occasional experimental piece. i think the fact that the SE shares the same speaker layout as the original motion boom is its biggest advantage, as it is able to actually showcase a somewhat cohesive stereo image, unlike the boom 2, where the single woofer and two tweeter setup renders music taking advantage of the stereo field in a somewhat odd manner
Thanks a lot for the great reviews about the Boom 2 plus. I have this and the Stormbox blast at home and will send one back. What I hear from the speaker reflects your review on 100%. Soundcore sounds a bit muddy somehow. Since it just came out, do you think that they soundcore can get rid of „muddiness“ by firmware updates or would you say that has rather something to do with the speakers itself? I’m definitely more into look, feel, app and weight of the soundcore, tbh. Price for both is about the same currently on Amazon in Germany.
I just did the same with these two. ~$35 price difference during Prime Days. Ended up returning the Blast- to my (untrained) ears, clarity was better on the Soundcore at volumes
What is then the strongest (better?) competitor for this Soundcore Boom Plus 2. I'm owning 2 Motion Booms (old true version - really like it) and now looking for something one size bigger...
Current version of motion booms is not worthy? Its like 120 a pair of them and im considering it... I only have a 3 years ago soundcore motion + and im very happy with it
@@rafatorr407 according to Alan's review they changed material and tuning of passive woofers, which led to a very different sound. I love my old motion booms - they are sounding deep and clear for that type/size of speakers. But unfortunately I'd not go for the 2024 revision, which can't sound as deep as older revision.

@@rafatorr407 Anker, I think, just cutting costs to get maximum from that popular model. Thought it is a self-destroying strategy for the brand, in my opinion.
Honestly even if you shout and do some crazy stuffs on video base on all of your reviews you're one of the few content creators about speakers that says the honest reviews on speakers I watch one other creator become biased on one brand because they're getting paid by that brand there's a lot of good speakers out there where they put bad image on other brands just because of their sponsorships

last time that happened, lots of fanfare but few reviews was the rocksteady which was a huge disappointment because i think the early reviews and tests were not with the production units.

@@alanrossreviews idk, maybe it could be a video idea, i got a marshall stockwell 2, thinking it would sound awesome at lower volume and wanted to use it in a bathroom, but its impossible to do so tbh, the low bass hum reverb is crazy, it totally ruins the music, i tried to EQ it out, but its still there and is annoying, idk if its their "stereo" dsp thing making it worse or just everything coming together in an echoey room, can you suggest some bathroom/shower friendly speakers or maybe even make a video about the best ones for that use case? thanks Alan for the reply, have a great day!
I was with in Mallorca to visit some family and I was wondering why I just watch at the beach the old one Modell the Motion boo. Plus and the boom 2.. good then I'm still keeping the boom 2. Sad what just happened with soundcore... They need u at the tunning. 😅

@@alanrossreviews ahh ic, how about the Huawei Sound X 2021 version with the led's. Its a collab with devialet and I own one and a mania and it performs quite a lot better than the mania in every way even though it's only 80w compared to the 176w of the mania. It's not for sale officially in the US but it's obtainable on ebay for a much lower price than the mania if you wanna test it out. It has a dedicated sub built in, much more impressive than a harman kardon aura and bass goes super deep and punchy while having super clear mids and highs when you change the eq to Devialet Mode in the app. It will should blow u away compared to the Huawei Sound Joy. Im gonna upload a comparison video with the devialet mania soon if you wanna have a listen to justify my claims:) 😂 it's definitely worth getting a unit for the Huawei sound x 2021

Do you always use an Android phone when listening to Soundcore speakers? I ask because many Android phones have a terrible AAC implementation, and they will use it with speakers that support it, like most of the Soundcore lineup. Other speakers that are SBC-only often sound better with these Android phones just for that reason. Just wondering if that could be influencing your testing here. Love the channel!

Is there a big change in the lighting effects? Does it synce more to the beat of music rather than randomly show lighting with a slight lag? Are the lights smoother when in use, or do they look glitchy. What are your thoughts
Then you dont need to watch the reviews here. The 310s will shit on any speaker reviewed by Alan, period. I had a 310s back then, and I heard the 320. Nothing to shout about, the upgrade route would be the 710 or Ultimate.

Don't worry this year or next year the brand nothing it's going to make a speaker or an smart one with AI, and they really hear the community... And fix the bugs as soon as possible and all this stuff.. I got a phone from them and it's really gut.. I recommend the standard one way 90% the people doesn't need more that this phone offer for 250 books

I read that you can turn the lights off by double pressing the Bass Up button. That was a deal breaker for me if you couldn't turn it off.

for me i tested custom before and after and it had the same change as default

i think its the way they tune these speakers, based on feedback from beta testers who have volunteered for the job. not a good cross section sample.

Hey Alan, thanks a lot for the update! It's an Important mission to keep consumers updated AFTER the initial launch, you provide us with those! May i ask you a question regarding different speakers? Usually i have a mission when looking for new speakers. Hifi sound, deep bass or pound for buck.
But currently i am looking for something different. The most sound out of the smallest speaker, (almost) no matter the price.
I contrast to other speakers, i want good portability with max sound. Basically the best "size to sound" ratio which includes more speakers i wouldn't have looked into before.
I already have the revolve 1 in this category, and even though it is a single driver speaker, it doesn't disappoint me in that regard, pleasent sound, loud and for the size amazing (too expensive but hey)
Another one I didn't have the chance to try yet is the smaller devialet speaker, but that one is more than expensive and also a little bigger.
Whats your opinion on my mission, do you have some advice? Thank you in advance :)
its a minefield, im not going there 😝 everyones idea of best bagn for buck is different. for me the blast was the best compromise.

I’ve been listening to this speaker for a bit and I think you’re right, it’s got problems EQ can’t solve. To my ear, it lacks sensitivity compared to the Motion Boom Plus, and that’s why the mids and highs are lacking or shrill when boosted.

Do you know anything about the Soundcore Boom 2 SE? It looks like the Soundcore Boom 2 but the speaker layout and the watts are the same as the Motion Boom. So no tweeters on the SE and not lights. Only available at Walmart in the US

i've got one: it isn't an awful deal on rollback, and i was able to EQ it more to my liking (lots of bass with carefully sculpted mids and highs). for context, i mainly listen to rock, indie, electronic, and the occasional experimental piece. i think the fact that the SE shares the same speaker layout as the original motion boom is its biggest advantage, as it is able to actually showcase a somewhat cohesive stereo image, unlike the boom 2, where the single woofer and two tweeter setup renders music taking advantage of the stereo field in a somewhat odd manner
we need a video on perceived loudness with examples
the problem with that is the loudness will be totally dependent on the end user volume, kind of defeating the whole point 🤦♀️

Thanks a lot for the great reviews about the Boom 2 plus. I have this and the Stormbox blast at home and will send one back. What I hear from the speaker reflects your review on 100%. Soundcore sounds a bit muddy somehow. Since it just came out, do you think that they soundcore can get rid of „muddiness“ by firmware updates or would you say that has rather something to do with the speakers itself? I’m definitely more into look, feel, app and weight of the soundcore, tbh. Price for both is about the same currently on Amazon in Germany.
I just did the same with these two. ~$35 price difference during Prime Days. Ended up returning the Blast- to my (untrained) ears, clarity was better on the Soundcore at volumes

Current version of motion booms is not worthy? Its like 120 a pair of them and im considering it... I only have a 3 years ago soundcore motion + and im very happy with it
@@rafatorr407 according to Alan's review they changed material and tuning of passive woofers, which led to a very different sound. I love my old motion booms - they are sounding deep and clear for that type/size of speakers. But unfortunately I'd not go for the 2024 revision, which can't sound as deep as older revision.

@@rafatorr407 Anker, I think, just cutting costs to get maximum from that popular model. Thought it is a self-destroying strategy for the brand, in my opinion.
Honestly even if you shout and do some crazy stuffs on video base on all of your reviews you're one of the few content creators about speakers that says the honest reviews on speakers I watch one other creator become biased on one brand because they're getting paid by that brand there's a lot of good speakers out there where they put bad image on other brands just because of their sponsorships

@@alanrossreviews idk, maybe it could be a video idea, i got a marshall stockwell 2, thinking it would sound awesome at lower volume and wanted to use it in a bathroom, but its impossible to do so tbh, the low bass hum reverb is crazy, it totally ruins the music, i tried to EQ it out, but its still there and is annoying, idk if its their "stereo" dsp thing making it worse or just everything coming together in an echoey room, can you suggest some bathroom/shower friendly speakers or maybe even make a video about the best ones for that use case? thanks Alan for the reply, have a great day!

@@alanrossreviews ahh ic, how about the Huawei Sound X 2021 version with the led's. Its a collab with devialet and I own one and a mania and it performs quite a lot better than the mania in every way even though it's only 80w compared to the 176w of the mania. It's not for sale officially in the US but it's obtainable on ebay for a much lower price than the mania if you wanna test it out. It has a dedicated sub built in, much more impressive than a harman kardon aura and bass goes super deep and punchy while having super clear mids and highs when you change the eq to Devialet Mode in the app. It will should blow u away compared to the Huawei Sound Joy. Im gonna upload a comparison video with the devialet mania soon if you wanna have a listen to justify my claims:) 😂 it's definitely worth getting a unit for the Huawei sound x 2021

not really, very different type of speaker. i wouldnt do serious listening on the x20 but then iw ould pick up the x20 for a party and not the blast.

Do you always use an Android phone when listening to Soundcore speakers? I ask because many Android phones have a terrible AAC implementation, and they will use it with speakers that support it, like most of the Soundcore lineup. Other speakers that are SBC-only often sound better with these Android phones just for that reason. Just wondering if that could be influencing your testing here. Love the channel!
yes i always point this out. but if manufacturers make aac default then thats how i test, how most people will listen.
So, to conclude, it is slightly less muddy, but not by a lot. The passive radiators still diffuse the deeper bass and an EQ can't fix it? 😂
well i am just saying a good eq will take time (if its possible) as changing the overall tone is a juggling job
