    Personally, I just trust the Ranger platform more. It’s an international vehicle, and it’s basically the Tacoma equivalent in AUS; it crushes the competition in sales. The outgoing Ranger was very good.

    I think you misuse the phrase "that's where the market is going to". When manufacturers decide en masse to only offer certain options, it's definitely not indicative of the market. You can't decide if the market wants a mid size pickup with a v6 if none is offered...

    I was recently at the San Diego auto show and got to sit in all of the current midsized trucks. I am normally a Ford guy and was super excited for the new gen ranger, however, the Colorado had more room in the back seat than any other mid-size and the cabin made the most sense. Most of the modern engines are comparable in their segment and price point for the mid size truck. Going into this my choice would have been. Ranger, Tacoma, Colorado, Frontier. After the show the Colorado was the clear winner.

    • @BROCK_WARHAMMER
      @BROCK_WARHAMMER 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@robertopics xlt comes standard with full led lighting. The headlights just aren’t the “performance led projectors”. And maybe the fog lights aren’t led I’m not sure on that. Also, I don’t trust the new gm 4 cylinder, especially the high output version. That engine is being pushed too hard and gives worse or same mpg than either of the engines offered by ford in its high output variant. The 2.7 will easily be made into the best engine with simply an aftermarket tune. Those 2.7 ecoboosts can be tuned stock to 350+hp and 450+tq at the same time gaining better mpg. The Z71 is okay but for the way I built one out I will be wasting money on the ridiculous package bundles that have to have everything for the one option I want. It ended up at 49,700 for what I wanted, while the ranger ended at 46,700 and will probably be closer to 48,000-48,500 with the 2.7 when it’s available to spec into the build. Now if we start looking at the LT fully built out with all the led upgrades and everything, then it becomes more on par price wise at 48,200 for my wants. But at that price it wouldn’t be worth not going to the z71 for 1500 more. I wouldn’t get leather seats with the xlt, but I’ve never cared about seat material and seat covers exist. I’d like the trail boss but you can’t get an led lighting upgrade in any package so it would have to be done aftermarket which would be expensive

    When I learned Gm removed the actual light switch, I welcome it. Felt like I was the only one in the world 😂 but I’m new to GM so everything seem odd at first. My 2012 and 2014 vehicles have auto light setting and I maybe touched it half a dozen times since ownership. I also have a vehicle with all the function in the infotainment screen and it’s easy to adapt or you use voice commands. Folks were throwing a fit no homelink but that’s an easy fix, voice command thru phone app/setting which makes it even easier. The shifter moved further right seems odd at first but I come to find it’s more natural for me after some seat time.
    I get it as to each their own and some people like the same and what works for them timelessly.
    While we have yet to see the new Ranger, it was on my list with the Australian release giving us an early look. The specs didn’t add up for me for the exterior as you pointed out on the video. I driven a 2022 Canyon and find the interior room a sweet spot in size and disappointed the 2023 canyon interior shrunk despite exterior dimension grew. Ford did it right interior space wise. GM knocked it out of the park with interior and cockpit design.
    In the end, we pick one that best suits us.

    -- Ford Ranger 10 speed transmission has been known to be troublesome. In fact, two family members had 2019 Rangers, and the transmission was horrible on each of them before they got rid of them. (Slamming into gear..."hunting" for the right gear even on highways..."sticking" into a high gear when it should have gone to a lower gear...etc.)
    -- Chevy Colorado -- Electronics are glitchy on this truck. Infotainment system is laggy...slow to react to screen taps...some settings don't "remember' their new locations. Blind Spot mirror indicators illuminate at random times with no vehicles on either side of the truck.

    Isn't the Bronco on the same chassis as the Ranger? I'm guessing that the power output of the engines would be comparable as they are sharing the same engines as well. Then again, there is tuning that may change the hp and torque rating for the Ranger.

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes they set up the engines the same, sometimes not when they consider what they call the "duty cycle" of the customer. For example, they could change out some of the engine parts and tune the Ranger differently to be better at towing than the Bronco since they think more people will do that. Just hard to say.

    I think you pulled a BS move adding that last option to the Colorado to make it cost more than the Ranger. The Colorado is a better looking truck, but I have ZERO desire for a turbo 4 banger in a truck. That 2.7L V6 option for the Ranger would make me buy the Ranger over the Colorado, although I'm not crazy about a turbo on a V6 truck either. Just freaking build a 4.3L V6 with no turbo, they get the same gas mileage. Hate the engine direction these midsize trucks are going with now.

    Funny when you have the specs side x side like that you notice things. Like how does the Chevy Trailboss have a 2" lift but ground clearance is only .2" better than Ford with no lift. And the Ford has better breakover departure angles as well. Chevy barely beats it in approach. And somehow, the Ford is shorter with better headroom! Yep, gotta give it to the Ford engineers on that one, well done.

    I don’t think it’s a good move for GM to not offer a 2 speed transfer case on the 4WD LT model. Didn’t even realize you get that offered at the Trail Boss and higher trims. I think this will cause the XLT to eclipse the LT in sales. I think the Z71 is the best package and the trail boss is the best value. I don’t think I could buy a 4WD truck without a “low” range. Never needed it, just doesn’t seem complete without it to me.
