Ali also inherited her Dad's writing style. She put together a book of interviews just as her Dad did with his book of interviews with drummers, "The Big Beat". Born to run in the family, I guess.
Great powerful drummer who does it with such calming ease! I am so impressed by this family man a mild mannered gentleman by day who transforms into a Hulk behind the drums at night. Reminds me of so many people I grew up with and their parents- an old school good guy who just so happens to be gifted musically. Look at him now with no plans to tour "but if the Boss calls I may be interested- wink-wink". Nice guy-nice daughter and a great story. I like and respect the man more than Springsteen. My neighbor was one of his teachers. As a kid playing with my friend in the house I had no idea just how cool that was. Musicians were in and out all the time while I was hanging with my friend. Gary Chester became a respected teacher, with drummers searching out his expertise and demanding techniques. His drumming systems have been used and endorsed by drummers such as Kenny Aronoff, Gary Gibbons, Douglas Oscard, Danny Gottlieb, Max Weinberg, Chris Adams, Tico Torres, Lindy Morrison, and Dave Weckl, each having studied under Chester.
As for the cancer gene, she opted for the Jolie method when I'd just get tested two to three times per year if I was a woman becaue I read that even though you take this super intrusive evasive action, you can still get cancer underneath those implants.
Great all round. Please note that breast cancer also occurs in males. I knew an older man who died from it more than 50 years ago, and I know a family where the father had a preventive double mastectomy after losing both his parents to breast cancer. Awareness is crucial.

Actually Medicare foe all is the life saver. Over 1/2 of those with cancer go bankrupt many more deplete life savings. Awareness isnt the problem. Insurance companies and legalized bribery in politics is the problem.

Saw them for the first time in Detroit on 3/29/23. I never realized Max was that good. Nothing fancy but he was just solid.

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer & thank goodness they found it early. He is doing great.

Max's style always reminded me of Dino Danelli. Both great drummers with simple four piece kits.
Max was a huge fan of Dino Danelli. In Max's book, "The Big Beat", Danelli is featured by Max.

I goggled the new drummer for Slipknot Jay W., I was surprised that his pops played with Bruce S. His son Jay, is very talented just like his dad.
Jay has sat in for Max with the ESB on some occasions when his tv commitments -- or maybe medical situation -- made him unavailable.
