These interviews were done in London in the spring of 1986 when the Stones were being presented with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Mick didn’t really want to accept it, but the rest of the Stones did. This also was around the time that “Dirty Work” was finally being released after a long delay. The recording of the album originally began in early 1985 with an initial intent to have it ready by the end of summer, along with a subsequent tour. By summer, Mick was telling reporters that the Stones hoped to have the album finished by the fall. Of course, it wasn’t. No tour either. There was just a lot of turmoil going on with the band back then.....and the vibe didn’t really return until “Steel Wheels” in 1989.
Taking the Stones works so much better for me just seeing them more as regular folk here working at an extraordinarily spectacular job - that they are very good at - than me getting all giggly and 'schoolgirl-ish' over them with them or other fans. I think they would prefer we be that serious way with them than us instead melting into a pool of stupid 'fandom' when they or their music is on our minds. "Buy the product or not, but I would prefer you buy the product and listen to it," I imagine them saying. It is a business, after all. I can't adore these people anymore (Rock Stars), but can still love and admire them very much, and be inspired by them. I love watching and listening to them (Stones) work, and would appreciate sitting down for a cup of fucking tea with any one of them talking shop. I feel they are very much personally a part of my life. That is where I have become mature.
Charlie was in his 2 yrs or so 'heroin & brandy' period. Mick was right that The Stones were not in any state to Tour at that time. Jagger /Richards falling out over Mick going solo. Ronnie on crack or something. Ian Stewart's death. Also Bill was disgracing himself with Mandy Smith. Thank goodness they survived the 80's with the amazing Steel Wheels Tour!
There is a dark side to the entertainment business that is rarely discussed, people being held against they're will, people being exploited, not paid for services rendered, kept in a fog of drugs for control purposes.
Mick shoild have shut up with his ego here and make music with his comrades, the friendship would have come back naturally. This is just an artificial feud.
Rock n' Roll was the soundtrack of the late twentieth century,The Stones were pretty good at it,things change and the baby boomers are in their seventies,I'm so glad this period is over!
A lot of really fine folks got hurt by the entertainment industry, and the publics perception about being a 'rockstar' is just based on guesswork and assumptions which have no basis in reality.

Keith wanted to tour the Dirty work album, and things did not go that way, and the band nearly broke up.
I miss Bill. The band just hasn't functioned in the same way since he left.
Exactly...not the same different in every way...Jones is great but Watts Wyman are just legendary. Bill played like a stand up bassist.
@@krisscanlon4051 Absolutely--and he made it look effortless! That's the mark of a true master.
Darryl Jones is cool but you are right. Not the same without Bill. And sadly never the same without Charlie. RIP
Very much agree. Bill and Keith were the coolest members. The glue of the Stones.
Honestly this might be the most open I’ve ever heard them at least in the mid 80s period
Bill was my favorite.
Mick looked younger during the Steel Wheels era 1989 with short hair than he does here, three years before !
True 😄
He looks awful here for just 43, more like 55.

Jagger sooooo doesn't want to be there ....
The interviewer misstated to migk what bill and Ronnie said.
Where was Charlie?
Probably on rehab
Up Ronnies nose

@@petermills542 80's were tough for them

Ronnie’s off his face
I wonder if Mick wears a wig.

I pity you.

This has to be some kind of elaborate hoax,it just doesn't ring true.
Mick Jagger looks a lot like or reminds me of JFK.
you are partially blind?
JFK was a bit of a anglophile, very wordly and have similar hair color to mick, but it could be 'just my imagination' runnin' away with me,ha ha.
No, at the JFK Stadium 1981 his Hair was much shorter!
