Instead of translating word to word, for them to really appreciate the stand ups, there should be contexts and proper explanation for the jokes. This is why Jaby and Achara might not have understood some jokes in their true meaning...

An extremely huge part of Upmanyu's comedy is his lackadaisical and irreverent style of delivery which is lost in translation. Hence all hindi speaking reactors are always in splits reacting to his stuff, while jaby sort of zoned out multiple times.
Same stands true for bassi.
Edit : jaby addressed that later in the video. Sort of.

So english is sth I've learnt from books and not from people around me. So perhaps it's not that simple and straight to the point. I am working on it.

You are absolutely right about the victim blaming. You go to the Police, they immediately blame you and not just for the sexual assault, for anything and everything. I have had multiple first hand experiences of that.
One night I was walking down a road near my neighborhood. A bike stopped beside me. The rider and the pillion were couple of young guys. Looked smart and decent from the looks. Asked me for help. They wanted me to dial a number because apparently their phones were dead. I offered my phone and they immediately rode away. There was a police patrol car parked a couple of meters away from me. I walked to it. Two cops were sitting in there. I explained the incident, gave them the direction to where the bikers went, etc., and they basically said that it was my fault; why would I offer help to someone random? They stayed put. Lol. I learned two lessons there. 1. Not to trust people easily. 2. The police are basically pigs.
23:30 I guess you could say that its an Indian thing. Being an Indian I think I do qualify to say about it. From my PoV we're somehow used to that. Its kinda like ingrained in our system and society in such a fundamental level that we know that we have to be really good at making arguments if we want to get things done in the way we want it. And everyone wants things done in their own way... So, in the end situations turn out to be competition with arguments and most of the times the louder voice wins. So, you guys can see us bickering lol. I'm sorry that you had to experience that sort of thing but I wanted to let you know that it's a common occurence. Nothing to do with you being foreigners. She'll treat the locals the same and try to blame them as well... Only difference is it might have made her work easy because you guys might not have argued as much as a local does lol.
It's sad people don't have a conscience and they will argue even when they are at fault.
@@luvsuneja Sadder thing is when people still have the conscience and know it's wrong at the fundamental level but still do it coz they have been doing this for so long that it's now habitual. I know it's wrong, I'm not saying otherwise either, but it is what it is.
It would be same with Italians or Irish or Greek or Orthodox Jewish communities in American cities. They negotiate the same hard desi style.

I think the turning around and "victim blaming", I would rather call it "street smart". In India, people have limited resources and too much competition. So people need to be really cut-throat and grab at every opportunity. As a result, if you as an American approach them, you aren't prepared for it. If it were an Indian customer at that airport, they'd push back harder.
