I have an idea how they found these M.A.S.K. toys.
I think someone in the company who owns the warehouse said, "Today masks are a high demand product because of the pandemic. Let's check our stock inventory of stuff if we have masks in one of our warehouses." And the other guy answered after looking at a dusty clipboard from the 80's, "Yes boss, we have boxes of masks in one of warehouses, but they are from around 30 years ago. I'll open it right away to see if the mask are still OK to be sold."
    And the next is history.

As late as 1990, I would find new 1977 on star wars toys for sale in Cincinnati. Back then nobody cared. I bought a 1977 packaged tie fighter die cast for $2. I wish I bought more.

I had no idea it was more than just MASK found in that warehouse. I really want to get in on getting the mint in box MASK toys, but kind of scared to find out how much they'll cost. Between asking pricing, shipping, and the custom cost.

I remember having M.A.S.K toysas a kid, they were pretty awesome for their time (they still are awesome). My only gripe was it was so damn easy to lose the helmet for the figures, which I did 99% of the time. Would love to see that series come back in a retro collection

I still have all of my Star Wars toys l had when I was a kid, and I don't know or care what the value is. It doesn't mean anything to me because I am not going to sell them. Just last year I had a buddy that was after some GI Joe figures, so I packed up the ones he wanted and sent them to him.i found out what other stuff he was after, and proceeded to pack up and send him my entire Joe collection for free(minus the two things I wanted to keep).

This is a really awesome toy find! I remember there was a toy website in the early 2000's called plasticdreams.com . I guess they went out of business because the site is gone. I remember reading a story they had about finding a bunch of vintage Kenner Star Wars figure cases and found a bunch of the carded vinyl cape Jawas in them. It's hard to believe that there would be old store stock still sealed in their cases like that locked away somewhere.

I believe there are a lot of NOS that is waiting to be discovered. I collect Kiss merch, and recently a reseller bought a collection of vintage Kiss posters and iron on transfers from the 1970’s. The prices are still high on them but nice to know that mint copies of these items are still around and are now easier to find.

Also depends on the condition of those boxes hot warehouse for 30 years

    • @ryanbarker5217
      @ryanbarker5217 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ThatJunkman that's true, and without even knowing just how many there are, it's impossible to say what affect it will have. it's not as if the market is suddenly flooded with thousands of every figure, there just may be a couple hundred of several figs.
as always, supply and demand. if you were to infuse the vintage 'star wars' market with 300 MOC DT lukes, i dare say the market value won't change significantly, if at all. throw 10K of them out there, and, yeah, the market on those *particular* figs will drop quite a bit, imo.
it's fun to speculate, but our guesses right now are just bullshit.

Even if you could go back in time and buy a case of 1977 Star Wars toys, yeah they would be worth a lot of money right now; but you would’ve lost that money I’m not investing in something in stocks or bonds. So if you want to head and bought $5000 worth of Star Wars toys and I invested my $5000, I would have a lot more money than you right now after you sold everything.
So there is not much point in investing long-term. If you can find those exclusive figures everybody wants and then sell them right at the perfect moment, you can make some good money, especially if you have scalper programs on your computer

Let see I would keep 3 full sets of both the M.A.S.K. and Sky Commanders, 1 to remained boxed, 1 for display, and 1 to play with just because I'm a collector doesn't mean I can't play with them. As for the rest full fill other collectors dreams of completion only charge 5 dollars over shipping cost and send the toys out. Hey were all collectors we know the struggle of trying to complete a collection and the frustration of not getting the item were so close to getting, might as well help other collectors out and make people happy.

As far as collecting figures/toys that could be worth something someday, a part of me does wonder if some of the unopened figures I got from the '07 and '08 lines might become valuable in the future. I also have an unopened Force Awakens version of Monopoly (without Rey; bought it in early 2016 amidst the "where's Rey?" outcry) and an unopened Force Link First Order Starter Kit from the Last Jedi line (Toys R Us exclusive; bought it a couple of months before Toys R Us closed its doors).

That is an Indiana Jones level find LOL. Awesome!
Yes I bought expensive toys for years, new and old, Star Wars, Transformers, MASK, LEGO, a little G.I. Joe, World's Smallest Matchbox cars, and others. I bought them because of my love for the toys and recreating by childhood by re-buying old toys, or toys I wanted as a child but never had. It may sound silly but they make me happy and I get a good feeling from them.
I didn't buy them to make money and yes vintage toys, videogames etc are a terrible way to try to invest, anyway, if you study it, as you said.
Early into my collecting, I had a mini-find of a semi medium size box full of G1 Transformers and Thunderhawk and Firefly, latter had driver from Volcano for some reason. I did re-buy Thunderhawk and many of the Transformers later on in better condition.
I LOVE MASK, it is my favorite cartoon and toy line from the 80s specifically. I have etter and clearer childhood memories than G1 Transformers due to re-watching VHS recordings many times. Of course it didn't last and go onto become the juggernaut Transformers did, sadly. All I had was the submarine portion of Pirhana. Probably from a garage sale. My family probably figured they were too expensive to buy, especially for a kid my age. Looking at original prices and adjusting for inflation, that theory checks out lol.
As an adult I bought MASK's Thunderhawk, Rhino, Gator, Firecracker, Condor, Firefly (still need pilot as he wasn't in that box,) Hurricane, Raven, and Bulldog. My childhood memory was Bulldog was VENOM and I do like it better that way heh-heh. In my defense he was introduced as a VENOM agent but was really with MASK. :) And Venom's Switchblade, Piranha, Jackhammer, Scorpion, Vampire, and Manta. Don't have Razorback which was one of my favorites as a kid! :( And of course Shark. :( I got the entire series of fan-made DVDs because the officials weren't out yet.
Even as a kid I thought the G.I. Joe cartoon was stupid because it was about a war where no one died. But I liked the toys and their file cards, had a few, became interested in the comic years later after learning about it. I have a few vehicles and Joes from various time periods. We had a fire in the early 90s on New Year's Day (or Eve?) and my brother and I lost our Battle Wagon vehicles we got for Christmas and I haven't gotten another one yet. :(
I LOVE Transformers. Foggy original childhood memories but good ones of Generation 1 Transformers. I could remember Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Hound, and Deception jets clearly. Probably also helped from that children's book telling their origin story. I distinctly recall one Autobot rescuing another from a lake, which was from the opening miniseries it turns out. As a child, I only had Jetfire, the Go-Bot "Future Machine," and a Generation 2 Autobot ironically called Go-Bots. An orange race car with a water gun and color-changing hood. The idea was he was gung-ho about the cause and like a cheerleader or yell leader, as in "GO, 'BOTS!," therefore Go-bots! Yeah lol.
As a kid, I bought Jetfire and the Future Machine at a flea market. I remember Jetfire was missing a hand and of course all his weapons and accessories. I loved that the head turned into a gun turret in jet mode and was fascinated by the double-faced Autobot symbol, rub stamp (rub to change color to reveal affiliation) and the cockpit. Something about those old sealed interiors behind windows on old Transformers. Especially the smoke colored windows. :) Sadly Jetfire and Future Machine went up in the fire too. I still had Go-Bots, though the front of the car/shoulder armor was broken off and the weapon was gone. So it must have been bought after the fire. I thought for sure my brother got a Generation 2 jet or plane but I never found it in my/our stuff, and I cannot remember which one it was. Maybe he got something else that day instead. I will ask him about it some time.
Fast forward to adulthood, Future Machine was one of the toys in that $20 flea market box. I had to re-buy Jetfire for $200, but he was complete, and with a styrofoam insert, no box. My favorite childhood Transformer was the most expensive. D: I re-bought Go-Bots and a water shooting Decepticon dune buggy called Jetstream to go with him. I got back into Transformers with Beast Wars and got all the current line, at that time, late Transmetals and Transmetals 2, got previous characters and then G1, more Transformers than I can count or name. Also Beast Machines. I bought some VHS episodes from Rhino Entertainment, and then fan recording copies of the whole series from a guy on a Geocities website around 1999 or so, since the full series was not out officially yet. I definitely need to upgrade that or convert them to DVD and then digital. I have the full series of Beast Wars and Beast Machines on DVD.
    WHEW!
I will edit or reply to add Star Wars, LEGO, and World's Matchbox Cars later. I gotta catch a nap. :) Great video thanks for telling us about this, Junkman. :)

That guy doesnt have to work anymore, for the rest of his life. Each indivudual package is worth hundreds to over a thousand. And each box has like 6 packages. So a box could be worth $3000-$6000. Those toys came with comic books too. All of it prestine and taped airtight.
Its like finding the tomb of King Tut!!!!

👏👏👏 J.M that was a very good point you make about investment's & really if a person is just collecting to resell, then they arn't really a collector, more like a finance broker. On the flup side, I would love to get some of that stuff. Cheers👍🏻🍻

Ive had probably 1 toy miracle somewhat similar to this on a much smaller scale..In 1997(here in Philly)there was a model shop run by this old man, that’s been there since at least the mid 70”s.By the 90’s I never see the store open anymore. But thru the window I spot an old Star Trek rpg I use to play in the 80’s buried under a bunch of models. So one day I look in the window again and the old man is there but the store is closed..So I knock on the window and he lets me in..Long story short,I found some really cool stuff in there including a carded 12 back Jawa,a mego carded SpiderMan,Robin and Hulk,a carded Leia(Bespin), a M Jackson figure boxed,a planet Apes cardboard playset, and a neat set of welcome back korter figures all carded..My best toy day find ever!
