Nice video. Basics, good talk, used kids in the demo! So many borrowing college teams do the same drill but BORING. The players don't want to be there and the camera is too far away. This video.. I will show it to my 4th graders . Thank you
Tully I actually wouldn't. I play basketball in U16 on the Swiss national level. This form of helpside defense is fine except for one important thing. The bigmen are either too far away or the tallest kid is under the rim which is really bad positioning, he should be set completely on the ball side not just half-half.
I'd have to argue with the officials if they told me that. They aren't playing a zone, regardless of how far away they are from their man. Their actions/reactions are different than in a zone. If the opposite deep corner player moves to the ball side block, as in a 4-out offense, he'd now be one pass away and would be denied by his person. Same goes for the opposite wing, if they cut to the ball side elbow they'd be one pass away and denied as well.
@@ssnick35 I get what you mean, but in my country the refs would make them defend closer to their man. They are very far away. Usually about a metre a part with arms out identifying their defender. These kids are about 3 metres away. It's invariably a type of zone.
@@PhoenixSunsNZthis is how you play man on man defense, just because they are away from their guys doesn’t mean it’s zone. Zone is about guarding a zone where as this is still about each person tracking their own man and the ball.
@@justinsumner Defensive 3 seconds only applies to the NBA. I don't like that it doesn't apply to all levels since offensive 3 seconds applies to all levels.

@@FinsterCSwe can’t over here because some leagues call it “Zone” and it’s not legal at that age groupe
I love this so much. It explains why my Hawks give up so many open 3s. They over help a lot.
very good demo
It's called a Weakside "I."
In our comp, kids aren't allowed to play zone. Those boys in the middle might have to get a bit closer than what they are.

That's not zone, that is man to man. That's called sagging. Our little league allows double team help defense and sagging help defense but no zone.

Isn't this more for of a zone than a man? I love this video. I'm looking for videos on teaching man to man to kids under 12.
No because if your person drives you stick with em you just don't allow easy entry into the paint by being a helper in case your teammate gets beat
Keep doing it to make kids learn
So we are doing this for school where I play in the defense is the bottom right corner and what if my guy moves up to the top do I stay up there
no you move with ur man or then screen
Great video
Only 5 plays help side 4 shouldn’t drop down
Pare facile ma quando si gioca è molto difficile
👍👍
Good vid but 77 traveled a ton
Sup
I’m quiet tho 😭😭💀💀
Ball side foot up don’t turn your back to your man.
No 5 second violations?
*3second
ejamal94 it’s not the nba
@@TheEjamal1994 Only the offense gets called for 3 seconds. Defense can stay however long as they'd like.

The guys in the middle committing a three second defensive foul.
Thats only a rule in nba. Offense 3 second is a thing at all levels though
