Griff, I just found your channel and I appreciate seeing all of the revivals of the Fords. I love working on the old Ford's too!

Good job! This reminds me of a '66 Ford I used to own years ago. BTW that plastic fuel line was 'Mickey Moused' by a previous owner. Most of that line should have been metal. There should have only been about 3 inches of neoprene line running from the fuel tank to the metal line.I know from mistakes/experience.After replacing the fuel pump and the carb,I discovered that the reason for my weak fuel delivery was that old, cracking neoprene line.Replaced it for $1.98 (in 1977) and had no problems after that.

If you buy a bottle of AT- 205 Re Seal and put it in a spray bottle and use it on anything rubber also great for ball joint bushings it helps to soften them up and prevent rot. Good stuff, most parts stores carry it, but also can be ordered from Amazon. Not meant for high pressure so don't use in pwr steering If you ever get a leak. Great Video

People give us a hard time about keeping all the junk but then you save yourself 120$ on a tank. Nice vid man 🤙

The Rubber hose coming from the Rear is indeed a Pressure relief vent hose... It just uses a regular hose and just goes up into the body of the car.. It literally does not connect anywhere or to anything on the vent side....You just put the hose into the body hole of the chassis...That's all...It just holds the hose..It connects to absolutely nothing. :) Tony K.

    That’s definitely the vent tube/hose for the 9inch 👍

I'm on a shoe-string budget myself, saving money is most important...A guy has to do, what he can, with what he has available to him...(Same thing for the woman too!) Peace out! Be well!

Griff, the cars ENTIRE fuel line, should be stainless steel, EXCEPT the last 4 inches can be NEOPREENE rubber, that connects onto the fuel line coming out of the tank, with clamps. RC

On the fuel filters you have I definitely put one before the fuel pump and one before the carburetor that’s double the protection insurance and a peace of mind. I’d leave that setup permanently and it’s easy to maintain it Griff. You’re doing a awesome job on rebuilding the Galaxy.

Great job I still don't know how to put the lock ring on the gas tank

Yes, that hose is probably the vent. No other reason for a hose on a diff like that.

Griff, You forgot the rubber O-Ring seal between the Fuel sender and the tank. Without it, Your tank will leak gas from that area.. :o) Tony K.

Did you get the filler neck installed all the way without any problems? I have gone through 4 or 5 tank gaskets/o rings from just trying to install the filler neck itself. I've tried all kinds of lubes from silicone grease, lithium grease, wd 40, even K&Y Gel Lube and no luck. The filler neck still looks and feels round enough to slide into the hole and not tear up the gaskets. I was just working on it right now and I may have to just remove the tank again and see if anything is clogging up the sending unit or if there are any pinholes or something. I have a full tank of gas and I can't get the fuel to the carb. Every thing is brand new, sending unit fuel lines, fuel filters, mechanical fuel pump. Might pull the trigger and buy either a brand new fuel tank or just say screw it and go fuel injection with a fuel cell instead.

Yes I got the filler neck installed. I don’t remember having that hard of a time with it but I also didn’t replace that seal around the filler neck, I used a pre-owned seal. Maybe your new seal has a slightly too small inner diameter. Never know, sometimes new parts for these old cars don’t fit all that well. Also weird that you aren’t pulling fuel.

@@griffparker1466 well the previous owner had Jerry Rigged it or as we say in spanish Mickey Moused it, it had no proper tank seal, currently right now it has an old and cracked o ring which still some what works despite it not sealing properly I have been able to drive it for hours, I thought that is what originally went there up until I saw your video of the correct gasket. Before I removed the tank to clean it, it had some sort of bondo or roof sealer smeared around it, so I might copy that but with that flex seal spray haha. I just need it to run to haul it with a trailer to a body shop. If that doesn't work, either a new factory style fuel tank or just get a fuel cell and install it in the trunk area since that trunk panel is rotting away.
