You're really good at finding creative ways to apply effects. Seems like most pedal channels are just showing us that pedals can emulate the sounds from certain classic songs. I guess that's what a lot of people want. But I'm glad you're out there showing us the deeper creative potential in these effects.
I'd like to second that. Mr. Bill doesn't sit there and play you cheesy "music store show-off" licks: he keeps it relevant to what he's reviewing and imbibes it with his own genuine creativity and irrepressible Bob Ross charm.
This a nice and relaxed video! You're the "Bob Ross" of pedal-demo's!! :) And what I also like is the fact that you actually play what's necessary to demo the pedal and not showing off your guitarskills like so many others, with heavy distortion and dropdown tunings etc!! Thank you. I use this pedal in my "smaller" pedalboard and I like it. The tap-function takes a bit long to get, but at least it's there!
Bill, let me just thank you for becoming a go to gear review boss. I am sure it takes time away from other pursuits, but your videos are a fantastic service in that you are both thorough in your descriptions AND give a fantastic clean and dynamic contextual demonstration EVERY TIME!
Wish you had talked a little about the marvellous crazyness that happens when you change the delay time/use the expression pedal while playing and the pedal emulates the inertia of a tape machine. bought mine used and i think either this pedal just always goes completely crazy when you touch the time knob or the previous owner has created a few very out-there presets :D
The online editor makes this pedal something special. If you crank up the modulation and reverb this thing blows an RE-20 into the weeds.. It's totally different from all the Echoplex emulators, much more ambience to the repeats. And the price is just ridiculous.
@Nick Zingo I owned an el Cap for about a month, felt it was lifeless and sterile. Much prefer this cheap nux, there's so much atmosphere to the repeats. Again, only after you add the modulation and the reverb, though.
8:38 Did you make a Seussian rhyme here on purpose? Cause its pretty amazing. Also, this is probably the first pedal I'll be buying since I was 12 or something
I highly recommend the Catalanbread Echorec - I buy when my ears tell me to to and they 'heard' a vintage Echorec - I hear this NUX Tape Core Deluxe and I hear a Space Echo - just checking if I heard right...
@@guyac01 - I ended up with Volante and a midi rig. I'm happy with everything but the prices of it all. But I did not stop there, I ended up with more midi controlled stuff. EQ2 and SD Silverlake reverb make my ambient presets accessible and manageable with multiple instruments including flute! ES-5 switcher keeps my midi stuff wrangled and loops are handy with a Deja-Vibe and other various pedals. I make my own dirt / fuzz pedals, but saved little of no money there either. It's still pricey to build your own. I did end up with a Catilinbread pedal, the Zeropoint. I love it. Now I'm watching the Seymour Duncan Polaron. Maybe next year...
Sorry for a late comment probably silly question.. I can't find anyone testing it out in videos. But do all the Space Echo/tape echo type pedals do that whooshing feedback effect like the Roland one The Fall of Troy uses it a lot that's what I'm looking for honestly.. have delay and reverbs just want that whooshing feedback sound honestly....
loving this demo, i’ve heard complaints that this pedal doesn’t hold up in the long term though, do you still have it and if so does it still work fine for you?
I snagged one of these a couple of months ago and updated the firmware. Unfortunately there's a problem in the current firmware. On the plus side, they added the Roland reverb as an option - available through the editor. On the down side, it makes an intermittent POP sound every few minutes that is really loud. It makes the pedal unusable live and pretty useless in the studio. I reached out to them around Thanksgiving and they said that they are releasing a fixed firmware by the end of December so I'm waiting (not so) patiently for that. Other than the pop, I LOVE this pedal! I use it with guitar and my synths. Peace.
@@nifela Sadly, they have not fixed this. I reached out the first week of January and they said that they had run into other problems and they hope to have it fixed by May 2019. (OUCH!) I've rolled back the firmware to the previous stable version and it's no longer popping. In the meantime, I truly hope they get the newer feature-rich firmware functioning error-free this Spring.
The NUX Time Force is a bit cheaper and also has a tape delay mode, though evidently it's not as flexible as the Tape Core. But it does have stereo input, which is useful in other ways. A lot of the NUX pedals do seem to have overlapping features, which can actually be quite useful when you start chaining them.
You did not talk about the built in reverb you have access to in the app when it is plugged into your computer or the 8th setting which is a super simple loop pedal. Kind of not really showing all of its bells and or whistles.
I would say yes. I have the Boss RE-20 and they are both basically clones of the Roland Space Echo RE-201. The cool thing about this particular one is that you can hook it up to your computer and change the preset parameters. That's pretty neat
Came to see how the f*** tap tempo works because it's not explained in the manual and he says "its works how you would expect".... Maybe I was expecting a freaking beaver tu jump out of the cab then.
You hold down the on switch, then it goes in to tap mode, then you can tap in the delay time. You have to hold it down again to go back to normal mode, or you can't turn it off.

I own a dozen of delay pedals, some quite expensive and very good, but this is the only one that really sounds like a spinning reel tape echo !
@strangeguitarskills No, it's for guitar input. You'll place other stereo pedals after.
as always: instructive and inspiring in an entertaining eloquent fashion. this is to be my always-on-warm-delay-pedal. and no dent in my wallet.
It's actually very good, warm but not muddy. Feedbacks like a dream so great for fx noises.
Any tool you touch, any guitar, you make it sound like gold

I have mine! Mode number 3 is the best of the pedal, Only for that way is it worth buying the pedal
just found this channel, I really liked this pedal demo, Im suscribing.
My respect to you Ser Davos, testing pedals is a very good way to carry on after GOT.
Thanks! Recently picked one of these up.
That really does sound cool. Great demonstration. Subscribed.
Thank you!
Damn 62 euro...honestly this one sounds more like a tape delay then the tape mode in my timeline 😆 i need to buy this 😁
Just found your channel! Fantastic music and demos! I love it!
Nice pedal. I was really hoping you'd show us the SOS mode. Maybe another short video?
hadn't heard of this one before. pretty sweet. thanks bill

On the fence about this one or the Echorec. The editor features and expression in this one kinda tip my scales towards the NU

Any update with regards to this problem? I currently updated the firmware of mine. I also noticed the popping sound.
@@tedstahl3794 any update regarding the issue? Did they fixed it already?
Ted Stahl did they fix the update ? Just bought this pedal and it wanted to know if it was worth updating.
Neat pedal! Sounds like you could dial in some cool Andy Summers tones.
For sure!
Brilliant! I need that thing
You should get one of the old Roland Space Echo rackmounts, I would love to see what you would do with it.

zoomosis I second this, as a Time Force owner/frequent user. Sadly, the Time Force has been discontinued.

Hola! En las 3 primeras posiciones ¿se pude decir que es retardo analógico? Gracias
Does it have stereo ping pong delay ?
how do you change the modes ??
This sounds wonderful, Bill! Does it sound as good as the Boss RE-20?
Yeah, what say you, Bill? I'm considering both, though I like the compactness/pedal board friendliness of this one.

“Pretty darn good”
Hey Bill. How you forgot about eathtquaker devices disaster transport Sr?
Hi Bill, i love your videos. Can you do a demo of the Deluxe Memory Man please?
The Tired Horizon Yes but he did the Hazarai version. I ask if he could demo the "normal" deluxe memory man
I'd like to see you play the mxr echoplex
Hi Bill, a question .... ¿when you edit the changes in the software are saved in the pedal? Regards from Andalucía
Yes.
@@henriquevalverde7179 gracias amigo
I want one
Does the pedal support stereo inputs?
no
What tunings do you use on your baritones?
I normally use BEADF#B on the electrics. Baritone “standard” if you will.
Where can i find the app? Link?
www.nuxefx.com/list-38-1.html
Bill, is that analog or digital?
I assume digital. but check with the company to be sure.
In a bass? Would it work?
Yes!!
You must have a compressor on
This is an older video, but I am sure that I do.
dat eyes
SPACE ECHO is GOD
Its not a space echo
Why
No eq mix on the fx loop (trible and bass )
That's wrong. You have bass and treble controls in the editor.
for the price.. this is a bummer!
