    I know I've said this before, but I love the fact that you talk up brands that most people would see as your competitors. In business you're supposed to trash talk your competition and hype your own brand. You do the opposite and it's really refreshing.

    • @TheChadPad
      @TheChadPad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      What would we be without our competition? We don't wanna see them disappear! Seriously, imagine if Fender just disappeared off the face of the planet. Guys over at Gibson would cry, because they're probably Fender fans too! They know they bring a different thing to the market, and they are greater because of each other

      @@skeltergaming1643 There is probably something to it, but I think he just loves pedals. And music. With these videos he probably sold as many pedals of other manufacturers as his own. If not more. And this attitude isn't quite unique to JHS. You will often see other pedal makers give shoutouts to other competitors and even use their pedals in their videos. So, it's a market with quite a bit of competition but not much bitter rivalry.

    • @joesatchton212
      @joesatchton212 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Quicksilver_Cookie Totally agree with folks' assessment of Josh. Yeah, I've heard the stories about his personal beliefs...blah blah blah. Unless he advocates kicking puppies and stealing candy from toddlers, his personal, private views have absolutely no bearing on me and I couldn't possibly care less. I like the guy. I like his pedals. I LOVE the fact that he consistently gives props to other pedal makers. Yes, absolutely refreshing. But you're right - he's not necessarily unique in praising others. Clearly we are in another golden age of guitar pedals right now and I think all the manufacturers have learned that the market is big enough for everyone, catering to diverse sonic tastes. Yes, competition in a free market is great. But as the gear companies are showing, you don't have to be cutthroat assholes to prosper. Again, it's a huge, wide open market and everyone has a chance to get a little fat. Best part is - we the consumer benefit the most. I hope it continues forever....

    On the pedal side of things, I have to say that I built my board around TC's pedals because of how affordable and what great reviews they had. I don't regret it, I love how they sound and I wish you could do a whole episode where you explore something you did today: pairing up some of those. Thanks for the great episodes every single time.

    I have to chime in with the crowd. I'm really impressed that you are always raving about the competition, not just your own pedals. I guess you know full well that your pedals are all excellent too, right up there with the best, so it doesn't worry you to brag about the other brands. I only have on e of your pedals so far, an Angry Charlie v3, and I'm beyond happy with it. If I had to get rid of all my overdrive pedals except one, the Angry Charlie would easily be the keeper. It's amazing!
    That all said, this video inspired me to pick up a gently-used TC Electronic Nova delay, got a great deal on one, couldn't pass it up, just arrived today and it is an absolutely wonderful pedal. Thanks for suggesting that one! :-)

    I love Tc electronic. I used to have a T2 reverb and an Alter Ego x4 and they were my favorite pedals I have ever owned. I miss my old rig. I had the mojomojo on there as well and I love using it at low gain settings. Unfortunately i lost all my gear/every belonging I've ever had after moving back home across the country to get my life together, but hey, I chose life over materials so I cant complain, and I'm slowly but surely building a new rig and doing much better in the life department. Fun & convenience fact: The old TC Stereo Chorus has 1 Mohm input impedance.
    So it handles the direct signal from a passive Fender Rhodes Mk1 superbly without muddying tone.
    Try this with a famous Boss CE-1 (stock) - no chance! *
    * Having said that, using a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 Combo, sporting the same Boss Chorus inside, is great for a Rhodes as it´s got those sensible inputs for passive instruments.

    I've been eyeing their multi-effects processors as an upgrade from my long-in-the-tooth Boss GT-100, and I guess a secondary question to someone like you is how you feel about floor-based processors that either do multiple pedals or an entire rig in one place?
