An advantage to booking your shore excursions through the cruise line is that you do not have to pay any medical expenses at the ship's doctor if you are injured on the excursion. My adult daughter broke her ankle exiting a jitney in St. Thomas. The first question upon returning was whether or not we purchased the shore excursion through RCCL. We did and they said you're fully covered for the exam, x-rays and wheelchair. Please consider this when deciding to book shore excursions.

I'm appreciative that Ben took the time to explain the frustrations with hearing "no" for requests for things that are available for Diamond class cruisers. Lesson learned: save a screenshot/print the webpage of "perks" that you are entitled to, so you can show the staff. At least having that list on hand will make the interaction "inconvenient" instead of "frustrating". As always, love the channel!

Hi Ben and David. I did laugh about the coffee in the suite. I like strong coffee. It is much better with a splash of Sambuca in it. All those stairs 😮. Absolutely beautiful reward for making the climb. So many things seem to be different depending where you are in the world. As always, thank you both for taking us along with you and doing all this work. Love my Sunday with you. Be well and see you next time. ❤❤

I learned early on that taking a taxi or hiring a tour company to drive you is the BEST way to see a port. I just let them know that I need to be back at least an hour before the all-aboard time (of course, I also mind my time), and you can see and do so much.

My guess as to why there are charges for things that are complementary on other ships is that RC is not making money on alcohol sales. You mentioned that there are hardly any bars and the ones they do have are not being unitized. Alcohol, and gambling are two huge money makers for cruise ships. That loss has to be made up somewhere.

Hi Guys, Your sunscreen should be Water resistant: Does not come off the skin during swimming or exercise, provided it is not wiped off. While a label may state a sunscreen is '4 hours water resistant', sunscreen still needs to be applied every two hours to maintain the same level of protection. The Australian Cancer Council recommends using any sunscreen that is labelled broad-spectrum, water-resistant and SPF30 or above.

For sunblock, i use CeraVe. It doesn't sweat off. I spent all day on a beach in Florida and didn't get burnt. It IS a zinc block instead of a chemical block, though, so you do look a little white when you have it on.
I would say don't use the waterproof baby version, though. It took multiple showers to get it off. The normal face and body versions are good, though! (As recommended by my dermatologist who said "we need to treat you like a redhead with eczema")

I lived in Kuala Lumpur in the 60s. We visited Batu Caves a few times. Bats roosted in the caves, managed the steps with the confidence of a6/7 year old. I remember the stairs, not painted, and the sacred 5 legged cow. I don't really like the modern skyline, when I lived there KL was very colonial, the station was a Victorian building and many of the buildings were similarly built. The Wells supermarket had the, one of the few in KL. Had the first automatic doors I had ever seen. The Sultan of Malaya gave my father some ceremonial beads for my brother and I ,the palace was the same. We drove along the roads at night and it wasn't foxes we saw but snakes slithering along the sides of the roads. My dad was chased when he was on his motorbike coming home from work by a monitor lizard who kept pace with him until he went faster than 30mph, he was a little worried. In 1 garden we had there was a python in the coconut matting tree outside and in a different garden in a different house, he chased a green tree snake with a large stick, it later turned out the snake was poisonous! Luckily he didn't catch it. Living there in those times with so many memories, I wouldn't want to revisit and see how changed it is. If you go again, try to visit Cameron Highlands, the scenery is stunning with amazing waterfalls with huge Rajah Brook butterflies with iridescent green wings flying around and Pankor Island, off the coast at Port Dickson, on the drive to the ferry I saw the green gleam of tigers eyes in the jungle. Too changed now. Singapore then was the only place with sky scrapers the rest of the country was rustic and traditional, complete with smells and sights.

Ben and David about suncreens, I recently bought a 'Cancer Council spf 50+ uva - uvb Broad spectrum sunscreen. Its up to 4 hours water resistant and they recommend re applying every 2 hours. This is a particularly thick cream I noticed and I feel a difference in the heat of the sun with this. Perhaps carry a teeny container of it to reapply when necessary? So this or similar sunscreen may be a help to you.

Do you have Neutrogena? I'm in Canada and they make a really nice feeling creamy sunscreen that doesn't sting the eyes like others where sweat makes it run down. I did a cruise on Spectrum in Jan 2023, Singapore, Penang, Phuket and I was really excited about the Asian touches for this RCL ship. I'm Chinese Canadian. It was nice to see what Silver guests get. The Windjammer was crazy busy a lot but I loved the variety. Less drinking caters to Asians because a larger proportion of Asians essentially lack an enzyme that helps to break down alcohol. I loved the "bubble tea" type options instead of a British pub, but I think there was a Schooner bar. I didn't notice the charges for things like crisps (didn't look) and I found quite a lot of free nice unlimited snacks at the Le Patisserie (when I went - afternoon tea sized cakes, sandwiches, awesome cookies) as well as the two70 (but they didn't really train all of the staff for the North American food like bagels with cream cheese because they tried to just barely scrape on the cream cheese like you might with marmite so I had to keep asking for more. Free hotdog bar was just okay. Overall, I really enjoyed the ship too, especially because it was different. Service was hit and miss for me in the main dining room but exceptional in other cases. Thanks for sharing the excursions! I missed out on some of that so it was nice to see them.

good to hear you say the dobut is fluffy, my experience with rcl is that the donuts are more like "cake" donuts

I'm not surprised it's so busy inside during the evening if everything is being closed up early outside, then adding the huge amount of people on board you suddenly have nowhere to go. I guess it's the same with dining, and it's the same on most of these big ships, there's too many people wanting dinner at the same time so in particular the anytime dining is full as soon as the reservation is released. So many cruisers are complaining about it and wanting to see 1st and 2nd sitting dining brought back, and after talking to staff who have worked both styles, they much prefer the older 2 sitting styles.

Hello guys. I have cruised on Allure and Oasis and their bran muffins in the Windjammer buffet are fantastic! I just read that people are trying to get the recipe. I really enjoyed this video. Asia is on my bucket list. I don't like humidity, so I'll need to go before summer.

The dining room crush isn't surprising. Cruise lines are designating more and more space to things you need to pay extra for, specialty restaurants, etc.

    Hey Ben and David,
Great cruise ship adventures around Southeast Asia's major attraction from many part of the Indo-Pacific ocean life! For some of us like myself have very limited conversation rights policy traveling crew with actual friends social activities living from Canadian citizenship to understand many of adventures insights, because my parents family have very limited conversations using real informal English diplomacy and are using their Chinese English based language institutions on their education program traveling away for business or conference. Learning on how to travel with your friendships or teammates club organization over the years of accomplishment social activities is something that I can actually improve for future life lessons development journey progress.
