True story, we came home from our Christmas market tour with 21 glüwein mugs and each one was different! I had to buy a suitcase in Strasbourg 😂

The Dutch pancakes are called Oliebollen. They are dutch tradition around New Years and you serve them powdered sugar. Original dutch pancakes are flat and mostly eaten with sugar.

The Christmas markets in Germany are spectacular, even in tiny little towns they’re so over the top & wonderful.

We did a Christmas cruise on Viking in 2019. And loved it. The River at night was unbelievable as we passed the small towns. Lot of walking!!

Guys that was truly wonderful. Mima and I lived in Germany 40 yrs ago and this brought back so many memories! We started our married life there and are still going strong! You’ve encouraged me to get back to Germany, perhaps in December like you.
So happy we could bring so many memories back for you! Germany must have changed so much since you lived there.

I have a tendency to rewatch movies and shows that are comforting to me(Harry Potter and downton abbey are a few of my favorites) and this morning on a cold New England fall day I had the urge to rewatch this Christmas river cruise series you guys did.
Thought you’d appreciate being a comforting, relaxing thing that a mom of two can cuddle up and watch in her free time. 🥰
I cannot remember when I enjoyed a video as much as this one! Thank you both so much. This has been a terrible year for me with my health and 4 mini strokes in one year. Christmas has been so hard for me for the past few years as I have been unable to feel the "Christmas Cheer" for all the work and emotional losses in the past few years. To watch this was like a magical experience as I have never been to Germany or Switzerland, especially at Christmas, or taken a river cruise. It was a bit of a fairytale to watch your excitement and like I said, it has been so long that I have felt any of the magic of Christmas. So thank you for the escape. Also; a personal thank you for your wonderful table manners. I am an old Southern US Lady and I love a beautiful table and sharing a beautiful meal without watching someone chewing their food like cows chew grass and have to listen to someone eat & chew with their mouth open, hear the nasty sounds come mixed with their talking throughout their chewing...I was raised as a true Southern Belle and it is a pet peeve with me. It was all a delight and I have always dreamed of going to Germany as my father's family came from Germany to the US in the 1600s. I doubt I will ever get there, so thank you, and Merry Christmas to you both.

After the Queen Mary II changed her mind we never got to cruise to the markets, but, mum still got her trip we have just returned from Prague where I kept thinking I was walking about in a fairy tale. Great trip chaps, I might have to do this next year!

I love that you both love 'Love Actually'. My absolute fave! The temptation to log off from work, make myself some real hot chocolate and curl up on my bed, while cheering on Jamie/Colin Firth and growling at Harry/Alan Rickman is overwhelming. My darling daughter is home this week from Uni ... we shall have a grand time this evening sobbing into each other's shoulders whilst drinking the aforementioned hot chocolate and munching on some chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday. Of course, each time someone mentions Hot Chocolate, I think of one of my other favourite movies - The Full Monty.
I love English hot chocolate. It seems to taste so much better than ours in Australia. It’s the first thing I buy when I arrive in London.

I realize this is an older post but I just found it. I’ve done all kinds of cruising and the river Christmas markets have to be the best. Food is so good and specialized to the region you are cruising through , love all the little door gifts the companies provide. Tauck is our favorite line

Never had any desire to visit Germany until I saw your Christmas market coverage.
You have taken me back, and reminded me of the 2 times we have done the Christmas Markets! The German markets are terrific! In Nuremburg, i actually got interviewed by the Christmas Angel....and was on German TV, that evening! You go with a half empty suitcase, so you can bring all the gifts you buy home. The 1st time we went, our last night on board was the 22nd of Dec, and Sajta came on the ship, and left a gift on our bed while we all were at dinner! It was a decanter, and 2 wine glasses, that were embrossed with the picture , name and date of our ship! I would buy the mulled wine in each Christmas market, since the mugs are different, they were a great souvenir of each place. They all now sit on pegs above our mantle in our dining room, year round! Starting in Amsterdam and ending the video in Cologne with that magnificent Cologne Cathedral and sipping on gluhwein brought back so many memories of my trip to Germany and the Netherlands, and it made me very happy. Those Christmas markets look amazing, I've always wanted to do them, I think I'd have to take an extra suitcase for the decorations I'd bring back, the food looks delicious and actually made me hungry, as always loads of fun watching you guys, hope you had a blast it certainly looked like you did, by the way I left my shoe outside my front door and all I got was a puddle of rain water, stay safe guys

We have done five river cruises in Europe. One of them was a Christmas market cruise on the Danube River in 2018. It is a magical time.Enjoyed watching you and your excitement over the experience. Looking forward to your further adventures.

Hello from Sydney the lunch looks great thanks for taking us along would love to go to the Xmas markets it looks cold we are having a wet summer & cold. Our borders have opened with Queensland this morning but no cruising yet maybe next year we live in hope!

I just got off the Jewel and if you are concerned about covid at all, I would not recommend cruising. Covid rules are not enforced. Passengers walked around freely inside, in public areas with no masks, elevators are packed, dining areas packed, shows packed, no social distancing
