I worked in chennai plant. Figo, classic and Ecosport are very close to my heart. I love the 1.4 TDCi gear ratios and 1st gen Figo platform handling capabilities... In fact its the same mk6 fiesta platform sold in EU.. They had a 150BHP ST version over there... Its a Rock solid highway car.

Owned a Figo diesel (older model) for over 7 years. On an open road or a highway, I would always find myself being among the quickest cars at the end of a long drive. It was never me…it was the car- that addictive engine, mature handling, the confidence it could give and that hydraulic power steering was brilliant to help you hold speeds on flat roads as well as ghat roads . So very often, I’ve seen VW or Škoda owners look out of their windows at how this ugly-cute car could ride like that. So many smiles with that car!!

Thank you so so much for this video!
I drove my first Ford back in 2015. Coming from a family of Maruti owners, the only thing I knew till then was that Ford's were expensive to maintain. I was in 🥰 with the Figo Aspire in the first 10 secs of the test drive. Purchased it 3 days later, disregarding whatever apprehension I had or I was given regarding maintenance 😁. Had the best driving years of my life in that car. A complete underdog. Could take on any car literally between 0 to 160. And the best part - 17.8 kmpl, and about 25,000 in service cost in 5 years !
With a heavy heart had to let go of it when I upgraded to an Ecosport S last year. The laden ground clearance of the Aspire was just too low for speed breakers and pot holes of West Bengal!
The BS6 Ecosport S is even better engineered. I think nothing is as planted and as nimble as the Ecosport on highways. Great tech and cabin finish as well. And the smoked HIDs and those stylish alloys give that killer look!
I love my Ecosport, but somehow I miss the character that my Aspire had! The CG of that car was slightly raised. And everytime, it was always eager to pounce from a signal at the sight of the green light.
Alas, If only this land had better roads!

I'm 13 (My name's Nirvan) and we own the old Fiesta 1.6. My dad (who's 44) ABSOLUTELY loves it and now that's it's almost 13 years old (in September) since we bought it, it still runs like we just bought it off the showroom floor and we have LITERALLY ZER0 issues with the car. Even though the car wasn't running for 4 yrs, it still is in perfect condition. We changed the tyres and rims, and now have Yokohamas... that thing just flies. My dad wasn't in any condition to take the car anywhere further than getting groceries, until I decided that I needed cars in my life. Even though I can't drive, I can still feel that car wanting to hang on, desperate to have fun. I then decided that this beast wasn't doing grocery shopping anymore and I ended convincing my dad to trust that last of a kind car (SORRY!!! *rocket). And now we're doing around 100kms on highways and some twisties every weekend. It isn't much, but it's more than you'll ever need to get a smile on your face!

Still owning a 2005 Ford Ikon 1.6 and love it more than my other modern car. The steering feel is unparalleled, the instant response is addictive, the grip on the road at insane speeds (which I don't do anymore) is mind blowing. We all know about Ford's chassis prowess and it was so evident here, in an affordable package. Chose this over Honda City back in 2005, as I could not take my eyes away from this beautiful 'panther black Josh Machine'! Still drive the car and still turn back and look at it once more, as I walk away from the parking lot.

I have a 2012 figo titanium diesel, lovely car, served me so well, handling is soo good, love to do canyon carving, efficient brakes saved me couple of times, perfectly calibrated hydraulic power steering, understeer is very well contained, that tdci unit is absolute gem when it comes to power delivery, torque is not in your face it's on your command, turbo lag is well contained in my opinion, but i am worried about the injectors, those continental/Delphi injector are famous for failure, also diesel figos are prone to egr, turbo, intercooler related issues, fortunately i haven't faced any of it, but i have some rust related issues mainly on the doors, the second generation one was absolutely fine, most of those issues were solved, ford opted for Bosch injectors this time, thanks to lazy ford we lost some unique fun cars

Awesome ode to Ford Evo India. I used to own a Figo Aspire with the 1.5 lit NA petrol engine that was paired with the 7-speed DCT gearbox. I loved the way it drove even though the build quality was a departure from earlier Fords. The gearbox was a dry clutch unit and used to get really hot in bumper-to-bumper traffic. It used to shudder while shifting from 1st to 2nd on inclines or if you try to push it hard. After a lot of research I found that it was an inherent characteristic of that Getrag gearbox. I did a few long distant drives in that Aspire and still fondly remember it for its balance between dynamics and overall comfort. Eagerly waiting for Part 2.

Do you think it would be a wise decision to invest in a used 2018 Ford aspire? Will I face challenges with getting the parts? I really am in doubt. Please guide me. BTW, I love in a tier-2 city, Prayagraj. I don't think parts would be as easily available here as a tier 1 city. Please help me here.

Hello..Evo India , I own a Figo 2014 Diesel ..I would like to correct few things which the presenter said.. 1. the red 1st gen figo he drove is not a facelifted one; though the facelift (type2) did came in 2012. 2. While driving the Gen 2 figo/grey you said the power bumped from 1.4/92.5 to 1.5/99..well to correct the 1.4 duratorq could generate not more than 68bhp on paper...rest of info stands agreeable.. ! ! 1st gen figo diesel are noisy due to diesel clatter but not 'extremely' noisy as you qouted..with the windows rolled up the clatter is not at all audible ! thanks for presenting them all !

I come from a family of petrol only cars and wasn't much into diesels due to the NVH levels. But this thinking was before I was into driving. Got my license in 2009 and after having driven petrol only cars until 2010, got my first chance to experience diesel. Had to drop a friend at ISBT Dehradun one early morning and he offered his car and it was a Ford Ikon diesel. It was then only I realised why it was called the ultimate "josh" machine ! Fell in love with Ford's.

At my home we have three cars honda city(2016),i20(2017) and freestyle(2018)..i love city for its vtec engine...but somewhere in my heart, i like freestyle most...its ride ,suspension and handling is too too good than i20...and its wayy cheaper to get serviced than honda and hyundai. I have driven to leh ladakh ,spiti and no problem with freestyle..i wish ford could get the due credit for making amazing cars.

Figo 1st generation diesel was the car with which I learned driving. Me and my dad still drive it everyday. I always use to complain about the engine noise, suspension noise and how the interior lacks the feel good factor that hyndai offer. But the moment I drove Baleno, swift, i10 and few other cars in its segment, I immediately fell in love with my figo. It was crazy and eye opening for me to realise how good my figo is in terms of handling/driving dynamics, that torque surge post 2000 rpm and how soulful the engine feels, all those things which use to take for granted. Our figo has clocked around 1.48 lac kilometres we are about to buy honda city or kushaq but my figo is not going anywhere. I will keep it till atleast for 1.50 lac km more.♥️

Having owned a 2010 Fiesta classic and 2013 Swift vdi, servicing the Ford would cost 3.5-4.5k/10000km vs 6-8k/10000km for the Maruti.
I can confidently say even nowadays VW servicing costs(11k/15000km) are almost at par with Maruti.

Ford is now a HISTORY in India. They did not innovate nor offered as per customers demand. Ecosport Titanium at ₹10 lacs was not offered Android Auto-Apple CarPlay neither a rear AC vent. And thats the reason why it lost to Tata Nexon & Korean Twins. Figo & Freestyle fell in the no man's land neither A Compact nor Premium hatch.

What a throwback. Storytelling masterclass by Sirish and team.
Also, that Ford Ikon in that exact same shade and trim brings back so many memories. Brilliant driving dynamics that made a then 18 year old me go absolutely nuts leading to some close calls thanks to the rubbish wooden braking.

Being a proud owner of the 2013 FigoD I am pained about Ford living India. Its a loss for any enthusiast driver who has ever driven a Ford. Thanks to you for making this remembrance or should I say a tribute to these great and no nonsense drive'rs cars.
Just a small correction - the Red Figo you drove is the older version. The facelift version has smaller indicator and bigger headlight dome whereas the older one has splitt headlight. The front grill has dual slit in facelift and single slit in old version. Also the fabric colour of the seat came in black and blue combination than the older red and black combi. Apart from the cosmetic changes, the major shift was discarding the continental fuel injectors which was not suitable for poor quality diesel in India.

I had 2007 ford fiesta for couple of years, absolutely fun to ride car, though it was 1.4 still ride, handling was superb. and just couple of weeks ago I got chance to ride 1st gen Ecosport. I am in love with the Ecosport. we were 5 people with full luggage in boot, and total off road, still not even a single time car touched her belly. might be only disadvantage is low fuel economy.

I still drive a 2009 Ford Ikon. It was probably some of the last to roll out before Ford pulled the plug on it! The ride quality is still excellent, still drives pretty well - but now its a bomb to maintain....so quite difficult to retain it any longer...
