sitting in my relative's 2014 tsi polo and seeing it touch 100 in no time on Yamuna expressway for me is still a great memory and also that cramped up last seats where we sat with difficulty. So good memories.
I have a 2021 Polo HL+ Manual and I love this machine. It generates 114bhp !!! I will always keep this even if I buy bigger and better cars in future!!! A gem of a car!!
Superb .....loved each and every minute of this Episode, so much passion in every word. Proud owner 2014 PoLO 1.6GT TDI ( my first car) That combination of performance , build quality ,handling and efficiency at that price was , is and will remain unmatched, going strong as new after 140k kms still delivering 20+ kmpl on highway runs.....what a Car....
What a tribute @Evo India. I'm feeling really proud to own the legendary machine, The Polo 1.0 TSI You guys should push VW India to bring back the Polo facelift.
Absolutely loved the video! I had the polo 1.6 MPI back in college and loved it so much. Even with a stage 2 tune and free flow exhausts, it was no match for stock GT TSIs but the car had so much character and there was such a sense of pride watching Sirish hoon the 1.6 on the rally stage. Had such fond memories that I got myself a 09 GTI as my first car in the US!
What are you saying, I owned the 1.2 MPI and never felt lack of power on Highways, had many fun and fond memories. Yes it was not as fast as TSI but 1.2 MPI, drove in 140 kms as well sometime and never felt any lack of confidence. It just hugged the road.
Such a lovely tribute to Polo and that finish with the Taigun was brilliant. I could absolutely relate to the fact that the Taigun has Polo’s genes. I had to trade in my Polo for the Taigun GT. The first thing I felt after spending some time with the Taigun was that it was as if my Polo evolved and got bigger. I was wondering why no one was talking about it. It came as a pleasant surprise when you mentioned😍😇
It was 2012, i was a 13yr old kid who collected car pics that's when I saw the polo and vento in a magazine......soon turned into my 1st love and dreamt to own one.... after 10yrs that dream came true with the Vento....hope you all achieve your dreams
The sort of noises that came out of Sirish sir's mouth out of excitement in this video are a testimony to the feeling this car can give an enthusiastic. I've always wanted a Polo. Could never own one. Considered a used one, but was scared of the ownership costs. I hope they launch the facelift though.
Lovely tribute to Polo.....Gone but not forgotten......Proud to have Vento 1.6 TDI even after passing 10 years the beast roars on roads....Massive Respect to Polo & @evoindia.
Lovely tribute to the Polo…. Extremely proud to own two of them. 😀❤️ You guys missed out on the 1.0 L MPI engine that Polo had as a replacement to the old 1.2 MPI. With 76 ps and slightly lower(compared to old 1.2 MPI) 95 nm torque, it was also quite refined and fuel efficient with better NVH levels. It was just adequate for city and occasional highway trips. While I agree that Taigun offers everything that Polo missed, it is not yet the perfect upgrade for existing Volkswagen Polo, Vento owners. It still misses out on a lot like: 1. Fit and Finish issues: exposed screws, cheap sun visor, cheap roof-liner (improved from the first lot but not quite up to the standards). Polo Vento had better plastics and just better overall fit and finish. I still feel the door thud of Polo Vento is better than 2.0 cars. 2. Puny horn - just doesn’t sound VW enough. 3. Signature VW feature - Opening/Closing windows via remote. 4. One touch up down for all four power windows. The 2.0 cars are appealing to the ones who are new to VW Group. But unfortunately these shortcomings are putting off the loyalists and existing owners who wish to upgrade within the same brand. These are not big issues but definitely play a role in decision making for a customer. However, a big thank you to Volkswagen for keeping the driving dynamics intact. I completely agree that even the MQB A0 IN cars are fantastic to drive. ❤️❤️
Thank u Sirish to come up with a vlog on our loving polo. We own 2014 1.2 l petrol model in grey colour. We love it. Bought it for my wife. She really adores it. Mainly used fir city drives but occasionally we take it on highways. It doesn't disappoint in performance. Driven at 150km per hour. So stable, grippy and wow cornering. I own 2013 Rapid. I love these German cars. I donot intend to upgrade for now. Love both the cars. Thanks again for the beautiful vlog Gone but not Forgotten. Love you.
I have a 2012 polo highline 1.6TDI still running like brand new ( odometer reading : 65439km ) been like almost 10years since we have owned it and no regrets at all
2014 I had gone to test drive newly launched i20 , next door was VW showroom just thought casually of taking a polo test drive , rest is history from that day till today I am driving POLO …..
Bought the last of the 1.0 TSI manual. Never fails to impress. So many fond memories and many many more to be made on it. A true legend.. My family never found the back seats to be that cramped or any important feature to be lacking. In fact they feel more comfortable and less nauseous in my Polo as the body movement is very less on long journeys at high speeds compared to other cars. It's not spacious by any means but it felt more roomy than Swift and many other hatchbacks of its size. The new Baleno and i20 are more spacious and feature rich but none of them can ever beat the Polo on any other factor. List of upgrades: • Race concepts drilled rotors with carbon ceramic brake pads and steel braided brake lines (Brake fade? Not any more..) • Philips Ultinon PRO LED headlamps (DIY upgrade, I can see things now at night) • Reversing camera (I don't get stuck on a rock any more)
I'm from GOA 🏖 I have seen cross polo long ago in 2014 near margao and that's it after almost 9 years I haven't seen a cross polo again it's that rare.
Kudos for putting this video and models together. I own 1.6 GT TDI Red Polo with 2.25 lakh kms done and still running at its best. Performance comfort enthusiast driver car. Love you GT. VW should bring back polo. Indians wills welcome with open hands again 🎉
3:40 possibly because of the presence of Golf in the international market along with the Polo, VW would never want the cheaper Polo to be more popular than the Golf, which was one of the most popular cars, especially in Europe
Thank you EvoIndia. I've had a Polo 1.6 from 2011. Still works well and has never failed me. As nice as the Taigun sounds, it's still a small SUV/MPV and not a hot hatch : )
1.2tdi wasn't so frustrating as you said.. It didn't have to stress hard to get to speed or felt underpowered... I still drive it.. More than 10 years.. Impressive torque, great power and speed.. The problem was that for many people driving a diesel car was a new stuff.. And yes.. That's where the wrong impressions of less power came... Because petrol engines have good initial pick up and thrust where this 1.2 engine felt problematic..
Historical account of Polo and its evolution through time ultimately into Taigun is a very welcome move. I have also test drive all the available crossovers and compact suvs in the market and finally select Taigun GT for excellent quality of drive.
Polo was my first car which I had to wait for 6 months after booking in 2010. I really cherish the build quality and handling of Polo. The only thing I was not so impressed was 3 cylinder noisy engine and engine is to heat up quickly.
Hats off to VW's commitment to promoting driving enthusiasm in india...Polo is a great example of that....this legend will always live in enthusiast's heart
26:38 is that a flat rear tire? nevertheless, I was just thinking yesterday whether "Gone but not forgotten" was over. And boom! Just as VW heard you, you heard me. Kudos, Evo India. Loved this video!
Lovely lovely video!! I still roc my TDI Vento after 11 years. Same character minus the space issue. In a way that's a tribute to the original hatchback it is based on.
I have to drive around 200 kms. Was planning to procrastinate. Man didn't this video brought the driving thrill in me? Can't wait to get behind my Freestyle's steering wheel.
Still remember when I test drove the 1.2 tdi (may be it wss petrol I don't remember) back in 2009. It was my first time driving a German, the sales executive took me to the highway for the test drive and I was totally awestruck by the stability and solidity of the vehicle, have never experienced anything like it (coming from a maruti). Even though it has been said 1.2 tdi was a slow motor with a lag below 1800 rpm but for a guy coming from Maruti.. Polo was a different world, though I was a fan of swift at the time but polo was magnificent/class apart. Evo India please keep pushing VW to bring back the Polo whether in CKD form CBU form whatever.

I am having a Polo 2014 1.5 TDi 90 PS and 230 NM of Torque No Car comes close to this Beast . I have driven 90K Kms and there no Problem of any sort in my Car , Love the Rustic Car as it is . But Sadly due to Pollution Norms of Delhi thanks to Kejriwal and his Stupid Decision Makers I will have to Let go off the Beast this Year and Buy a New Car . I have even got a 28.1 Kmpl Mileage with it recently , Polo's Ride Quality , Engine and Driving Comfort can never be matched by any car . Thanks VW for bringing the Legend to India and I seriously wish you Bring it back on Roads again , Once you have driven a Polo continuously , You will Never like any other Car . It would be nice if evo could also do a consumer advice segment about the used Polo market since there are so many engines out there. Let's not shy away from the fact that VAG products turn into money pits very quickly and that for every enthusiast out there enjoying arguably India's only mass market sportscar, there are two people crying actual tears about a pandora's box of endless issues and repairs. How can one ensure the best possible driving and owning experience with a used Polo under 10 lakh?
I bought the highline TSI automatic the same sunset red you drove my biggest gripes about it are the nonsensical headlights, i feel blind while driving at night and second the bad quality of wipers, the wipers start making noise and streaks within 7 odd months of changing to new ones. VW didn't address these two main issues. Other than that the car is an absolute gem love it. Heard earned money very well spent. Will never sell it.
Cars like swift & i20 updated with different facelifts Cars like polo updated with many different engines❤️🔥 Vw proved dat they only focus on engines❤️

the real OG's know the 1.6MPI highline
I wanted to know about the Polo and this was my introduction and it was so beautiful.
legend! truly king of throne... we miss you polo
There is no 1.5 TDi in the video ???
What a presentation 🔥💯🔫
I bought the highline TSI automatic the same sunset red you drove my biggest gripes about it are the nonsensical headlights, i feel blind while driving at night and second the bad quality of wipers, the wipers start making noise and streaks within 7 odd months of changing to new ones. VW didn't address these two main issues. Other than that the car is an absolute gem love it. Heard earned money very well spent. Will never sell it.
Cars like swift & i20 updated with different facelifts
