Runescape taught me about economics. Seriously, when I took an economics class in college 10 years later, I found out the only thing I still needed to learn was the names of the concepts I had already experienced.

RuneScape taught me many diferent things, like Economy, supply and demand, the world is big, but the most important thing this game taught me, and I am very grateful with Jagex for this: English. I can perfectly understand English and it has opened many doors in life so far. Thanks for all. (I am spanish-speaking native)

n.1 was legit af. Today someone followed me in game, after like 5mins i stopped and asked if he had something to say. i realized that he was on my friends list too. he asked if i remember him, and told me that we used to play together. it was true, we met at barbarian village just after osrs release and we used to train together when we were noobs. So after few years we met randomly in game and that guy acted like it was real life. funny af. we stood there doing nothing like 35mins just chatting. what a grt guy. made my day, i was so happy after that. it was so weird feeling. i had to come watch your vids again after that. i hope you will come back and make new vids. much love mote!

The end of the video really got me thinking and got me a little emotional... I've been playing RS since 2003 when I was just 9... I remember where and when I first clicked the Login button and the effect the game has had on me all these years... it got me kinda thinking... Im at a stage right now (and have been for the last 2 years) Where I dont enjoy RS as much as I used to... In fact I find it boring and when I am on I just bank stand... But I didnt realise this before watching this video. I never quite understood why I have this connection to RS and why I log in every single day when I dont do much on the game... But RS got me through some really tough times in my life... I used to be bullied every single day for 3 years of my life... and I think RS is honestly what saved me... I moved to England a year earlier and didnt know the language and was made an easy target... I picked up the English Language playing Runescape... I also didnt have any RL friends who I could rely on.
Anyway enough of that... Just thought I would share my experience :P

I Started in 2004 when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I played until the PK riot of 2007, and later came back on and off. RS has honestly probably taught me more about world culture, language, online communication, lurers, scammers, finding a goal and grinding until you reach that goal, Runescape has taught us all so much.
We had those "word per minute" typing tests back in 4th and 5th grade and I was literally the top student in typing because I learned how to from pvping and typing "give me the loot please" over and over lmfao I am now graduated from high school and on my way to college but I have to literally give a huge thanks to runescape for teaching me to type fast

This game thought me a lot about economics and basic production of objects (especially how some metals are made) also the compass directions!
10 years ago, when I was a noob, someone gave an Addy battleaxe, it made me happy, I have never forgotten it, so later, over the course of a few years, I gave away 100 Addy battle axes to people who could weild them but had mithril or lower.
I remember waking up early on the weekend just to play the game, because we did not have enough computers for all of us ( me and my two brothers ), so one of us had to wait. Runescape literally took over our lives. And playing the game at a young age when english isn't your first language is interesting :D, failed most of the times doing ridiculously simple tasks. Good times.

I started playing runescape when I was 6. In 2005. Now, if I had a chance to get that 10 years back, and do things over again...I'd have started playing runescape when I was 6, in 2005. This game has taught me so much. It taught me how to read, problem solving, how to type (My family is always a bit confused when they see me pumping out word after word on the keyboard, without even glancing down at it. Give me any keyboard of any size, and 24 hours, and by the end of that period, I'd have mastered it.), basic social concepts, persistence, patience, and actually reading thoroughly, whether it be reading the situation, the environment, or a wall of text. It taught me that not everyone should be trusted, and how to tell the difference between a trustworthy person and a non-trustworthy person. It gave me a sense of community. I learned how to spell extremely well, and I was good at puzzles. Compared to my friends who didn't play runescape...Who spent their days playing outside with their friends...I was on a whole other level. (Not being a braggart, or anything.) It helped me to learn that you can be nice without being naive, and that you can be good at what you do without being a dick about it.
I am thankful for this game, and for all the friends I've made, skills I've acquired, and lessons I have learned because of it.

I started playing runescape again due to the nostalgia I felt and curiosity of what it has become today. I saw some of your videos recently and thought, hey maybe I will give making videos of rs as well...and good job with your videos man. You make excellent videos and keep it up.
Runescape taught me not to trust Jagex because they will without warning delete your level 110 account with 3 months of membership remaining for no reason and refuse to help you when you try contacting them.
The patience is a yes, that's what helps me out the most great video as always

I just watched this video as well after commenting on your most memorable moments countdown and I have to say it was extremely relatable and very impactful. I started the game was I was 10 years old as well and I'm only about a year younger than you. This makes want to play again so much more. Even as I'm typing this on my iPad I'm typing the same way as you described and doing faster than what I would have been able to otherwise without have playing runescape. Thanks again mote!
I started playing runescape when I was 6 back in 2005, I have been playing for 10 years off and on now and have recently come back to do ironman as a form of nostalgia. I have been taught much over the time I have spent on this game. Thanks for the great work on your channel along with the great videos. Keep it up!

Runescape, specifically the forms, taught me the puzzle box and the one key thing I have used for many puzzles and will never forget: One line at a time, top to bottom. I can do one of those hand held puzzles of these in less than 20 seconds because of it. Nostalgia

I've watched a handful of your videos over the past couple of days and it's making me feel so nostalgic, Mote. Started playing RS with my life long friend back in 4th grade (About 13 years ago, I was about 9) and the game was how we spent a majority of our school lives. We both grew up together on this game. Now we're both busy young men, cutting our way into the world. Running out of time for MMOs, you know. That same friend of mine and I now attend college together, and he was my groomsman at my wedding. :) I haven't logged in to RS for about.. Five years. Maybe for old time's sake, I might try to remember my password (lol) and just take a stroll through Gileanor.

People IRL are very judgemental, especially the quote on quote popular girls at school: Runescape isnt cool, or so i was taught to believe. Now, older and wiser, i know that you shouldnt be ashamed of what you enjoy and embrace it, a bit like how gays have had to deal with it. Sae rule of thumb applies to many things in life

The world is getting smaller - im now dating my wonderful girlfriend i met on runescape and we live 3000 miles away - shes a nerdy, gameaholic from a different part of the world and i fell for her and now ive been over to a part of the world multiple times that i used to dream about going to.
Girls online exist - and sometimes, can be drop dead beautiful (as seen per point above). Not all girl who game are ugly, sometimes you find a stunner online and at that point its probs best not to lose them
Runescape changes, as does life, you meet new people you try new things, yet you always seem to return to your roots
Money whores exist everywhere, and any social platform can be abused, as well as cough cough sex being used to trick those more naive
Stick to goals, always push yourself to the next level, pun intended
Runescape bought out my creative side, taught me how to edit,and allowed me to have the youtube channel i have now (not this one, i keep my main seperated from the toxicity of youtubes gaming community)
Overall, runescapes the ind of game that changes someones life. Ive been on it over half of my time on earth (not online you know what i mean but),,, Basically anyone who doesnt give things like this a shot and then mocks you for it or judges you for how you spend your time - is the real person to feel sorry for. MY hobbies, MY lifestyle MY creative talents and most importantly, MY girlfriend (which btw i meet again in 4 weeks time, fuckk yeahhhh) are all things that i could have potentially missed if i never stumbled across this game.

this one hits home on many levels. I started around the same time you did and throughout all of the years rs has been something that has been consistent. Something that I've learned from playing rs now on and off for 10+years is that if you set a reasonable goal and stick with it that you can obtain anything you want to, and the journey is more enjoyable than the reward itself.
I love the end of the video as a hardcover runescape player myself it is great to see someone else who has been taught so much from a game that many think is pointless but it made us better people

Im from Germany and at some points i feel the same.
I never thought about my tiping skills and my english language skills i was forced to learn to play this game back then and now in 07Scape and it kind of changed my point of view at the game and some other things.
In the end i'd love to hang out with you in 07scape but my new ironman is still pretty unexperienced,so ... :D
