We're all for meeting up. Hopefully I can schedule a few things this year I meant to do last year (BattleTech and alternatives to D&D like DCC mostly).
It's a little early to know as far as events. We will see the event list in May. Thursday will have the opening ceremony. Are you going to be there Wednesday? No idea on freebies yet. You will probably want to grab a coupon book. There are some good discounts in there (depending on your interests) and some freebies (mainly the annual Crystal Caste GenCon dice). Beyond that, my advice is keep an eye on websites for products you are interested in to see if they announce anything that will be exclusive to GenCon, promos for GenCon, or possibly having things on sale there first. If you see things like that, focus on that in the Dealer's Hall Thursday morning because those types of things typically go fast. If we hear about any notable releases, promos, freebies, etc. we will try to discuss them here before the Con. Feel free to ask any other questions or let me know if I need to clarify any of that.
Event registration won't start until May 19th. The main advice right now is to make sure you have a badge before registration opens. The event catalog should be available a week (possibly two weeks, but I believe it is just one week) before registration opens. That will not be all of the events, but it should be most of them. Others will filter in as they are approved, but they will likely not have a set day or time. As far as tips for getting event tickets, my main advice is to have a wishlist filled out and ready to go before registration opens. You will be able to tell it to try to get your tickets the moment registration opens. Then you are at the mercy of the software and your internet connection. Feel free to shoot me any questions.
