@@ironmaiden3812 Meh.... meself, coming of off reading for years on end the Wheel of Time novels, the tv series of this interpretation is bad. Anything above this, the Wheel of Time series, is good. Since there is no "I know how to tell a good story BETTER than the author" shenanigans. Whatever the controversy between the cultic followers of Star Wars and those who create content within this universe is solely between the fans and those who have the means of telling their story. My grievance, therefore only stem from those writers who writes over other authors books and make a mockery of them. And there is no such mockery in the Acolyte, as I see it. Since the story is original. As original as those others, from the Mandolorian, Kenobe, Andor, etc. It is easy for us to judge, since all we do is stir hate. Yet can we do as those who make story do and create vast world building ourselves? If not, then why do we hate, and spread hate, if we ourselves cannot even do the things that they do - tell stories that stir the imagination of all those wishing to see a better life, or ponder what life might have been. This is why it is so wrong to listen to those who hate, like the numerous podcasters who steer their listeners to do this or that. Because at the end of the day, are the haters really doing this for your benefit? Or are they doing it to make some money? And if it is to make money, then who really loses in the end?

Bro get a life no one besides us is reading this book of bullshit you know the show was bad and it's a lifelong franchise for some people so to see it destroyed is a travesty and pisses them off

The Star Wars franchise have long ago been destroyed from none other than George Lucas himself in his shenanigans with trying to explain how one can control nature (the force), by saying it all comes down to some midiclorians or some such nonsense, instead of saying it comes from the control of one's self with the realisation and actualisation of nature (which is the energy that surrounds us and permeates within us - thus it is the control of our thoughts in line with nature). Matter of fact, this is not new, the less than stellar interpretation of someone else's work. Since comic books, video game adaptation of such works, have all been slandered in some manner or form, in the name of making money and profit. As an example, we look at tv shows and movies like Borderlands, Sony's Xmen and Spiderman, the Batman sequels after Tim Burton's Batman. There are a host of bad interpretations out there, yet we still watch then and don't actually garner so much hate for these shows. No, it seems, at least to me, is that the hatred that one is feeling towards someone else's work is being manipulated in order to gain some benefit. It is the same kind of hatred in fact to how in Star Wars the Return of the Jedi, where the Emperor was manipulating the protagonist's emotions in order to take their side. So, in reality, who is being a sith lord here? Who is manipulating the audience to not watch something in order for them to get advertising ratings, thumbs up, likes, and patronages? Is such hate generating better tv shows and movies for us to watch or is it giving food for others to bring into their table? And if it does bring food into the table for these podcasters, then will we ever have real honest stories or will we just keep on getting cookie cutter, check all the boxes, make the audiences happy with bells and whistles nonsense? Criticism is fine if the writer can learn from their mistakes. Yet if the criticism is coming from the want to gain fame and glory, then this is not a good thing for our society. Because not only are the writers giving us mediocre work, it also implies that those who do as they do to point out such mediocre work are themselves profiting from such negativity. In the end, if our will is not as strong as say Luke Skywalker in his confrontation with the Emperor and Darth Vader, then it is us the audience that losses in the end.

It's worth a watch if you are okay with animated. Better than the last couple Terminator movies.

What gets me about things like the various interviews around the Acolyte is that the various stupid things they said had no bearing on the show. Like the comments on 3PO and R2. Neither one was in the show. The witches might have been in a relationship with each other. If they were it wasn't a central plot point. They spout off nonsense that only upsets people and it doesn't even reflect the show. Likewise with some of the early comments out of the creatives behind X-Men '97. it sounded sketchy, then the show was great. I don't get it. Also, total agreement on Last of the Mohicans. Very good movie. I haven't watched any of the Rings of Power.

I appreciate the lengthy, thought out response. I want to briefly address the sound quality before getting into the rest. We have been going through several different configurations of microphones and positions trying to find what works best for our setup. This microphone has worked fairly well when just one of us is in the video. My voice is somewhat low and we have had issues with the microphones picking it up. Chad's voice is quite loud and there is usually no issue with a microphone picking his up. So I decided to put the microphone right in front of me thinking it would pick up Chad with no problem. For the most part it did. If we use this set up in the future I will adjust it towards him. From what I have gathered from various online comments, GenCon can't lower attendance very much without consequences. I couldn't say for sure what would be cut, but apparently certain vendors and events will scale back or not attend if the attendance level drops enough. If that is true (which it might not be), then raising prices could begin a death spiral. Raise the price, which lowers attendance, which lowers the number of events and possibly vendors. Which will cause them to contract from some of the hotel spaces they are using, keeping the convention hall basically as crowded as it is now. And with fewer events, you will lose some more people. And so on and so on. Again, I could be mistaken or have fallen for misinformation. But it sounds to me like GenCon's business model won't allow for a major contraction in attendance. I think if they somehow increase space, they will just fill it. If they lower attendance they will decrease space. That's why I question if moving it to a bigger venue like some people want will actually solve anything. I have a few possible suggestions to alleviate the crush in Dealer's Hall. First I wouldn't allow strollers, wagons, etc. for the first half of the day. Maybe make it so vendors can't have promos where they have stupidly low numbers of them? If a count could be used that's a possibility but I'm not sure it can be done. I think the only thing that has any real chance is moving the gaming out of the adjacent hall and expanding the Dealer Hall into that space, without adding very many more vendors, which will enable them to spread things out and make wider lanes. As far as lockers, I will have to check out the company but I am under the impression that they have attendants there with them. They are wheeled in and out for events, not permanent fixtures. Either don't allow bags or search them before you let any of them in the lockers. I don't mean to sound flippant here or in the video, but I think the concern is both way overblown (targeting a convention full of nerds, really?), and pointless (because current security won't stop any real threat). I saw the same car parked most of the day in front of the convention center where it is set up to have people pull in and pick up or drop off people. A car can hold a lot more than a locker. No one seemed to be in too big of a hurry to have it moved. Not sure there is a satisfactory solution on the hotel situation. Another gaming Con? That might work. Maybe convince an existing con to move to Indy.

Yeah it was kinda funny when his partner was just all in on it.

It's unfortunate that there are a few movies that I refuse to spoil and that is one of them.

Thanks for the correction on Skie/Saber. You're probably right on how the altered timeline should have been more different. As far as Destina and Kairn not having to do much to fix things, I think that was intentional. Their actions altering time got them into that mess. By going back again they mainly just had to stay out of the way of history to not change anything (too much). Maybe not the most satisfying plot idea.

It's entirely possible that there was and I simply forgot about it. It's been a while since I read those books.

I thought I remembered them saying they were going to combine the Clans (or some of the Clans) into a single book but I couldn't recall where I heard that.

Looking online, I think that is a movie called Hardware. I haven't seen that one so I can't say for sure. But, since I'm going through 90s sci fi movies and that movie came out in 1990, I might get to it.

What I meant was are the Japanese sounding rank designations actual words in Japanese, or are they just meant to sound like they are Japanese? And that likely being from the 80s, the odds of the latter are high. My personal stance, it was just me speculating out loud. I don't have any problem with it.

Or for that matter, the old Field Manual series. The general answer is there is a lot of overlap between the three with some notable differences. The Field Manuals were the originals. They had a strong emphasis on the various combat commands of their eras. There was relatively little generalized lore for each factional military (relying on other sourcebooks for that), and no painting or miniature guidance (unless you count basic and sometimes vague statements about how commands painted their elements). They were also almost entirely greyscale. They had rules to make playing combat commands distinct on the tabletop, but these were only for classic as AS had not come out yet. They are as of now the most comprehensive covering every faction and updating them from the Civil War era up to 3145. The Combat Manuals were the next attempt at the basic concept, but poor sales and financial struggles resulted in only the Mercenaries and House Kurita editions being produced. This is naturally a major shortfall if you are interested in any other faction or group. These too focused primarily on individual combat commands. They added painting and miniature guidance. They were also in color, which I personally like because the colored unit heraldry is cool to me. They also added factional fluff rules for Alpha Strike. Lastly, the Force Manuals, the most recent attempt at this type of book. It is still being produced so while in theory it is planned that each of the major factions will get a release, only Davion and Kurita has and if sales do not hold up, the line may be pre-emptively canceled. Individual combat command fluff is abbreviated in favor of more overarching lore for a given faction's military. I believe the factional fluff rules are given in a more coherent and better organized fashion and accounts well for both Alpha Strike and Classic. There is also a very large section dedicated to mech and vehicle availability for force building. There is painting and miniature guidance and the books are in color. Is it worth getting all or any of these? Though I do like them all and am generally pleased with what I've read of the new Force Manuals, probably not. Personally I favor and recommend the Field Manual series out of them all. Though, that has it's issues as it it very Civil War+ centric, relying heavily on other sourcebooks such as the OG House Sourcebooks, 20 Year Update, ect. to fill in info up to the Civil War era. And amongst those sourcebooks and even the Field Manuals, finding the actual books can be difficult. For physical copies they have of course not been in print for some time and the expected difficulties in getting physical copies exist. Even digital copies are problematic with many entries only being available via drivethru RPG and even some entries such as Field Manual Lyran Alliance not being offered through ANY official distributors (though pdfs can of course be found via more dubious means).

The PDF is what is being said on the forums, so it is a maybe. To your larger point, which I take to be "why doesn't this cover the current era?", there is a reason for that. The main box set, the starter set, and the main rules focus on 3025 (late Succession Wars era). Each era adds new mechs and technology. By the time you hit the IlClan you have added The Clan Invasion, The FedCom Civil War, The Word of Blake Jihad, and The Dark Age (maybe others). At each step they are likely losing players, similar to board games and expansions. So, they focus products like this on the first few eras because that covers the largest percentage of the fanbase (in theory).

That is in line with how the franchise has typically done things. These Force Manuals seem to be modernizations of the old Field Manuals. Back when those were published they made a series of field manuals for the then newest era, then did "update" manuals that noted the changes from the original manuals over time. I'd imagine the Force Manuals will follow a similar pattern if they sell well enough to justify successive releases. An initial run for all the major factions/groups of factions focusing on the setting's most popular eras (late succ war- civil war), followed by Force manual update(s) to note military evolutions in later eras.

I was told soon on the Hinterlands book when I asked Brent Evans about it at the booth. He couldn't narrow it down beyond that. The two Force Manuals were available at GenCon. I believe the Davion book should release first, followed by Kurita. With copies being there at GenCon I assume we are looking at months at the most as far as retail. I picked up a copy of both of the Force Manuals, but one was for someone else. I kept the Kurita book and have done an overview video of it if you are interested. @@sea_triscuit7980 Minor update. I was just browsing the official forums and saw that it was announced that the Kurita book will be out in February. Davion is supposed to be out in September.

In my opinion, from my quick flip through and reading a few parts here and there, I don't know if it is worth buying strictly for the lore. The impression that I get is that this book is for newer players to get a feel for the faction or for people coming from a game like Warhammer 40K where they are used to faction books. The crunch (game rules) part is fairly short compared to the rest. And to be clear, I skimmed it because the video is more a "here's the kinds of things to expect from these books in general" and less "here is exactly what is in this book" (that will come later once I read the whole thing). So more of an overview than an in depth review.

That's in line with other releases. CGL's editorial team is STRUGGLING.

Glad you liked it. If I am able I plan to watch it again as well. Having had a little time to think on it and watch some reviews (that helps me recall parts that might have got lost in the "new movie" moment), I stand by my 8-8.5 and think it is probably the third best in the franchise. I think the "brother" was probably the best actor, especially with what he had to work with. I'm going to make a second video where I go into spoilers and talk about the new additions to the lore of the Alien universe.

I have the newer MAD-9W2 and ARC-9W and they are beautiful on the table.

Dwarven Forge is one of the very few companies that have any kind of confidence in as far as listening to their customers and trying to walk that line between doing right by them and making a profit. With a potentially major hiccup right at the start aside, yeah GenCon was pretty good this year.
