I had a bad day too. Some old lady customer got mad at me simply because I got her order wrong even though I kept telling her calmly I'll fix it for her but she just wanted to keep acting insane. I caught one of my coworkers mocking me in front of other staff and to top it off, I'm not even getting paid for my training. I feel tired, sweaty, stressed out, and extremely depressed that I cried in the shower when I got home and crashed out on the couch. I feel like my new job is falling apart already that I very much doubt I will show up there next week unless things drastically improve by tomorrow, which I don't think will ever happen to me.
Most jobs out there these days are just high school with extra bs or worse outright gulags. Really tired of a lot of common personalities out there in society never mind the real trash that only exists for the sake of hierarchies.
Why I kept working: I'm sure no one cares, but I knew from the beginning that this was a losing game. That nothing of any lasting importance would come out of going to work week after week. But everyday I went, was a day that I could feel like a normal person. I was curious; how long could I last? How long before they figure me out? Every day that I could wake up and do the things that other people do, that was a day I was winning the battle with my own mind. And I had hope. Maybe the next book or paper or treatment or supplement would be the one that fixes me. Yesterday HR called me because I had somehow garbled the time I reported for the week. Last night I made pot pies from some stew I'd made from scratch, but then I forgot to turn the oven off for two hours afterwards. I really tried my best. But, I'm not getting better. I feel it coming closer. That day when I'll have to let go of my job and be completely at the mercy of other people. The one thing I didn't want to be in life was useless. But life has a sadistic sense of humor. The joke is always on us.
@@MillennialSteam-h3s like you've said, they pretend to pay us, we pretend to work. They pretend to want "go-getters" we pretend it's all a great opportunity. Work is just an elaborate dance of lies. But the fact that they think I'm a great employee even though I'm actually functioning with... well- a few fries short of a happy meal- intelligence-wise, proves that they don't want people who think. People who think don't do well here, and probably not in most places these days.
Sometimes I think work could use a rebrand, the current system makes it so that being a working person can be demoralizing in itself when it shouldn’t be, not to mention companies are walking back a lot of the benefits that use to come with a job like for example a wage you can support yourself on.

Even when you get what is considered a good job there is still crap. I thought I found a great job cause i want to be closer to home and family in New York City instead of being sick 8 months out in the year in Ice City Syracuse New York. So I found one at Standard Motor Products as a Quality Engineer in Long island, the salary was for 82,000usd so I assume work load will be more reasonable since less pay was less than my job as a manufacturing Engineer in Syracuse. I get hired the boss lies about expectation for the job, you end up doing 8 projects every month. Even when your Boss tell you you just need to complete 3 projects a month, if you do under 8 projects you get low evaluations even though they know the expectations are unrealistic. Boss tell you you can come between 7am to 9:30am as long as you do your 8hrs and 30 minutes of work. But regardless boss expects you to work till 5:00pm regardless and to get things done enjoy not having a Saturday. I have mentioned multiple times these pass too years of getting another two engineer to help out, but no change has been implemented for the last 2 years. Lots of things don't make sense, you work in a extreme open space non cubicle environment. If I slightly turn my head to the side, I can see everything my boss does, the person who sits behind me is within a arm reach and it take exactly two steps to reach my boss desk who likes to micro manage. The reason why it doesn't make sense is majority of the workers on my floor is customer service, HR and admin who work remotely 3 days out of the week, so 65 percent of the floor is empty most of the week. The environment is cold, if you haven't started there from like 7 years ago, nobody wants to interact with you and even if your new nobody shows you around, you have to do that yourself. You get quarterly reports on how much the company is making they make roughly over a billion dollars a year. So you think you get a good bonus, wrong you get your bonus which is just 1% of your salary and its taxes at about 49%. So for all your hard work of keeping the business afloat and saving them roughly 51 million and sometimes 58 million dollars a year by fixing parts and lowering the overall return rate, you get about $400. Also there is a lot of Boomers who refuse to retire at all ,so you have lots of senior management with 30+ years there so forget about advancement. I'm already searching through Indeed to see there something less soul crushing and less stressful.

A living wage as a benefit?
The rebrand would just be serfdom
Yes, I’d say a living wage is basically a benefit now as is not the norm.
