    Watch the speech Danny gives at the Grammy awards. He says something to the effect that he had hope for humanity if they had the attention span for a 15 min song and enjoyed it.

    Ok, so I've said this in other places but in a century ago, Aldous Huxley released a novel entitled Antic Hay.
    A particular paragraph went
    "Seven million souls ... in an empested atmosphere"
    [Seven Empest]

    I've been waiting for this reaction. My favorite tool song, listening to it multiple times during the day. It's about our reaction against the destructive and manipulative politicians. As much as I've enjoyed this song so much, I can't believe how it depicts my feelings towards our immoral government after the tragic train crash in Greece...sorry, don't want to make any body feel sad, I just want to say: don't trust the government and the politicians! People deserve better than hypocrites.

    I believe there was a few times during this track that you were saying to yourself “How? How? How can this band be this damn good? 😂 Thank you so much for sharing your journey with all of us, we really appreciate it!!! I too wish for more new Tool in the future, but in my heart, I think 7empest was their swan song. If so, what an epic way to go!!! Now enjoy listening to this a few hundred times more, it gets better & better with each listen 🤘🏻🌀

    Adam obviously takes the spotlight with some of his most brilliant guitar work in all of Tools catalogue and just rock/metal in general, but when you get a chance to listen again, pay very close attention to the interplay of Danny and Justin in the back laying down one of the sickest and most nuanced rhythm grooves evolving over the song you've ever heard.

    • @kevinty7

      I will take a listen back👍🏽

    People say Tool songs are too long but I don't see how they could be shorter. That's what I love about them they aren't constrained by commercial limitations it's all about the art. They stop writing when the song is done and we can deal with it. Another great reaction.

    “7empest” is a song in which Tool is apparently addressing politicians and those of a similar ilk, as in leaders and masters of public opinion. And the sentiments they are relaying towards them are not favorable. Instead, the band is basically accusing them of misleading the masses. And they make this assertion specifically in regards to a pending “tempest” which is headed their way. And this is what the stylized title of this track actually alludes to.
    A “tempest”, as many of us already know, is a word used to describe a violent storm. However, in this case, Tool is not using the expression literally. Rather they are, once again, referring to the force of some type of pending calamity or judgment.

    • @johnseward2934
      @johnseward2934 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And on top of the lyrical content, in their brilliance as a band, the instrumental soundscape of the song can be read as the sonic equivalent of having a literal tempest pass over you.

    Woke up this morning feeling really crap, anxious. Thought "damn how cool would it be if Kev had another reaction video, I can't wait for him to do 7empest". Lo and behold!
    That was 17 minutes of pure joy watching this video mate, absolutely spot on, music is the cure. About to watch your reaction to The Pot live @ Download, but yeah, please do the one of them at Reading 1993 at some point. It's amazing how far they've come as a band.
    I feel sorry for people who don't have the patience to listen to Tool, they are really missing out on some truly sublime music. Fun fact : Danny Carey did this in like 1 or 2 takes. Absolute weapon!
