  • As part of the series of supporting Chinatown. Here is a video of Dublin Chinatown in the Republic of Ireland.
There is no official Chinatown in Dublin but the unofficial Chinatown in Dublin is based in East Parnell Street, stretching from Gardiner Street to O' Connell Street.

Walking down a street with a camera with a lack of stabilisation where there are Asian restaurants without any introduction to the restaurants, what cuisine they provide, the different establishments doesn’t give any picture of what Dublin’s Chinatown is like at all.

So that's basically a street or 2 with several Chinese shops/restaurants?

Just the one long street. Was told by the locals that is Chinatown but no official title is given by the Dublin authority though.

@@MrSJT Not sure the political history but its actually in a pretty rough area (by perception I dunno if it is that rough) and not right in the centre so probably why its not an official Chinatown.

@@MrSJT there are dozens of chinese resturants shops massage parlours in this area plus the chinese population in this area is over 30 thousand the locals have called it chinatown for over 20 years but the liberals on the city council will not allow the area to be called chinatown as its a racist term and the area might become a ghetto even though the chinese community brought so much life to a very run down area of east parnell street

@@Buildbeautiful Hmmm, I believe a few councils in UK and internationally where there are China Towns would disagree with the city council with it being a racist term though, especially when the Chinese community itself don't find it racist. Who better to judge if it's racist than the race itself in question
