Anyone who would “hate” you for this, is someone who never found happiness. You two are adorable and perfect for each other.
The " caught and not taught" is so true with children. Brian said you can say things to kids plenty, but it's what they see is what stays with them.
18:25 this is huge, my partner and I have the same rule. We always talk it out, never sleep on an argument or go to bed feeling frustrated with each other. I've talked about this before, and was told a few times, "You won't do that for long", but it's been 8 years so far. We still never go to bed mad at each other. This is a lot easier to do when you and your partner are good communicators and genuinely seek to understand one another and to be understood. I find that's most often achieved through being vulnerable with one another and being well intentioned. I relate to Keri in the sense that I could let things fester if my partner wasn't also insistent on talking it out, but I'd much rather not, it's never a good feeling.
We have the same rule and in 26 years of marriage we have had only one time when we went to sleep mad at each other only because it was super late and we were both just too tired to deal but we made up immediately when we woke up the next morning.
This was great all around. Reminds me of the interview from Vice Grip Garage he had with his wife. You two operate in different worlds but the similarities are striking. If more people were like you guys the world would be a much better place. And in my mind that's as good a compliment as i can give. Keep up the great work. You're setting an example that reaches beyond the industry you're helping to build.
Hearing about the toxic relationship and how it hurt Brian it'll be great to hear about the healthy relationship that built a family, championships, international strongman show, and multiple companies!
The college sport makes sense, the deadlift is a high bar. No pun intended 😂

My son shared this podcast with me about 2 months ago, and now, I am all caught up, but I'm also a little sad that I have run out of Shaw Strength Podcasts. Sometimes, I listen these not just for the interviews, but because Brian puts off such a positive attitude. When you're having a tough day, you can listen to Brian's interviews to feel motivated again. 💪
I understand Brian's desire to read to the kids. I love reading to mine, mine are 9 & 12 and they still love to listen. I'd to it for them till they were 20 if they wanted.

I absolutely love these podcast with my favorite athletes wives explaining their side of things because I know how hard bodybuilding prep can be on my wife, which I’m sure is same as powerlifting because they are both very selfish sports. But I also know without my wife’s support I wouldn’t or couldn’t do the thing that makes me sometimes miserable lol but happy. I always say beside every great man there is an even greater wife or spouse supporting and helping mold that greatness. Great great podcast sir and Ma’am Shaw.

You two have similar perspectives and similar coping skills. You two are well suited for each other. I really think that this is ideal for the challenges you face together. Your belief in each other and faithfulness to each other is highly commendable.

5:29 There may be a lot of nay sayers in terms of a man's criteria for a good wife, but a lot of those people don't understand that it's perfectly fine. Sure it makes life harder, but it's well worth the time you took to find that special someone. Hell, my father didn't get married until the age of 30. It's been 14 years, and he's still with the same woman.
Screw the critics and nay sayers, Brian. You made a choice, and it worked.

It's interesting how the same blueprint you can apply to builting your strength in a strictly physical sense can also be applyied to any other aspect, like building a relationship with foundations. Amazing two individuals and couple.

Let's hear it for open, honest communication! Always good to see that in a relationship. The Mr. and I have been together for almost 20 years, largely thanks to our communication style. Supporting each other is important, too. There's nothing like knowing your person has your back. It's awesome to hear that you two have such a solid partnership on so many levels.
That means your kids got great genetics! Both mom and dad are worthy physicaly and mentally and that is awesome 💪🏻💪🏻you guys seem like great ppl

This podcast gives me the sense that Brian can be difficult to deal with sometimes. Thank god for woman like Keri.
Depends on how you look at it, to be the best you have to be demanding and believe in your visions, those aren’t always pleasant conversations. So yes it takes a special partner to not only support those dreams but to actively help with those dreams. There’s a reason why Brian and Kerri have the life they have. Think my wife or I would give a shit about being difficult if it means we have a better life?

I met my soul mate when I commented about one of her owls on a friends FB post. Even though we were in different parts of the UK we talked everyday on the phone, especially when she was feeding her owls at night, and on messenger. We metup a lot and had a great time for 2 short years before she died suddenly from an undiagnosed brain tumour

I like that your list included things that are directly related to discipline and you stayed true to yourself. I’ll be the one to say it, her not being a teacher today shows she knew when she met you what the future held and is reaping the rewards of that 300 pound dead lift

@@momothunder9544 if you travel around the world each culture as it’s own definition of what is good. If we rely on feelings to help us be a good moral upright person we can never achieve it. For all have sinned and came short of the glory of God. Then our righteous is as filthy rags to God. The Bible also said that none are righteous no not one. Sin is the wall that separates us from God but Jesus is the door in the wall, and every one is free to open it and talk to God themselves. King Solomon also said that the ways of man are clean in his own eyes, that being said we can all justify our sin. Helping others and loving yourself is not enough to be a good person you need to love God and trust in Jesus.
