I went with a Sound Barrier Floor Mat as it includes both a closed cell foam to absorb/decouple the noise and a high density mass loaded vinyl layer. The foam also acts as a thermal insulating layer.
I use a combination of deadening. I'd put the more expensive stuff where it can withstand heat but the trunk and back could just use other non asphalt material.
Re future weatherstrip episode - interested to know if you looked at installing a more "modern" door seal weatherstrip such as that from the early model Kia Sportage (still available new from Kia).
Did you use anything special to flatten the dynamat to the contours? I see things that look like pizza cutters and mini paint rollers being sold. Looking forward to the weatherstrip video, especially what isn't included and your thoughts about the doors being too hard to shut. Thanks for all your hard work! Still applying/sanding filler on my 280...
I did use the small roller thats available in the links in the description...they have another kit that has a bunch of rollers if your trying to get every nook an cranny but I didnt find em necessary. Just the 1.5" roller worked great.
I love your content but not sure what the knocking of panels are supposed to prove. Surely we would learn more by having a sound meter on the inside while having an external or knocking noise on the outside.
There’s a video out there of a guy doing all this with a different brand. He concluded a decimeter is useless for sound deadening analysis cause this won’t really change peak decibels but rather specific frequencies and drones that are more audible that other frequencies. Not much will change peak decibels besides well sealed cars
The fact that this guy covered every possible millimeter should tell you that he doesn't understand the purpose of Dynamat. Butyl>Closed Cell Foam>Mass Loaded Vinyl. Don't worry about the brand.

Awesome! Thanks for watching and commenting
Andrew B, do you have a link to it? I can't find it.

Saw another YT video using HVAC repair tape (6" wide rolls). Sticks like no one's business. Used on the ceiling in the cab of my 12 Valve Cummins.
Yep, mastic tape. I don't know if I'd consider it as effective sound deadening though...but sticks absolutely lol
I use roofing tar and shingles to dampen the trunk of my car. Been over 7 years and no issue, 100 degree summer days as well.

Lol, a friend of mine bought some NOS kia weatherstripping. I wouldnt be so sure of availability these days, or for much longer anyways

Sometimes more expensive is well worth the cost.
Yup totally agree!
Especially with prostitutes

I dont own a Decible meter so i improvised. Thanks for watching!

We left a few millimeters uncovered 😉
DB Armor shits on Dynomat but it’s more expensive 😂
Over 1/2 of the video (perhaps more, I couldn"t take more talk after 6 min.) The title was Dynamat installation not your life's story!
Thanks for watching!

I use old underwear with holes in it.

eh, I didn’t want the car to smell like asphalt shingles so I went with a ‘tearless’ alternative
