The real problem that a lot of people have when playing hag is that you teleport to a trap and you dont get a hit, you get nothing just a chase. It feels as survivors can just run through a trap and not deal with a consequence.
@@AverageGamerNub-qf6sp There really isn't. Other than running the green add-on, if a survivor is good enough then you need to rely on the survivor team making a big enough mistake that you can capitalize on. Thankfully, most people you play against won't be tournament level so you can still win, but against the very best teams the Hag will always have a hard time.
my Idea for a buff: They should make it so that when a trap is initially set they are invisible and cannot be interacted by the survivors for a few seconds, that way survivors can't just wipe it the moment it's placed
I think the reason you don’t see a lot of Hags is for the following reasons: -She has a steep learning curve that is difficult to get past in today’s meta. She’s not your typical chase killer, she can’t down survivors at your average loop without set up. And if you’re newer to killer, you’re likely to get bullied. A lot of the things that make a traditional killer (good chase, loop cut off, mobility) she is just not good at without set up and a plan. -She can get boring. I have a Hag build that I use because it’s reliable, but it is the same thing every single time with little variation, and it can get stale. -Her higher tier add-ons are gimmicky. A lot (not all, but a lot) of higher tier add-ons just make the killer’s base power more effective with a downside that varies from kind of annoying to “you better know this killer inside and out I swear to god”. Hag’s high tier add-ons encourage you to change the way she plays completely (which is hard, considering what she is). I’ve rarely touched those add ons because of that. -In my opinion, she is just hard to fit in the meta. She can feel very strong to face, or very easy. She can feel very good to play, or you struggle to get anything done. She doesn’t have a lot to rely on if her strategy falls apart. -She must be nigh impossible to adept in the current meta. Props to anyone who can do it, but it must’ve taken HOURS.
hag is very interesting. its so different from other killers and seems pretty intimidating. But the concept of playing like a spider a constantly harassing one survivor who is caught then those who save them is a cool gameplay loop
as a hag player, she's SO fun, after I fell in love with doing hit n run wraith and a few other speedy m1 killers, playing hag just feels so utterly incredible. Closing off whole areas of the map, knowing there's nothing survivors can do. Go ahead, pop 3 generators, my territory is marked and none will escape it alive :) much more slow paced n methodical, but when she gets going it's just injury-teleport-injury-repeat :)
I'm also a Hag main, and she can be insanely strong and oppressive. It has taken me a lot of time to learn which areas on most maps that are good to set up around, while still having a backup plan in case rng screws it up, or the survivors finishes one of the gens I wanted to hold, but matches can end really quickly most of the times. I do think she could definitely use some buffs, such as making it harder for survivors to simply trigger the outer edge of the trap and completely 100% avoid a hit if she tps, even with coup and even with superior reaction time from the Hag. That can legit render her completely useless if survivors know that. I feel like if the hag set up her trap well, reacted at the precise second they triggered it, tps and manages to lunge immediately on tp, and if the survivors mess up and trigger it, she shouldn't be so punished for it. Thats really the only buff she needs imo, as it would counter those who are only harassing her instead of playing around the traps. Also been playing a lot of survivor lately and I swear I have never met a Hag, which saddens me. I have seen more Twins, Singularities, Artists and Freddies together, than just one Hag. I'll keep counting my days until I go against one.. :(
Unironically I think the hag is boring as fuck BUT she has one saving grace that makes her fun to me The racecar build You take Waterlogged shoe addon and then the rusty shackles addon then you take perks that help with haste (Machine learning, Batteries included, PWYF), Slow survivors (Forced Hesitation), or recovery speed (STBFL, Bamboozle), and maybe an end game perk or two (No-ed, no way out) you are now so much faster than survivors they can't loop you and you can literally do laps around them while you're sped up and they're slowed down and they can't do shit
I end up playing against Hag quite often, she's probably around the 7th most common killer I ever go against after Wraith, Ghostface, Huntress, Chucky, Doctor and Nurse. I've never encountered Twins, Knight, Leatherface, Unknown, Dredge, Clown, or Artist (and the only time I got a Freddy, he was AFK the entire match)
@@bubu20202 Have fun! Just remember that the build should still work if you can't play for the basement; don't throw the match trying to force it every game.
i love playing the hag but i always feel like the information that killer is kept from having hits the hag 10x harder and it sucks, and that was before the gen and hook changes
I'm fairly new to hag myself (been on a quest to p3 all characters), but I'm pretty fond of how she plays. I just feel like range add-ons are almost mandatory cuz of how strict the range is without. edit: I should specify teleport range. the trigger range is fine as is
I used to main her and get lots of kills but honestly it was just that the players had no idea to counter her. Had some players trying to use flashlights on traps lol. But for those that knew how to counter her. I had no chance
certain maps are also problematic .... crows eye , all traps can be seen in every location. so the swiping of traps has heavily nerfed the hag, the reduction of trap radius has also worked against her, covers less area and gives survs the ability of getting closer to the trap before the need to crouch. why did the swipe of traps come into play, because they cried enough to bhvr , and they listened and gave the surv the choice to destroy the killers power. any mechanic that destroys the killers mechanic is bad for any killer but for hag its more damning because of slow speed . shes not built to chase , shes a teleport killer . so with survs being able to remove her power , the hag now becomes the slowest m1 killer. i mained her from 2017 until the release of xeno. i now have more concerns for her, as there is a tradable hook state perk incoming , so a dark cloud looms, which will affect her more than other killers
I have to disagree pretty heavily about the trap radius addons. The tighter radius is VERY strong, as it helps stop survivors who are skilled enough to know the default radius and trip all your traps at max distance to destroy them fast without getting hit. With 30% smaller radius you can often get hits in that you wouldn't before. Basically, the old addons helped against bad survivors who were accidentally triggering your traps while the new are good against skilled survivors. And which of the two would you prefer help against? I do understand your frustration though. Hag is in a pretty rough shape.
@@TheScreamMachinesurvs crouch less to destroy traps, and less time crouchin when unhookin or moving away from trap hooks. i never had the problems with trap radius , i didnt mention the add ons i was on about the base trap radius change. the only time i wouldnt get hits which is still valid tech that use , when survs disarm traps by lookin away when purposely activating traps. with the reduced radius survs also spend less time within the radius .i rarely missed any tele hits, but since the trap nerf , iv had an increase of misses. so i do see your point , however the hag has been nerfed which has led to many not using her. of which was the point that i was makin. iv evolved with her nerf, as now 90% of traps are now route traps but new hags will find her frustrating tho. i wasnt been argumentative , nor was i disagreeing with your points , i was just adding my experience to where are all the hags? giving the survs the power to make the hag a slow m1 killer has no downside to the survs.which is wrong i feel as to the question, if my traps wernt activated they would be in the wrong place. the add ons that iv used from when i started i still use to date, 1 range for tele and 1 for reduced trap placement time. the swiping of traps in my opinion was the greatest nerf of the hag. survs didnt want to learn how to play against the screamed for bhvr to help them lol
@@dojo45789 Defensive killers are definitely a different experience from other killers. I'm glad DBD has a large enough roster for there to be such a good variety of killers.
I like playing Hag quite a bit, but only because of my scroll wheel. If I didn't have a scroll wheel that spun really well, I'd imagine I'd hardly touch her
Funnily enough I've never had a problem with the default control teleport. I've thought about switching to the scroll wheel but I'm afraid my muscle memory is too strong at this point.
She's weak for newer players trying to play her. But she is strong for a player knowing how to use her power properly. I have over 1k hrs and have had both very weak and very strong hags. Just depends on the person playing killer, and the team you're with. She also had a trap change that was a bit controversial. You use to be able to burn the traps with flashlights, now they do a remove hex action. That added to the hag hate train
@@ItzZWolfey Thank you for the critique. I typically like to keep the visuals a bit simple so they don't distract from the info too much, but I can play around with it a bit and see how it feels.
I moved to maining hag. But I do a chase hag. Start the match with a few traps before downing someone and injuring 1-2 more before doing more traps. Makes survivors slow down a bit before putting even more pressure.
@@TheSnipersRWatching Honestly? Sounds like a lot of fun. Record a couple games and throw them up on your channel and I'll be happy to watch 'em, and I might actually try playing it myself. I was just thinking about deathbound on Hag, actually. Do you feel like it gets you a lot of free hits?
The worst way to play against a hag is to be altruistic. Helping ither aurvivors that are in the Hags web will only put both of you in danger. Forcing players to drop objective and save each other is the deadliest strategy. I've played games with hag where I hopk someone as a trap is being set off by an injured survivor in a different area. I've gotten consecutive downs and even chased two people at the same time in sepparate pallets, just because they set off traps I put down. The pressure you get by just luring rhem in is insane
I just had a game yesterday where while I wasn't playing for basement, I had to hook a survivor there on their 2nd hook. They suicided, which was actually the tactically correct decision since it forced the other 3 to not be drawn into the web.
I think the main solution to making Hag more popular: we just feature-creep the fuck out of her. I mean, her lore is that she's some sort of which, right? How about we give her a bunch of different glyphs to draw that do different things and control the map, at the cost of, say, making her 4.2
i like hag but if you want to win you kinda need to play like a lot of the weaker killers. 3 gen, slow down. she is slow, no anti loop. i play her sometimes just cause a like the idea of jump scaring ppl sometimes. if i lose oh well.
I used to main Lisa. Nobody likes going against her anymore. When I do play her half the lobby dc's and the other half kills themselves on hook. It's not like you can't easily counter her. She's slow as hell and you can harrass her traps and ruin the whole game for her. They say she's too boring and no fun to go against. I personally think she's fun to play as and go against. I would love to play her more but on days I'm waiting 5 or so minutes to get into a lobby and the game is over in 1 minute or less because of dc's, it sucks.
Yeah, I hear you. The dc problem is much bigger than just Hag though, I swear half my games have someone dc nowadays even if I'm playing a "bad" killer like Legion or Wraith. There just isn't a big enough incentive for survivors to finish the games they start when dcs are basically free.
@TheScreamMachine Amen to that. Yea they used to lose pips for dc's. Wish they would have kept that in the game. But oh well, what you going to do? Good video by the way.
With Hag's limited range and slow movement speed, it leaves her few options, but it definitely can be frustrating to play against. Thanks for watching.
Well devour hope is one of Hag's perks, so I'm not surprised they have that, but if Hag is common for you then you just have crazy luck, statistically speaking.
Nobody plays Hag for the same reason why nobody plays Knight/Trapper/Skull Merchant: The average dbd player doesn't like strategic, macro oriented killers. The top most popular killers are always micro, adrenaline pumping trickshot type killers. Huntress, Blight, Chucky, etc. Hag is strong but despite that she isn't played because she's not that type of killer. I'm convinced the majority of the community simply lacks the necessary mindset to enjoy or even understand these types of killers. Evident by how basically everyone says Merchant takes no skill whilist completely ignoring her entire trap aspect and focusing entirely on pressing m2 on loops. Infact, many are in denial that merchant is a trap killer at all. Well, she was... until they deleted her entire kit.
Same reason people don’t play Plague or Skull Merchant, she’s too good at her job and ends up feeling tedious and boring after match or two. I personally like it if the killer I choose is challenging to play and encourages me to chase. After all chases are the most fun aspect of this game. Huntress, Slinger, Nemmy, Xenomorph, Demo, and Wesker more than meet this qualification.
Just because she's least played doesn't mean she's not good she can make a 3 gen a nightmare. Now, there are just even more brain-dead killers for 3 genning, that's all.
Personally I just don't think she's fun to play. She's for a very particular type of Killer player, the same that play Trapper. Most of the maps are so big that they don't give a lot of time for set-up, which is a big turn-off. I personally hate her backstory, it's a complete mess, and the "hag" is factually a young girl, something something voodoo magic. Boring. I really hated Hag back in 2022 when all they did is hook someone and dump 6 traps around the hook. Like you pointed out, Basement Hag (like Trapper, if not worse) is almost impossible to rescue against. Most people in solo queue just quit.
Hag isnt popular because the playstyle of hag isnt conducive to fun matches, killer players aren't going to gravitate to a style/killer that makes all the survivors quit the match early. Getting free hits on basement unhooks isn't impressive because you put traps around the area. sure it's definitely efficient, but it sucks the fun out of the core gameplay
The only reason hag isn't played much is for 2 reasons: 4.4/110% movement speed, and no one likes taking 3 minutes to set up all traps, while 2-3 gens pop immediately while your setting up your web of denial as I call it.
I can understand that. Once you learn how to properly beat her by constant harassment of her traps, perhaps that fun factor will change and you'll enjoy the sense of power you have over her?
as a hag main, i really feel like hag doesn't need to be any faster than she already is because of how powerful and unconventional her chase can be especially after the retiring of lightburn. if they were to make hag 115 she would have to also have her traps be flashlightable again or some other big tradeoff because she's already one of the most consistent and least map-dependent killers in the game if you know how to play her
I hear you, but her traps are now WEAKER than before because now anyone can wipe them when before you needed a flashlight with juice left in it. Every killer that had lightburn removed got buffed, except for the Hag who got nerfed.
meh, i would argue they're still just as strong if not stronger. the downside of *everybody* being able to wipe them away instead of just flashlight users is pretty big, but its made up for by the fact that her traps can't be disarmed mid-chase anymore, or atleast not without the hag player making a really big mistake. i get what you mean though, i just feel like that along with the other suite of small number buffs she's gotten recently makes her just fine. i'm definitely biased though lol, love seeing hag content
Hag is definitely played, but shes so ez to win with its crazy, and that might be why people dont play her much. 😂😂then they came out with hag 2.0(the unknown) .
We don’t need any deep dives inspiring people to play hag, legion, knight, skull merchant, trickster, xeno , twins etc. enough video essays let these badly designed killers die
Because her playstyle sucks - no one likes playing trapping killers because it's the whole opposing mechanic to DBD whole tag like mechanic. You're 110 You have to camp 3gens or an area/hook You can only place traps - and your traps feel useless without addons
I think when you have 30+ killers in a game like DBD then it's a good thing to have some killers that play differently. It helps mix things up, and as a survivor you'll only improve as a player from dealing with situations you're not used to. And if you really hate her? Well don't worry, you'll only see one every few hundred hours you play.

In honor of this post I'll run hag tonight
Could you do more videos like this. I like your explanation on the killers and helps better understand them. Your video was very helpful thsnk you
Thank you for your kind words. There will be more videos like this!
Unironically I think the hag is boring as fuck
BUT she has one saving grace that makes her fun to me
The racecar build
You take Waterlogged shoe addon and then the rusty shackles addon
then you take perks that help with haste (Machine learning, Batteries included, PWYF), Slow survivors (Forced Hesitation), or recovery speed (STBFL, Bamboozle), and maybe an end game perk or two (No-ed, no way out)
you are now so much faster than survivors they can't loop you and you can literally do laps around them while you're sped up and they're slowed down and they can't do shit
Wow, that's insane luck!
I love this evil build and i'll probably use it since Hag's been sitting in my roster prestiged for too long, thanks!
@@bubu20202 Have fun! Just remember that the build should still work if you can't play for the basement; don't throw the match trying to force it every game.
Holy Moly! I can’t wait to try this 😂
i love playing the hag but i always feel like the information that killer is kept from having hits the hag 10x harder and it sucks, and that was before the gen and hook changes
I'm fairly new to hag myself (been on a quest to p3 all characters), but I'm pretty fond of how she plays. I just feel like range add-ons are almost mandatory cuz of how strict the range is without.
edit: I should specify teleport range. the trigger range is fine as is
Very informative video ❤
Thank you!
I remember when I used to be a toxic survivor and I got mad at a hag player for putting down traps in front of her obvious totem lmao
Time flies, eh?
The only reason why I don't play Hag is because of the hit and run playstyle resulting in not getting to hear the chase theme as much
Negoose (YT channel) plays a P100 Hag all the time.
@@Illsamustache Yeah, he makes some great content. Him and Michi were the two Hag mains I watched the most.
I used to main her and get lots of kills but honestly it was just that the players had no idea to counter her. Had some players trying to use flashlights on traps lol. But for those that knew how to counter her. I had no chance
flashlight was a way to counter her
Hag love? The age of 30 is in demand I see!
certain maps are also problematic .... crows eye , all traps can be seen in every location. so the swiping of traps has heavily nerfed the hag, the reduction of trap radius has also worked against her, covers less area and gives survs the ability of getting closer to the trap before the need to crouch. why did the swipe of traps come into play, because they cried enough to bhvr , and they listened and gave the surv the choice to destroy the killers power. any mechanic that destroys the killers mechanic is bad for any killer but for hag its more damning because of slow speed . shes not built to chase , shes a teleport killer . so with survs being able to remove her power , the hag now becomes the slowest m1 killer. i mained her from 2017 until the release of xeno. i now have more concerns for her, as there is a tradable hook state perk incoming , so a dark cloud looms, which will affect her more than other killers
@@TheScreamMachinesurvs crouch less to destroy traps, and less time crouchin when unhookin or moving away from trap hooks. i never had the problems with trap radius , i didnt mention the add ons i was on about the base trap radius change. the only time i wouldnt get hits which is still valid tech that use , when survs disarm traps by lookin away when purposely activating traps. with the reduced radius survs also spend less time within the radius .i rarely missed any tele hits, but since the trap nerf , iv had an increase of misses. so i do see your point , however the hag has been nerfed which has led to many not using her. of which was the point that i was makin. iv evolved with her nerf, as now 90% of traps are now route traps but new hags will find her frustrating tho. i wasnt been argumentative , nor was i disagreeing with your points , i was just adding my experience to where are all the hags?
giving the survs the power to make the hag a slow m1 killer has no downside to the survs.which is wrong i feel
as to the question, if my traps wernt activated they would be in the wrong place. the add ons that iv used from when i started i still use to date, 1 range for tele and 1 for reduced trap placement time.
the swiping of traps in my opinion was the greatest nerf of the hag. survs didnt want to learn how to play against the screamed for bhvr to help them lol
@@Dyli_And_Xeno Yeah, I see what you mean. I appreciate your perspective!
Only time I personally play hag is chase hag. Its insanely fun, I get too bored to play defensive killers that often
Battlescape music from original UFO ENEMY UNKNOWN. Good times.
If you recognized that then you have excellent taste!!
Hag Main here...Her lore is awesome.
Hag lunge attack feels weird, like it's pretty short
Good video and info. Start could use some better visuals tho but that may just be up to personal style and pacing of your video.
Sounds like an interesting playstyle!
@@TheScreamMachine Always throws survivors off. I use rapid brutality, scourge pain gift of pain, surge and deathbound
@@TheScreamMachine As per your request I did 4 games
@@TheSnipersRWatching Awesome man, I'll watch them and comment when I get a chance.
Its because if the trap wipe. That ability for a strong swf guts her power
Yeah. It was such a mistake giving that power to survivors without significant compensation.
I've always loved the hag! Loved the video too :D
awesome build
beautiful
I've seen 4-6 Hags in the past week, it's a shame cuz shes really fun to fight
@@redmandudebol Wow, that many? I've probably seen
not me thinking this was gonna be some kind of video essay...
A bit of essay, a bit of gameplay, that's what we tend do to on this channel to satisfy everyone.
Hags are gaining a lot of love on Twitter
How about we give her a bunch of different glyphs to draw that do different things and control the map, at the cost of, say, making her 4.2
It would be interesting to see what they could do with her, but if she gets any slower I might go crazy.
She’s how I got into DBD in the first place, I just can’t stand the chase music when I play her
@@blackplague883 THANK YOU! I literally complain on every DBD survey about how much I hate that 5 second loop. Our girl got shafted.
This is sad. She has such a cool design and skins
You know if it wernt for the thumbnail I would be questioning you
Literally can be the number 1 killer
0:11 how come theres no nurse?
is she !? during last 2 weeks i seen a whole bunch ,and usually played well too .
Eat your heart out granny...
Granny: no but I will eat yours 😈
i like hag but if you want to win you kinda need to play like a lot of the weaker killers.
3 gen, slow down. she is slow, no anti loop. i play her sometimes just cause a like the idea of jump scaring ppl sometimes.
if i lose oh well.
I played hag on PS4, like 5 years ago
Time flies, eh?
I could have watched a couple hours of this tbh
A man after my own heart. Thanks for watching!
I played the hag this mornin
@@mikestash9362 Thank you very much.
Do it with the body lock add on!
Of the fews hags ive seen they have all camped basement. Personally dont mind the rarity
With Hag's limited range and slow movement speed, it leaves her few options, but it definitely can be frustrating to play against. Thanks for watching.
I'd be glad to never play against hag again tbh
Wdym? I've been getting alot of hags and they all run devour of hope
Well devour hope is one of Hag's perks, so I'm not surprised they have that, but if Hag is common for you then you just have crazy luck, statistically speaking.
@ I wouldn't call it luck, they're very hard to counter sometimes lol
Why Hag is the least played killer in my opinion:
Miserable to play as
Miserable to play against
Nobody plays Hag for the same reason why nobody plays Knight/Trapper/Skull Merchant: The average dbd player doesn't like strategic, macro oriented killers.
Well, she was... until they deleted her entire kit.
dude, it's boring defending a 3 gen from the beginning. with trapper, merchant or Hag. it's not because of Macros. its because she is zzzz
@schmietwechdeschiet4340 And who the hell said you need to 3 gen with those to win?
I did Halloween hag
Same reason people don’t play Plague or Skull Merchant, she’s too good at her job and ends up feeling tedious and boring after match or two.
I personally like it if the killer I choose is challenging to play and encourages me to chase. After all chases are the most fun aspect of this game. Huntress, Slinger, Nemmy, Xenomorph, Demo, and Wesker more than meet this qualification.
kinda funny how the majority is paid content
Yeah, she takes a very specific type of playstyle that's not for everyone.
I love hag but she is too braindead for me to play regularly.
Haha where my hag at? 🫲😃🫱
The only reason hag isn't played much is for 2 reasons: 4.4/110% movement speed, and no one likes taking 3 minutes to set up all traps, while 2-3 gens pop immediately while your setting up your web of denial as I call it.
@@Scyclo That's a big part of it, along with the fact that people often don't like to play the larger macro game of keeping their web maintained.
This mori looks pretty violent. Demonetization incoming?
It's pretty gory!
As a survivor main the hag I so annoying 😊
I can understand that. Once you learn how to properly beat her by constant harassment of her traps, perhaps that fun factor will change and you'll enjoy the sense of power you have over her?
Playing against a team is awful
Yeah, Hag has it rough against swf more than any other killer.
Mainly? I just don't like her look. That's it.
@@Renchamos Yeah, her default look is kinda bland. She has some solid cosmetics but I'd love it if her default skin was more feral.
The killer's too easy lol just play singularity he's an improved hag in every way
@@trevorbergstrom00 I did indeed go from a Hag main to a Singularity main. I refuse to give up completely on my girl Hagatha though.
7:29 behavior wtf is that pallet placement 🧐
as a hag main, i really feel like hag doesn't need to be any faster than she already is because of how powerful and unconventional her chase can be especially after the retiring of lightburn. if they were to make hag 115 she would have to also have her traps be flashlightable again or some other big tradeoff because she's already one of the most consistent and least map-dependent killers in the game if you know how to play her
I hear you, but her traps are now WEAKER than before because now anyone can wipe them when before you needed a flashlight with juice left in it.
@@acidaminophen6315 Thank you for watching! I always welcome discussion on my videos, it's the best way for anyone (including myself) to learn.
I am glad hate the hag
Not you unironically making a video about camping the basement as hag and acting like it's a tutorial
because her gameplay is very tedious and boring
Hag is definitely played, but shes so ez to win with its crazy, and that might be why people dont play her much. 😂😂then they came out with hag 2.0(the unknown) .
She can’t camp anymore, that’s why no one plays her. 😂
No one played her even when she could 🤷
@ so can we agree she just sucks? 😂 🤭
she is a good killer but she is just ugly, is the reason nobody use it
She would definitely be more popular if she was more monstrous... or more sexualized (à la skull merchant).
Those survivors are trash video is irrelevant
i feel like an asshole playing her, she is way too strong and can slow down matches too much
Because she is boring that simple
Because she's a, purposely die on the first hook and move on to the next game, kind of killer and everyone knows it.
You're 110
You have to camp 3gens or an area/hook
You can only place traps - and your traps feel useless without addons
I think when you have 30+ killers in a game like DBD then it's a good thing to have some killers that play differently. It helps mix things up, and as a survivor you'll only improve as a player from dealing with situations you're not used to. And if you really hate her? Well don't worry, you'll only see one every few hundred hours you play.
