Went from a 2021 Ford F-150 Platinum to a 2023 Sierra 3.0 diesel and I’m 100% happy. This truck continues to amaze me in its fuel efficiency. So much happier with the GMC than my Ford.
@@townhall05446 if you wash and maintain your vehicle, you won't have an issue nearly as often or as quickly as people who neglect their vehicles in the winter and let the salt eat away at it.
I ordered my '20 F350 without a sunroof, specifically because of the problems that come with having glass over my head. It was almost impossible to find a well-dressed truck without the sunroof. I have had *almost* zero problems with my SuperDuty - only issue being that voice recognition stopped working at about 20K miles ...it's still under warranty.
Thank you for responding to the negative comments. Been watching for years but hate looking in the comments just to find good answers because of those should have or would never buy a… worthless comments.
When I look at new trucks the first thing I consider is the engine, transmission and transfer case and how that combination works for my situation. Next is the interior layout (upholstery color-I don’t like black interiors),comfort, and visibility from the drivers seat. The third major item is the front and back exterior appearance as well as the access to the bed. Finally I do consider the exterior color. I do check out the forums and TH-cam content and do consider those in my decision making. So I wound up with a 2023 GMC SIERRA SLT 4x4,with the LZ0, walnut/slate interior, multipro tailgate, volcanic red tintcoat. So far after 1000 miles so good. We will see what happens but I always do my due diligence and what happens, happens.
Great point JD on brand bias. I get so tired hearing folks rant about one brand and rave about theirs. Buy what you want based on if the vehicular fits your needs. Keep up the good work. THANKS!
Same exact thing happened to my 2022 Silverado since day one. The dealership had already agreed to replace the leaf springs. Before I took it in I decided to try “spring-thing universal kit”. Look it up. It will 100% solve this noise issue. It’s so worth the price. Mine have been on for over 6 months and still perfect.
Yup spring things will 100% fix his problem indefinitely. I brought it up to him in his previous video but he must have not seen it. Good advice though
I have had Chevy, GMC, Dodge and Ford. Loved all of them for the time I had them. Minor issues with each of them. It's just not a big deal. Drive what makes you happy.
Also have to remember you bought the top of the line that means you have all the bells and whistles but that also means you will have more things that brake! Hence the reason I only went with a 302a package in my f150 vs the 502a lariat package
I rather wish I'd have gotten the Lariat (much as I love my 302a XLT). I really would have liked the adaptive cruise control, and climate control. But what I was spending, I wanted to cover the bases without going crazy. Hence I have the max towing, backup assist, 36 gal tank, 3.5 Eco, navigation and the big mirrors. 25,000 miles and not one problem yet.
First, imo I think the truck is a good looking truck. I would install deployable steps to have the best of both worlds. Every truck brand has its flaws especially a new model year. Thanks for all you do making your videos!
Guess we've been lucky. Our Toyota's arw right at 20 yrs old and have never had a breakdown. Still original starters, alternators, u-joints, exhaust systems....... Been highly reliable with 250k plus miles. Our Honda's and Acura's have been superb also.
@@donmckenzie5027 It’s not a full on hybrid system, it just uses a generator in place of the alternator and uses a small battery in the rear. It isn’t plug in. Gives you extra torque from a stop. Only thing that sucks is the auto start stop but you can turn that off. If you hate that, you’re going to really hate it when they completely kill off the hemi after 2023.
@@vr4787 ya I know it’s not plug in but that etorque is horrendous and if that battery goes out the truck will not run since there is no alternator! Screw that. Yes I know the V 8 is going away from Ram as they are going to twin turbo V6 Hurricane on their Rams. It’s GMC Sierra Denali for me just trying to decide Duramax or V8 and 4x2 or 4x4.
@@donmckenzie5027 Fair enough, I got my Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman with the regular hemi so I understand wanting to keep it simple. I would still take the hemi etorque over the hurricane, the Denali is a good choice 👍
Great video! Brand bias is real and it's important to realize that any truck you buy will likely have some sort of issue... no brand is perfect. I think that Duramax sounds great even at those low RPMs!
I have had Fords all my life now changed to a Chevy 3500 High Country super happy with it, not going back to Ford anytime soon When I first moved to the city I live everyone had Fords. 10 years later its mostly GMC's and Chevy followed by Rams. There is only a handful of Fords. I know most company trucks around here have switched to GMC or Chev. Asked shop Mechanics from those companies and they say they have less problems than Fords and less expensive electronics to deal with. But your right Big Truck they all have issues. Great Video!
My concern is the leaf spring that appears to have moved and sticking out a little. I hope that you don't have that noise issue again. Thanks for sharing JD.
Good advice on the brand bias. I made sure to test drive ram rebel/ Chevy trail boss, and f-150 tremor before trading in my tundra and went with the tremor. And I’ve owned enough new vehicles to know that they all have their issues to get sorted out when new.
Glad to hear that you think you fixed the noise in the rear. Wait until the truck does its first regen cycle and the exhaust sounds really different. My 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the LM2 did its first regen and my wife thought the exhaust had fallen off.
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra SLT with the LZ0 and in has gone through 2 regens and never heard any exhaust differences. I have a BANKS IDASH that shows when regens are happening. Maybe it’s my poor hearing? No smell either but both were during normal highway driving.
It's all about preference when it comes to buying something. As a mechanic I start with engine moving on to comfort level and little features that will make my life easier. One a uncomfortable pickup truck or car will break you before you even make your trip. Again as a mechanic we have a very large fleet of all makes and models and we have many issues with Ford diesels engines and not to mention how tight it is to get working in the engine bay, many of these issues are a must for the dealer. We have a good size fleet of Dodge Ram with Cummins 6.7L and they proved to take the abuse the guys put on them, I ended up buying a Tradesman with the Cummins. Many of our units are 300k plus miles, not including idle time and over due oil change maintenance. Wife and I both love these few things about the 2022 Dodge Ram---- cab space, ride and runs smooth, the power it has for pulling our trailer which is around 7,800 pounds and a bit over 8k with motorcycle. Advice, if your looking for something I tell people to rent one for a week and see for yourself what fit's you best. Cause of our large fleet, I've driven them when they come in for repairs or service everyday. So my picks, Dodge Ram, GM 2500 and last a Ford.
You might have to keep spraying it. Back in the late 80s early 90s when i worked in a spring & muffler shop as a spring specialist, ( light , medium and heavy duty ) there was no gap in between the leaves. Maybe take it in and have the springs re-arched so there is little or no gap and have the teflon pads put between the leaf ends. Front and rear end of leaves.
I agree, it's a nice looking truck. I would , personally, like less chrome, but thats a personal preference thing. Black chrome instead of shinny would make it more aggressive looking just in itself. Still all i n all i appreciate your candor
I drive a Ford because there is some things I like the way Ford does them. Nothing against anyone else. What is sad about ALL manufacturers is when you spend almost 6 figures for a vehicle and they have issues. For that price these things should have a little better quality control or something. It’s just sad.
In my opinion you have a beautiful looking GMC. I cannot afford a truck like that by any means. I have a 2011 Chevy silvarado with 104,000 thousand miles crew cab and I pay 55 dollars for registration. Like I said that truck is a beauty. Be blessed
I worked at a GMC dealer 1977-1982.GMC had the same rear spring noise deal back then.We used GM graphite dry slide. It was in a solvent suspension.would spray it between the springs.Worked well to stop noise.
Quality control across all industries seems to be lacking. It is up to the consumer to identify and dealers to resolve the issues. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.
My biggest concern isn’t about the manufacture (they all have quirks), it’s the price of these things. Either people are making a whole lot more then I believe or they are financing these things to the tune of $800-$1200 a month. That is just crazy if they are paying that much per month. Once you retire, reality sets in on how much money you squandered that right now would be nicer in the bank. Here is an old guys opinion and wisdom - SAVE! For the vast majority of us, you will never have enough when the day comes.
I 100% agree with your point about hating on a manufacturer just for the sake of the manufacturer. I have been a GM guy for a LONG time, but for me, the current generation of GM truck is disappointing, so I bought a Ford, because in THIS GENERATION it was a better fit for what I was looking for. If the manufacturers don't listen and adapt accordingly, they will be out of business! Thanks for the content and the reviews, enjoy your videos!
I cannot bring myself to buy anything other than Chevy/gmc. They are certainly not without their flaws though. Had lots of issues with my wife’s 2018 Acadia then traded it for a 2019 Tahoe. Had to have the infotainment replaced in the Tahoe and a few other minor issues like the suspension is starting to squeak with 30k miles on it. Still love it and over all great vehicle. My 2005 Chevy 2500 still rock solid...
Agreed. Brand bias is a real thing. But so are the issues buyers are dealing with on all brands. Having paid north of $70k for a freaking vehicle, there should NOT be all of these issues, especially the little stuff. Fit and finish matter, but the major manufacturers don't seem to believe this today. The seem to be in a rush to get these trucks out to market. As for the big stuff like delamination of lifters, tranny issues, infotainment issues, etc. these are going to happen, especially if it's on a new model redesign. But the percentage of people having these major issues is often over-exaggerated. Still sucks when it happens to you.
That's why I'm not brand loyal. In my opinion, you get the truck you need for the best price, irregardless of brand. They all have problems. ALL OF THEM. Nuff said.
Thank you for being so irrational and practical. I myself have been a GM guy my whole life but I realize as you have pointed in my life, that everyone is building good vehicle these days. I recently bought a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I have been delighted with it. But I did not expect so in the beginning. Cheers!
For me I am completely a GM guy wholeheartedly. I will not ever buy a Ford. Having said that some of us grew up with square bodies and small block chevys. You could literally swap motors and parts till your hearts content. So familiarity with a brand is what makes you biased. Jumping forward to today I drive 12 Duramax and it’s the same basic design they’ve used since obs chassis wise, I like that. GM gets a bad rap for IFS but solid axle trucks wander and have really bad bump steer and generally ride rougher than IFS. Be loyal to the brand you love but also be respectful to other brands. I can appreciate the simplicity of a Cummins or the looks of the Ford F250 with 35s with no lift. I say be loyal but respectful.
Enjoyed the video! Spot on regarding your assessment. I have not purchased a “vehicle” since 2009. I have not had a car payment since 2014. I did purchase a 2009 Kia Borrego V8 in late 2015 to tow a used Casita travel trailer I just purchased. The “Borg” (purchased for $11,750) has been an amazing tow vehicle for our camper. LOL, I had never heard of a Borrego until I started researching used mid-size SUVs. I purchased it with 83,000 miles. It currently has 152,000 miles. It will have close to 175,000 miles on it when I replace it. I plan to replace it at the end for 2024 with a pickup truck to tow our camper. I love researching trucks. It might be a mid-size truck or a 1/2 ton truck. And, I have absolutely no brand loyalty whatsoever. I will purchase a truck based on tow capacity, payload, reliability, safety, and overall capability and function as it applies to camping and towing 6,000 to 10,000 miles per year. Comfort is important. BTW, I think the GMC trucks are the best looking trucks; however, I find all the trucks acceptable in terms of appearance depending on color and trim.
Was a diehard GM guy, but early 2000s elecronic switchgear/instrument cluster failures really soured me. Had a couple Fords but didn't like the interiors. Currently have a 2014 RAM 1500 Laramie and just couldn't be happier. It just ticks all the boxes for me. I love the new ones, but I can't justify the cost. I applaud JD's open-minded approach, though. Brand loyalty is one thing, but blind allegiance is a foolish way of deciding how to spend $75k.
I am neutral when it comes to trucks, but I did look at the fuel mileage from all brands. The Ram from my personal research was the best with theb highest fuel economy with gas. Nice video, glad you were able to fix your issues
All manufacturers seem to have an issue on some models. I work for a large company as a sales rep. Our company vehicle a few years ago was a Ford Explorer. We had approx 270 explorers in our fleet. We had a 45% transmission failure rate within 60k miles. We then switched to Toyota Highlanders. My explorer never lost its transmission but the Toyota seats were bad. I previously swore off GM because of transmission issues, bad brake systems and even paint falling off. That last one was a square body short box with EFI 350. Today, I wish I had that one back. It would be worth more than what I paid for it new. I would get a new GM with the LZ0 because I think they have the best diesel 1/2 ton drivetrain out there. I had hopes for a new Tundra and with the new grille and other “issues” with them I will pass on it.
Picked up my GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Saturday (evening). My first GMC truck (previous few were Chevy). I switched more due to the Chevy dealership/salesman lack of communication. The salesman at the GMC dealership (a stone throw from the Chevy dealership) was the exact opposite. I ended up just adding the Technology package (no sunroof). Have the same step bars you show as well. Liking those too. Only oddity I've encountered so far is the wireless phone charger doesn't always charge my phone (Pixel 7 Pro). It will be charging it, then not, then if I lift the phone, and place it back again (making sure it's positioned properly, as it was before) it starts charging again. Some drives it does that for the duration. Other drives it charges pretty much for the entire time. Getting a bed cover installed Thursday (RetraxPro MX) so I won't be getting any MORE snow inside the bed. The ride quality compared with my last Silverado (2020 LTZ Z71) is noticeably better in the Denali. I'm enjoying the additional power from the 6.2L v8 (previous truck had the 5.3L). Plus it just sounds EPIC! As much as I LOVE a v8, I'd go with a diesel before I went electric. Even with the higher maintenance costs of diesel plus the DEF requirements and how that can impact your driving experience. Not to mention the higher fuel cost of diesel these days (over $5 last time I was at the pumps). Now that I've gone with a Denali, I can't see going to a lower trim level (or back to a Silverado). BTW, IF I hear any of the popping sounds from the rear end on my truck, I'll try the lube it fix you mentioned.
🤔 I hear a pop in the rear end of my new to me ‘21 GMC and it was in the service records I received but was not reproduced by the tech. I hear it when backing out of my drive way or just backing up.
Your Ford Advance Track problem. Sensors are integral to the bearings. Could be the wires for the sensors such as a crack in wire insulation that leaves the bearing.
As a truck fan overall, the domestic brands has the best comfort and gadgets without question!! However, the 5.7 V8 tundra with the 6 speed has never let me down 300k miles later. Beautiful Denali!!!
I'm 6'4" and for the most part the Chevy/GMC doesn't have the leg room in the cab for me. I'm getting use to the new look of them. for the most part the last time I sat in a Dodge/Ram it too didn't have the leg room. I currently have a 16' F250 4x4, 6.2L gas with about 44k on it, mainly to pull my camper. it was a daily driver for the first 36k miles. (gas cost!!) Now since being retired, really need to keep it! Don't have the money to replace it!! Your GMC looks really nice! looking forward to you review of the "little" diesel!! Neighbor has a 1500 Dodge with there small diesel, loves it!!
I'm not sure what RAM you've been sitting in, but I have both a 4th Gen and a 5th Gen and am 6'-5" with 37" inseam and there is great leg room! I can only think you were in a regular cab bench seat. Both of mine are crew cab, power buckets with power pedals.
75k is alot of cheddar......but thats the direction they are going, especially the higher trims. A few years ago, id say for a half ton, the f150 would be better. With the 21 redesign, the appearance and comfort is nice, but they are definitely screwing with long term reliability with the 5.0l, with the addition of cylinder deactivation. Auto start/stop was bad enough, but at least it can be turned off and/or disabled. In reality, all the brands have their strengths and weaknesses, and you have to think about what features are most important to you. Another factor to consider is length of ownership. If you only plan to own it for a few years and trade up for a new one, then any brand will likely work out. They all can have a possible lemon as well. My only gripe about ram is that they are now dodge/fiat/Peugeot. 2 outta 3 of those are terrible. Love the look and sound of the ram......but i wouldnt chance it.
Loooong story short. Bought a new 2010 f150 back then. Not only did the leaf springs make noise but the shackles holding them actually twisted slightly. Had them replaced twice. Same problem. Finally ford sent the truck out to be laser measured. Come to find out that the frame had a slight twist to it. Was able to do a exchange for a equal truck. Not saying that's your problem but that's one of the stranger ones that I have dealt with. Good luck.
Every truck has a few kinks to work out. Everyone has an opinion they look to a lot of channels to affirm they bought the right truck. If someone goes a different direction some like to attack. When we switched from Ram to ford we had subscribers that felt betrayed. Same thing when we switched from Ford to Chevrolet.
Your brand openness is refreshing. When I researched buying a truck most people told me “buy brand x” but couldn’t ever really explain why, other than “because brand y sucks”. Sorta like political parties these days!! Can you fix that next? 😊
When I went to replace my dependable 9 yr old Silverado I looked at Chevy and all they had on the lot was four colors in 4 cylinder engines. I ended up with a Ram 5.7 and hope it is a dependable as my Chevy was.
I have owned GMC trucks, Ford, Ram, Chevy and I can honestly say with no Bias that Fords have undoubtedly gave me the most trouble...that goes for my work trucks too. Issue after issue with multiple years and models. Last two trucks have been Rams and they've been Great trucks for me with just regular foreseen things needed etc.
Your introduction reminds me of why I won't buy anything brand new. I hear so many problems with all these new trucks. Plus I'm a simple guy, I like basic work truck models and just do my own upgrades over time
Man you said it about the brand bias, I’ve drove ford only since 88’ BUT I gave gmc a chance with the at4 3.0 lzo and I am very pleased, I will not hate on other brands anymore. However it’s extremely hard to try something new, lol
I just bought a 2022 4 cylinder sierra (new interior) i have mixed feelings about it. 1st, there's no 12v outlet in the entire truck, this is the dumbest thing i've ever seen. I'm using a dash cam and i have a 3 camera setup on my enclosed trailer, i can't plug the units because no 12v. 2nd, there's no sunglasses compartment on the ceiling!!! had to buy a good old sunvisor clip for those. The 3rd, and the most annoying, is the computer managing the trailer. I have a new enclosed trailer, it's only 6 months old and the damn truck is ALWAYS killing the braking circuit to the trailer. Even tho the brakes work fine! I cleaned the plug, cleaner the truck's plug, still, after a few stops, i get a message it deactivated the brakes. This is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Imagine you have 9-10 000lbs behind you on the highway, you need to make an emergency stop and sudenly the truck decides to kill the braking circuit because it feels like it. It's also telling me everytime i use the truck, that my trailer may be over gcvwr, wich is not, by a long shot (it's about 3500lbs to 5000lbs depending on the load). Pretty annoying. I like the little 4 cylinder tho. If you don't rush it, it never gets over 2500rpm, it has A LOT of torque and return good fuel economy. It sounds like shit tho but i don't care really much about that. I think that that "refreshed" model was really rushed out and a lot got wrong. Good thing is i rent it for only 36 months.
You’ll love the Ford. All the new trucks have the same issues, mostly with emissions, but the 22+ Ram seem to have a lot of problems so I think you’re in the right place.
The new HD ford's are nice. You are going to love it. The diesel is a monster and have had 0 issues. I had a 2020 f350 platinum, it was a awesome truck. Traded it because I wanted a tremor and let me tell you, the 2022 f350 tremor is unreal. It's my life long truck, I love it that much.
Grew up around diesel tractors/trucks....and I still don't understand the infatuation with diesel pickups. Of course, you trade vehicles often, but in the event that you keep this one...just remember that you have to pull the transmission to replace or even check the oil pump belt...that won't be cheap. Other than that, nice truck...I just don't care for the hassle and expense of operation of diesel in a pickup...or the smell of diesel. By the way, I don't really have a brand bias.
J.D. Thanks for the information as i used it to buy my F450 Platinum without the sun/moon roof as i also had issues with a prior one in my last F250. I realize this may not be what your channel is for but i am having several issues with my 2021 Keystone Montana and was looking for some advise as i am 100% sure i have a "Covid Camper" and Keystone refuses to be of any assistance with its issues. My apology if this is out of line with what your channel is about but thank you in advance for any input.
I agree that all the current pickups are generally very good. Claiming that "all [insert brand] trucks are crap" or similar is just silly considering how many [insert same brand] trucks are out there getting the job done day after day. I was once brand loyal regarding trucks; I bought my first one, a 2004 Silverado WT, after trying really hard to buy a Ford (a history in my family) but not finding one that had my desired feature set. It was a hard but valuable lesson to learn. And I took no shortage of mostly good-natured ribbing about it. Another point worth considering: It can be a good strategy to avoid buying the first or even second model of a new generation vehicle. When it's "all new," a lot of things are untested in the real world. For me, a middle year of a new generation is the one to get, allowing for a few years of having things fixed that weren't quite right at introduction, but not on the verge of being superseded. Plus, there's the economy of buying used, getting the vehicle when it's three or four years old so some other buyer has paid that massive three-model-years depreciation bill. Weighing the risk of previous owner issues and short remaining warranty, I bought a 2020 Canyon SLE (sixth year of 2nd gen, three model years old) in January 2023. I've only put 80 or so miles on it so far, but I'm loving it. The new third gen '23 middle-sized trucks are intriguing, but they won't be on my actual buying radar until the forth gen is on the horizon. Given I drive only about 7,000 miles per year, I don't need the latest or fanciest truck.
Excellent video. Even though I spent a long, blue collar career at Ford and after owning F-150's since '95, the last one I owned had me wanting to try a different brand, the last travel trailer we owned, although within spec for hitch weight and GVW seemed to push it to the max so in 2015 I bought an F-250. We now own our first 5th wheel (Reflection 31MB) and the RV dealer we dealt with first wanted to see what we would be towing it with which never happened before. I'm glad he did. We haven't had to do anything but routine maintenance on it and I feel lucky but I often wonder if the industry has gone to far with technology. There is a lot less that can go wrong on this truck than a new one. Ride is good. It's gas so mileage kind of sucks but overall it's been good. When the time comes I'll not be brand bias unless my Xplan gives me a great price.
Purchased our 03 F150 new and it’s been pretty trouble free. Just brakes and tires and a few O2 sensors. Also have 04 Dodge 2500 with the 5.9 L that’s been in the family since new and it’s been pretty good except some electrical issues. Both vehicles have knobs for dash controls which is excellent compared to todays push buttons or touch screens. Dodge has 240k miles and the Ford has 120k miles. The Dodge is for towing our boat and does not see winter while the Ford is our winter vehicle to keep the others rust free. Too many extras are added on todays vehicles that can cause failure.
I’m with you JD…I wish GMC came wit panoramic sunroof…12” infotainment display…but they were about 6 months to a year behind the ford and dodge when those systems came out…your almost better off purchasing the extended service contract nowadays with all the electronics etc. built into these trucks…iv never owned a diesel…but I feel the fuel economy doesn’t justify the .50-$1.00 more per gallon that diesel is…and generally diesels are more expensive to service…thank you for your videos and reviews…👍
I had 4 GMC Sierra crew cab 1998,2005,2013 and 2015. I love all my GMC trucks because smooth ride . I drove ford, dodge, toyota, chevrolet just came one I really joy that the GMC.
I will never buy a Chevy. Not because it had problems as any brand can. But rather how they stood behind their product. The one I had blew the injector sleeve. A known factory defect. For that model year the factory warranty was extended to 5 years or 200,000 miles for that specific problem. I had 92,000 miles so I thought I was good to go. Not so fast Chevy said according to the VIN the date of service was outside of the time period by 5 DAYS. Despite the fact it had been in the shop previously for a blown head gasket that was on national back order that took 6 weeks to get in.
JD, been follow ur channel for several years now. I am looking to purchase a chevy version of your Denali so keep up this content. I just saw a news article by one of the automotive mags say that Chevy had found a fix for the tranny shifting. Have you noticed any shifiting issue?
If I had to buy a brand new 1/2 truck, here are my choices: 1. Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 3.0L Diesel; 2. GMC Sierra 1500 with the 3.0L; 3 Ford F150 with the 3.5L TT; 4 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L; and 5 Nissan Titan; I would not consider the 3rd gen Tundra, and sadly to say I am a Toyota fan.
At one time I would only consider owning a Chevy. Two things changed my mind. Your vedios and truck reviews. And long story but I had to rent a three quarter ton truck twice to tow our camper about 1400 miles. Ford was all they had. One was gas and one was diesel. Loved them both. If I ever buy another truck it will be based upon what I need and not a brand
Beautiful truck. I was all set to get a 2023 Dodge Ram limited but Dodge got rid of the V8 without that stupid battery. I now am going to get the GMC Denali. My dilemma is do I get the V8 5.3 or the Duramax? I do not tow at all. My other dilemma is do I get 4x4 or 4x2 as I do not 4 wheel off road either but wonder if 4x4 is better to get just in case. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
I’ve had the same question about 4x4, or 4x2 because even though I live in Minnesota I rarely use 4x4. Mainly if it snows, but then only for a short bit. Manufacturers are making the decision for most of us soon, with most going to 4x4 only, which doesn’t make sense for many that live in the south, if they never are off the highway.
The only thing I can say I’ve seen that is consistently a problem on the 19+ 1/2 ton trucks is the alignment. We see about 4-10 of these trucks a day where I work and about 8 out of 10 of them I’m recommending an alignment. Maybe 23+ fixed the problem? Seems like GM doesn’t exactly get these straight from the factory either. I know a lot of people swap the locking cams in place of the factory alignment cams as well. I’d just keep an eye on it. It always seems like it cuts the inside of the tire every time it’s a problem
Ya know, my personal truck is a GMC, my work truck is a Ford 450. They both have quirks. The 450 has a weird squeek that I have to hit a good bump to get it to stop. Like you said they all have issues. Is what it is.
Went from a 2021 Ford F-150 Platinum to a 2023 Sierra 3.0 diesel and I’m 100% happy. This truck continues to amaze me in its fuel efficiency. So much happier with the GMC than my Ford.
Great! I hope you don't live in a rust belt state though.
@@townhall05446 if you wash and maintain your vehicle, you won't have an issue nearly as often or as quickly as people who neglect their vehicles in the winter and let the salt eat away at it.
The prices of new trucks there should be ZERO problems with any of them.
3:24 in notice the back tires look tiny on that huge truck. Some larger tires would increase gas mileage and lower RPM. Nice looking truck
Just picked my 22 f150 last week, I had my 2008 f150 for 15yrs and never had a problem with. Knock on wood my 22 is just as reliable!
*break
Sun roofs are ALWAYS a problem waiting to happen. I have always tried to avoid them
I’ve never had a problem with a sunroof on the Toyota
My 2020 Ford 350 tremor 7.3 has been great. Sunroof tilt function didn’t work and a recall for wiper arms. Love the truck!
No death wobble yet?
Running boards can be cured with the hide away power boards.
My 2020 2500hd diesel has been error free. Not one issue
Thank you for sharing! I have been very fortunate and have had absolutely no issues with any Ford or General motors SUV or Truck since 2010.
Guess we've been lucky. Our Toyota's arw right at 20 yrs old and have never had a breakdown. Still original starters, alternators, u-joints, exhaust systems.......
Been highly reliable with 250k plus miles. Our Honda's and Acura's have been superb also.
We bought a RAM after test driving a GMC Denali like that. NO regrets! Never looked back. We LOVE our truck!
I was all set to get 2023 Ram but they got rid of the V8 and kept the V8 with that stupid etorque battery crud !
@@donmckenzie5027
It’s not a full on hybrid system, it just uses a generator in place of the alternator and uses a small battery in the rear. It isn’t plug in. Gives you extra torque from a stop. Only thing that sucks is the auto start stop but you can turn that off. If you hate that, you’re going to really hate it when they completely kill off the hemi after 2023.
@@donmckenzie5027 I'd never buy a Ram. In the lemoniad book they are the worst in ratings. So hard PASS for me.
@@donmckenzie5027
Fair enough, I got my Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman with the regular hemi so I understand wanting to keep it simple.
I have a 2021 Ford F 250, STX is a working truck…love it.
I’ve had a lm2 and LZ0. My lm2 I could hear and smell regen..I have not experienced either on my lz0 as of yet …
A friend of mine had 6 Denalis within 18 months with tons of problems. His current one is working just fine
Bicycle tubes between the leafs. Every GM truck I’ve owned has done this. Cut some chunks and slip it between. Last years.
I think the new Denali is gorgeous. But beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
A shame to have to do things like that (either of them) to a brand new vehicle.
I agree, it's a nice looking truck. I would , personally, like less chrome, but thats a personal preference thing. Black chrome instead of shinny would make it more aggressive looking just in itself. Still all i n all i appreciate your candor
The GMC's are nice trucks. If my trailer wasn't so big I would have bought the same truck.
Great video 📹 Your making me re think 🤔 my bias 😁 good job 👏
Thank you and well said !
Why do trucks have a ‘sun roof’ anyway ;)
I bought a 2020 Ram Crewcab 4X4 new. I’ve owned Fords, Chevrolet and GMC Siera Denali. I can honestly say my Ram is the best of the bunch.
I agree, good perspective.
Great vid JD and enjoy your truck.. I'll be having a 1 year review coming up in a couple weeks on my 22 Ram Limited 🐏 👌
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Great video! I hangmen a 21 tundra crewmax. Zero problems. However, if I need a bigger truck it will be a GMC.
GMC had to replace my rear leaf springs at 800 miles. It's a known issue via a bulletin. Mine is a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with the Z3 suspension.
Had ford, ram, nissan trucks. Now i have gmc.
That truck looks great
75k is alot of cheddar......but thats the direction they are going, especially the higher trims.
May you can try this:
SLIP Plate® No. 1 spray.
I use it on my semi truck for lubricate.
Good luck.
I’ve always been a Ford guy but a GM with this mini duramax might be my next truck as it has impressive specs.
Both political parties suck ass. One lies, the other one swears to it.
As far as the GMC’s looks. I like it. Definitely the best looking GMC on record. If looks really mattered, I’d buy one.
Your spot on.
Been a Ram guy all my life. Just ordered a new F250 so wish me luck
Not being hateful, but I think you’ll wish you stuck with Ram. I had an F250 SD and constant issues including motor and transmission
I really hate the trend toward enormous front ends/grilles. I can't imagine that helps aerodynamics either but what do I know.
You nailed it on this video !! well done JD ! all truck have issues!
I have a 2020 GMC sle 37400 miles no problems.
Love my 2022 Ranger! Have a 30ft 6500 pound tow trailer and don’t have any issues!
I love the running boards on my Sierra All Terrain.... because I'm an adult.
My shifting has been extremely smooth
Nice truck. Thanks for the info.
I drive a 1999 GMC Suburban. What are '110 outlets?' LOL I wouldn't miss them.
Another weird thing was it did it when it was cold but not in the spring/summer/fall
Very good bro 👌💪
Best looking truck period!
