Thanks everyone for 300k! Only took me... 4 weeks to upload this since my last video lol, was travelling and got a bit burnt out but I'm back now (for better or for worse).
Any of you remember the iPod loop, and did anyone actually use it? Curious here, don't think I ever saw one in public

I think the loop failed because as soon as someone bought an iPod 5, they immediately shoved it in an otter box since the iPod was so flimsy dropping it on a couch cushion was enough to shatter the thing into over a thousand fragments. Apple really didn’t build them well.

I was quite confused when I saw it what that silver circle is used for. Nobody ever used one in my surrounding. And while iPod Touch was basically stripped down iPhone , it was still expensive to let it dangle from your wrist and get scuffed , beaten and glass broken , especially since new screen wasn't (and still isn't) cheap part to replace.

  • @friedcatfood

I absolutely loved the loop! I used it all the time, so much I actually broke the one included so I had to buy a new one. Maybe it's because I've always been paranoid about losing my stuff but I've always held my phone (iPod at that time) in my hand because I always had that tactile and visual reminder that it's still with me, so the loop was actually pretty useful to be able to hold stuff with both hands while also having the iPod in sight. I actually miss the feature, a lot now that I'm reminded of it.

I bought the 5th generation iPod Touch 64GB silver in 2013 and I absolutely LOVED it. It was so far beyond the 4th generation in terms of design and especially display quality. I jailbroke it and got SO much use out of it from tons of old school console and arcade video game emulators with a Wiimote controller, to free calling/texting, a cool voice control music app called Vokul that I used while driving, videos, etcetera. I used it for years until the battery was completely shot and it finally died on me last year without a scratch on it. It was an amazing device and my most prized electronic gadget.

Right on bro. My friend did the same exact thing he tried to convince me at the time to jailbreak mines. (Mines was the product red edition, His was the black ipod 5). But i never wanted to lose my warranty i took real care of it until one day it just stopped working right after ios 7, it lagged a lot and the battery would die out really fast. Good times and it brings back so much memories of my freshman and sophomore yesr of highschool until i purchased the iphone 6

Only one third party vendor made a case that was iPod loop compatible. Wish the loop made its was to the iPhone line. I had a few loops for my iPod touch but only ever used the red one. whenever I buy a new phone case one of the first things I do is drill 2 small holes in it on the side. That lets me get a cheap wrist strap in and attach it to the case. I can't understate how nice it is knowing the strap is there to keep my phone from falling out of my hand.

This exact iPod was the first electronic Product I bought myself with my own money. I first thought the loop was pretty practical, especially since I actually used my iPod as my main camera, since my phones camera was much worse. After I searched for my first backcover I discovered there were no cases with space for the loop open, so I ditched the loop since then. That was definitely the main reason why people didn't care about it since no case supported it and cases are just a more reasonable kind of drop protection than the loop lol

Also I’d find it really convenient to keep the loop on when having my phone in my pockets and just pull it out with the loop without worrying about it falling off. I actually went after the basic 16gb touch 5 without camera a couple years ago and got one because ever since it came out I was hooked by its super clean design without the loop hook, black Apple iPod logos and buttons, and mostly because it was the only device you could get at the time with the shiny silver chamfered edges from white devices with a black screen. It looks super clean and different - even though this black and silver combo has become more commonplace now as Apple stopped making devices with white screens for quite a while now. But yeah, I remember seeing this iPod quite often in high school, and I never ever saw anyone of them with its loop attached. It’s sad because it was cool and possibly an invitation from Apple for people to ditch cases. I got mine on an iPod 6 case. The hole for the nonexistent camera sadly is there but at least the loop hole isn’t. It’s handy as a focused music player you can use without being bothered by other apps, I love mine and put it to good use, only problem is you can’t keep almost anything downloaded with 16gb.

Wireless headphones are an environmental crisis. But they cost more so Apple ignores the environmental issues. They're the king of greenwashing.

The iPod 4th generation and 3rd generation were never a failure but the fifth gen was. The 4th gen was the best iPod touch ever. Small yes but it was An amazing device. I had 2 and they were basically an iPhone but I didn’t need the phone. Stuff

it’s funny because most phone cases have two little holes that can support a wrist strap. At least, I use it for that purpose. Put a Wii strap on there, never dropped my phone 🤞🏼

Back in the day, in my adolescent ignorance, I read 1 infinite loop on the package. So, I assumed it came with an infinite loop, and proceeded to call this product the infinite loop.

Got my iPod 5 at the age of 10. I was a dumb kid and thought the loop ran up into the device and was pulled out and used like that.

To this day I still don't understand the purpose of the loop. What extra security are you really gonna need? The iPod is so small, it's not like it's gonna slip out of your hands or anything.

Ahhh you don't have big, clumsy hands and it shows. I'd love for my current, small Zenfone to have a loop system like that so that I don't drop it all the time
