Probably one of the more inconsistent Batman villains considering how different each iteration is. It's strange how despite being mostly forgotten and underrated they still managed to appear in all three of the major Batman shows which is more than what I can save for Mad Monk

If I was to write for them, I’d probably imagine them as high-ranking members of Black Mask’s gang, the False Face Society. Shark can be an enforcer at the Gotham docks; Fox can be a protector of Black Mask’s streets; Vulture…idk what to do with him. I guess you could argue that making them so closely associated with Black Mask ruins them, but they never had strong motivations in the first place.

I just personally always loved the image of the trio standing together as they watched a deathtrap ensnare batman as they worked to destroy him, and that gave me the image of them being equals no one being the 'leader' and with all three being criminal masterminds whose combined talents would bring batman to his limits. I love the idea of them alternating their crimes between land, sea and air. Personally, unlike so many, I don't like the idea of making turn into anthros or become phsyical powerhouses heavily based aroudn their mask. the fact they just HAD the masks and nothing else and were just schemers in suits works better to make them unique in my mind, and these attempts to make them edgier and badass just take away what makes them unique in favour of more tough bruiser types. a problem I have with at least the TAS and The Batman versions is they both take away the 'trio' image by making one of the members the leader or at least the more 'dangerous' one, turning the other two into mere lackeys rather than equal threats. The TAS version especially suffers, as it put all the focus on Fox and relegated Shark to being the mucle and vulture to a coward, FOx got the majority of the screentime.

I agree. They should be more like a common collective rather than have any semblance of order in them, and they could be interesting to serve as common crooks who just follow Batman and his friends and foes around kind of like a more well-rounded original Team Rocket. There's just so much potential in this original concept alone, and it would be radically different from how most comic book characters feel because most of the comic book characters don't usually have this sense of a permanent relationship. Characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, Batman and Superman, and more just kind of feel like they just kind of get into fights a lot and there's not usually a lot of screen time or concepts delving away from the characters psychology and rather delving into their sociology, from what I've seen being commonly fascinated with by most comic book fans. This Terrible Trio could be the first to permanently break this mold and give us a permanent, unbreakable, devoted trio that can stand up to the most trying of social tests and not be broken up.
I, too, love their appearance on Batman: TAS. Love when Fox says... I'll get justice! The best money can buy! Then you see him walking into his prison cell with a sad look on his face... Then it changes to fear when he meets his big, tough cellmate!

They recently appeared in a Batgirl comic! And a new version of the trio appeared a few years ago in the Gotham Academy: Second Semester comic book series
Good catch, I was actually coming back to this video after finally reading their 2019/2020 Batgirl storyline. Best *Terrible Trio* ever IMHO! I'm not a huge Batgirl fanboy, but she's got some great rogues, and the Trio was done extremely well in her solo title. Their first appearance in the 3-issues mini-arc, simply called *"Terrible"* (issue 34 to 36), might just be my favorite part of their Batgirl appearances. I highly recommend these 3 issues from last year if anyone who's watched this video wants to read a top notch modern take on them.
I think evil villain that has a theme should have gadgets/abilities based off of them. With this said, the animal hybrid depictions are a good idea. But I prefer them to be businessmen, who use advanced gadgetry in their masks/hands to give themselves the attributes of their respective animals (retractible claws & super senses for Fox--who should be the most agile & cunning; flight wings & bladed feathers for Vulture--who should be the best knife-fighter/thrower &marksman; & powerful jaws/scuba gear for Shark--who should be large & strong like Ubu). Of course each should have martial arts skills, so they can fight the Bat-Family fist-to-fist.
Remember first seeing these guys as a kid (YEARS AGO LOL) in an old Batman reprint. Thought them so FREAKING weird, so bizarre, liked them instantly. Wondered why they weren't used more. Even as a kid, saw the potential.
I find The Batman versions of the Terrible Trio the most intriguing versions of the characters or at least their gimmicks. I think they'd be a lot more interesting if they had the ability to transform into mutant hybrids of the animals they represent. They'd definitely be bigger threats if anything. But TAS versions are also very cool in a character perspective.

I like the idea of them being weapons smuggler for gangs in New York City that travels by land (Fox), air (vulture), and by sea (Shark). Have them be a trio of a heist group ala GTA5 who use helicopters, cars, and mini submarine technology to pull off their heists.

That said I feel The Batman version are the best since they tie into the universe better by using the manbat serum to gain there forms, and they got better reasons for being antagonistic them just being bored or corrupt rich guys.
I like how the video starts with their cameo in the Killing Joke where the narrator lampshades their obscurity by admitting that he keeps forgetting their names after big names like Two-face and Poison.
The Terrible Trio are interesting villains, The Fox, Vulture and Shark. I like the Shark guy more to be quite honest. In my opinion, this organization of crime is not really as good as other teams, but it's just three guess wearing business suits with animal heads that are up to noble schemes in the dark knight's path. I even like the medias the have, I might to do an evolution of them next week after my track practice. Once again, I think the Terrible Trio are interesting villains, and in my opinion they're not really forgotten villains, but underrated, like villains such as Maxie Zeus or Ratcather. I love these villains, they're like the anti-batmen if you think about it, using gadgets and wearing animal themed costumes, but my favorite adaptation is the "Batman: TAS" one.
Can we take a moment and ponder just HOW badly-drawn the original Vulture and Shark's masks are? The Vulture looks like he has a tumor above his beak, and the shark looks like a Xenomorph crocodile.
Another Terrible Trio turned up in Gotham Academy. This was a separate trio from the Batman rogues. So there were two trios in Gotham. Some thugs wear those masks in Batman: City of Madness which came out last month. It's Black Label so it may or may not be in continuity.

DC Retroactive was so much fun. It was a lot like Convergence since it was a salute to old styles of DC comics. Though the 70's Batman one is weird since Duke Fox is a villain wearing a techno suit since he's now the heroic hi-tech Baatwing.
Recently they’re in the dc rebirth batgirl comics, apparently in the story that they appeared in, a three parter, they with the help of Lex Luthor, is able to turn the oracle computer program into a villainous cyborg.
If they ever got a live-action film treatment the style for each of their masks would be reminiscent of plague doctor masks, only not bird shaped (save for Vulture).
One thing thats bugged me for a long time is they called themselves the predators of land air and sea, but vultures are not predators, their scavengers. You want a real predator of the air, it should of been a hawk, falcon or an eagle.
Finally I get the origins from these shows. I love the brave and bold episode. The Batman version is good because it is aimed at 12 under so it does a nice job.

I've never been a fan of the Terrible Trio from TAS, simply because it felt like a severe missed opportunity to pull off another Victor Fries or Jervis Tetch, where not only do the characters transcend their comic counterparts, but also become the version people think about when their names are brought up among both comic fans and those who stick to the adaptions. Hell, even Bruce Timm himself has said that "The Terrible Trio" was the worst episode throughout the entire DCAU, which, while I personally disagree with it being the absolute worst, says a lot about the quality of that version of the Trio. That being said, I love the versions from both The Batman and BTBATB, though for very different reasons. The take from The Batman gives them a genuine history and motive other than "Eh, being rich is boring. Let's be super-villains!", and a reason for Batman specifically to take them on, rather than one of the other dozen or so vigilantes in Gotham (He's taking responsibility for the mess that one of his rogues - Man-Bat - had a hand in creating), while The Brave and The Bold's more mystical take on their origin is unique and unexpected for a trio of Bat-Rogues, and was taken relatively seriously when compared to a lot of the obscure Bat-Rogues used in that series (Bat-Mite mocking Ten-Eyed Man being arguably the biggest offender here), which is a plus. Despite all that, I do like the overall concept of the second rendition of the comic version of the characters; three individuals who use armoured suits to take on the Bat, not to mention including Tim Fox into their group, which adds a somewhat personal touch throughout their battle. It's interesting and fun.
Danny Buckle the problem with the batman version is that it's also a widely hated episode in the series and is often listed as the worst episode of that series as well.
It didn't help that in BTAS they tried to say the Trio were more evil than Joker by having Batman say "Criminals like this are worse than The Joker. At least he has madness as an excuse. And yeah there are far worse BTAS episodes than The Terrible Trio like I've Got Batman In My Basement, POV, Prophecy of Doom and a couple of others.
That is a pretty stupid comment by Bruce Timm. I guess he forgot about that abomination, the episode with the Sewer King riding alligators in the sewers. The Terrible Trio wad a good episode. Timm is really stupid for dissing it so hard.
How are they forgotten if they've appeared in TAS, The Batman (2004) AND The Brave and the Bold? That's more show appearances than the Mad Hatter. And the Brave and the Bold version is the Imposter not the real one so that doesn't even count.

The Terrible Trio B:TAS series episode was considered by one of the creators to be the worst episode of the entire DCAU. And I have to agree. The BaB incarnation IMHO is the best since it uses the TAS origin, but keeps them competent villains rather than just spoiled idiots.

The Terrible Trio were very well done on Batman The Animated Series. The original silver age romps sound like forgettable fun. All the other versions you discussed sound awful. As usual, the comic book writers get too dark and twisted that they lose the fun factor. Satanic rituals and all that crap, or having then turn into actual animal human hybrids....DUMB! I will stick with the versions from TAS.

Let's be super-villains!", and a reason for Batman specifically to take them on, rather than one of the other dozen or so vigilantes in Gotham (He's taking responsibility for the mess that one of his rogues - Man-Bat - had a hand in creating), while The Brave and The Bold's more mystical take on their origin is unique and unexpected for a trio of Bat-Rogues, and was taken relatively seriously when compared to a lot of the obscure Bat-Rogues used in that series (Bat-Mite mocking Ten-Eyed Man being arguably the biggest offender here), which is a plus.
Despite all that, I do like the overall concept of the second rendition of the comic version of the characters; three individuals who use armoured suits to take on the Bat, not to mention including Tim Fox into their group, which adds a somewhat personal touch throughout their battle. It's interesting and fun.
Danny Buckle the problem with the batman version is that it's also a widely hated episode in the series and is often listed as the worst episode of that series as well.
It didn't help that in BTAS they tried to say the Trio were more evil than Joker by having Batman say "Criminals like this are worse than The Joker. At least he has madness as an excuse. And yeah there are far worse BTAS episodes than The Terrible Trio like I've Got Batman In My Basement, POV, Prophecy of Doom and a couple of others.
That is a pretty stupid comment by Bruce Timm. I guess he forgot about that abomination, the episode with the Sewer King riding alligators in the sewers. The Terrible Trio wad a good episode. Timm is really stupid for dissing it so hard.

How are they forgotten if they've appeared in TAS, The Batman (2004) AND The Brave and the Bold? That's more show appearances than the Mad Hatter. And the Brave and the Bold version is the Imposter not the real one so that doesn't even count.

Don't question my logic!! Haha nah jk.. Yeah admittedly they aren't as forgotten as some of these other guys, but still, they're kinda obscure and have made very few appearances in the comics, so I figured that was good enough to qualify.

They were decently translated in Batman: TAS (1994) and Batman: The Brave & the Bold. No so much in The Batman (2004)

The Terrible Trio B:TAS series episode was considered by one of the creators to be the worst episode of the entire DCAU. And I have to agree. The BaB incarnation IMHO is the best since it uses the TAS origin, but keeps them competent villains rather than just spoiled idiots.

The Terrible Trio were very well done on Batman The Animated Series. The original silver age romps sound like forgettable fun. All the other versions you discussed sound awful. As usual, the comic book writers get too dark and twisted that they lose the fun factor. Satanic rituals and all that crap, or having then turn into actual animal human hybrids....DUMB! I will stick with the versions from TAS.
