Like I said the last time, there was a 'character' to older sculpts that almost no company can really re-capture now with the exception of NECA and Storm Collectibles Not to say Jada's bad, but there's definitely aspects about them that are a result of the current toy industry, for better or worse
What’s up @Sprocketman! I know exactly what you mean. I sometimes see it in head sculpts here and there but they can’t carry it through in the entire sculpt or figure. As you said, NECA does give their figures a certain character, a certain depth. And Storm is just another class of figure. They certainly add their own depth throughout. Two companies at the top of their game for a reason. Yeah JADA is good, but the figures are a little soft in some areas and don’t carry the same depth throughout. Some of it may be due to the current circumstances but I’m sure they can improve around it. 🍻
@@sacrificedplastic Yeah, I'm not about to dismiss them outright, they're doing solid work and I can clearly see the passion they have, it's more observations of the industry in general: honestly, even Figuarts sculpting isn't what it used to be...
For sure. The composition of everything has changed. Hopefully they read these comments and apply what you and I are bringing to the figures because they could definitely improve in those areas. Yeah, I can see that a bit with SHF. They’ve probably been the most consistent company for a really long time. You into their Dragon Ball figures or something else?
Yeah. Absolutely. I don’t blame you. It holds up extremely well after all these years and I like the size better than Jada’s. As @sprocketman said in these comments somewhere, it just has a certain character to it that is not really found in modern figures 🫡🍻
A find that a lot of Sota figures have become a mess with age, extremely stuck joints, brittle plastic, and the soft rubbery plastic has started to devulcanize into a goopy mess. I have a Sakura that was new in the air tight clamshell box that’s melting.
Yeah, for sure, some of them didn’t hold up too well. And some of them don’t do well in warm places. The ones I have on display for the most part still look great and have held up well. I avoid touching some of them when the room is warm because on the more rubbery parts the paint can rub off. I also avoid articulating them because they get really loose at certain articulation points. But once I leave them in a pose, they pretty much just stay in that pose. 🫡👊🤙🍻

I like my sota bison more than my jada bison. The sota bison is a beast.

The last wave of the Sota Street Fighters (The one with Dhalsim) were super fragile.
Yeah. It’s really unfortunate because they were some of the long awaited and more desirable characters, like E.Honda and Zangief.
