Earth Shaking USAF B-1 Bombers first mission from RAF Fairford UK SPICY21 flight 30th May 2023

- B-1s Deploy to Europe for NATO Deterrence, Immediately Met by Russian Fighter!
Two B-1B Lancers “were operating in international airspace in the Baltic Sea region alongside NATO allies and partners during their theater arrival” when the U.S. bombers had an “unplanned interaction with foreign fighter aircraft,” a spokesperson for U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) told Air & Space Forces Magazine.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said an Su-27 Flanker was dispatched to monitor the American bombers. A spokesperson for U.S. European Command (EUCOM) said the B-1s “were interacted with safely and professionally by Russian aircraft.”

I literally had someone ask me why they can't put mufflers on those engines to make them quieter. We don't talk any more.

I was at the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB yesterday. They have a B-1B outside at the entrance. You can get up close and personal with it. She's a sleek sexy girl!
I got the chance to check out the cockpit of a B-1B while I was stationed at Kunsan AB, ROK in 1998. As I was climbing up the ladder, one of the pilots said, "don't touch anything yellow". When I got my head and shoulders into the cockpit, I was amazed at the numerous panels filled with knobs, buttons, switches, levers, etc...must have been hundreds of 'em...and they were ALL yellow...lol.

Proud to say that I reside in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA...and have the privilege of watching these fine birds in action regularly. Ellsworth Air Force Base is home to the 28th Bomb Wing and the B-1 Lancer. The base is gearing up to be the new home to the B-21 Raider as well.

2 x B-1B from Anderson Air Force Base came to India for Aero India’23 (Asia’s largest Airshow). They performed a fly past at about a thousand feet. While passing over me they lit their burners right in the face of the crowd. Couldn’t hear anything for a while. My ears were ringing for a solid minute. I couldn’t believe a planes engine could make my ears ring like that.
They do live a lasting impression 👌
Saw two B1s flying low over Swindon this evening - wings extended, probably at about 1,000 feet.

I worked at a co called RicMar Eng. in the mid eighties and made various parts on a cnc for the retractable wings on the B-1. I can imagine that they've all been replaced a couple of times by now.

Saw a pair of these leaving Ellsworth AFB back in 2019, watching from the museum grounds. They did full afterburner takeoffs. Incredible sound that I had never heard before or heard since. ❤ So happy to see these in Finland 🇫🇮 now! 😎

@@user-ut6xu2iq6y I use an IPad, so it does do autocorrection if necessary, but if I type in Fairford it underscores it with a red dotted line (meaning the word is not in the dictionary), but it does no autocorrection.
This plane is really impressive, I had the chance to visit the cockpit twice at the Bagotville base.

We are blessed to live near Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX and have these magnificent birds fly right over our house. I geek out watching them…the louder, the better.

Had the privilege to see these incredible bombers at the Fort Lauderdale air show a few years back, on the beach. The sand literally trembled when these planes flew by!
Yes I had to make an effort to come and see her again 👌 and I very nearly came to fort Lauderdale this year but it didn't happen 😔

I love these, one of the sickest looking planes ever made. You have to give it to the engineers that designed it to eliminate the blue note (which i love) while under full thrust.
The B1-B is truly magnificent aircraft and that payload nothing like it.
Sadly does not carry nukes!
Had one fly over in warrior week(basic training) during the obstacle course in 1999. Immediately knew I joined the right branch of the US military.

These B-1s are from Dyess AFB,Texas. Went to the open house there this year. We see them come over now and then.
People from Abilene don't care for them much because of the noise...... I'd happily swap places with them.

@@ElwynR I live a hour and a half from Abilene Tx where they’re at and they usually fly over a lot and man even that’s loud lol they’re not even in burner but usually 2 of them.

They are a bit loud, I was camping when they departed in the opposite direction and it woke me up, the campsite was about 12 miles away 😂

The stills were taken with a nikon d850 hence the video not quiet up to the usual standard

Also…they don’t have ailerons like typical aircraft….they combine flaps with ailerons, making them “flaperons”…very efficient and highly maneuverable. The roll rate is very impressive!
They went out on a mission, they came back from the mission…who did they bomb? Or were they just missionaries?

Being that it’s military….you probably can’t. Most likely a lot of sitting, waiting and hoping.

The BONE is deceptively massive. Until you stand next to (or see a person standing right next to) the landing gear, it's nigh impossible to get a sense of scale.
Imagine one of these landing after dropping some atomic bombs. The shame would be too much.
Mufflers on these particular engines would cause performance issues, good suggestion though.
