    Loving this series of Northern Portugal. Good job, guys. Now you have to find a local chap or two so they can take you to a mountain village tavern/restaurant that only Portuguese go to, where the chef is the old momma of the house who knows her stuff and no tourist has ever ventured to. A place that looks like a dive. A hole. If places like this still exist in Minho, this is where you will eat and drink like Asterix & Obelix :) I say this because my 4 cousins took me and my brother to such a place years ago and I'll never forget how amazing the food was, how nice the locals were, and how cheap it was. They closed the tavern just to serve the 6 of us! Do these types of places still exist in Minho?

    Amadeu Souza Cardoso died very young after taking care of his wife, sick with the Spanish flu... so he was a very loving husband... do you hear Joen?
    His wife ( I think she was French) was so in love with him she never married again. After she died they found a lot of his work in her apartment. She was so in love with him she kept his art near her...❤️

    • @joenandamalie
      @joenandamalie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @cmarq817
      @cmarq817 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      STAY CLASSY VLOG yup! It’s one of the reasons he was a bit forgotten by the art world after his death. His wife kept his art always with her and so there was no exhibitions and other actions to give visibility to his name. The success he has in the beginning fell flat. Modigliani loved and respected him and they were best friends ...

    The food across Portugal changes a lot. In the north they eat a lot of meat and the food is heavier, and then in algarve for exemple, there is a big variety of fish dishes. There is also Alentejo that has a lot of meat and characteristic dishes. So there isn´t "real food", it just depends on the region of the country

    So... you're exploring GEMS in the north of Portugal... Why don't you do 'Passadiços do Paiva'? Why don't you try 'vitela arouquesa' in Alvarenga? And take a tour in the great 'Convento de Arouca'? And take some pictures next to the 'frecha da Mizarela'? And about the sweets... just try 'castanhas doces' or 'barrigas de freira' . Have fun ;)
