- We are in love with this show! 🤩
Everything is so cool, Toranaga is just amazing, we love how he's always 5 steps ahead of everyone else, how does he do it? 😱
This episode was so intense, Mariko lost her husband 😓 John almost died a few times, he's learning a lot and they are starting to bond a little, we are so excited! 😄
We hope you enjoy the reaction and have a nice day, thank you for watching! Love you! 💝

Toranaga understands the saying, "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
True!! He's such an amazing tactician.
This year's Emmy Award nominations were just announced today (July 17, 2024)...and Shogun lead all shows with TWENTY-FIVE total nominations including for best drama series and best actress (Anna Sawai as Mariko) and best actor (Hiroyuki Sanada as Toranaga) in a drama series. The actors who play Yabushige and Ishido were also nominated and, you'll be happy to hear, Nestor Carbonelle was nominated for "best guest actor" for his role as Rodrigues. The show also earned nominations for production design, original dramatic score, stunt performance, sound editing, casting, cinematography, costume design and directing.
(By the way, the 1980 television mini-series version earned 12 Emmy Award nominations.)
Ohh that's exciting news! We're glad Néstor got the recognition he deserves, as well as the whole production. Let's hope they win some of those, they totally deserve them.
Yabushige has contacts with the Society of the Amida. When Lord Kiyama hired the shinobi (assassin) to kill Anjin, he probably went through Yabushige. Toranaga knows this. That's why he was interrogating Yabushige.
Ohh interesting! Yabushige sounds like an awesome allie, but a bit too two faced to our liking for now.
It was common for Samurai to train their daughters how to fight with bow & spear & glaive, so that they could defend the home when the men were away.
Cool! That's so smart
1:26 - Speaking of calligraphy...in an interview I saw Anna Sawai, who plays Mariko, say that not only did she have to learn Japanese calligraphy for the show but she had to learn to mimic the calligraphy style of Akechi Tama, the real-life person that her character is based on. (I guess because there are so many people out there who would notice the difference if they got it wrong??)
Oh wow!! She must have had a very recognizable handwriting! It's so cool that she was able to replicate it.
Buntaro is definitely an awesome character
Totally! He's a beast.
26:09 "Hatamoto... whichever means?". Hatamoto translates to Flag Man or Defender of the Banner. It is a high ranking samurai in the service of a feudal lord.
Ohh interesting! We only got that it was important, but we were clueless about the meaning. Thanks!
The story grows and the acting develops ... yourselves are as beautiful as your comments are insightful. You may enjoy the anime Blue Eyed Samurai ;-)
Thank you for your kind comment and the recommendation! ❤️
Next episode is Next episode 😊 today we watch this 😊
Lol that was hilarious 😂
Oda Nobunga, the Taiko and Tokgugawa all tried to elimnate ths Siniboi because they were independant, with no loyalty to a feudal lord. Tokgugawa decimated thier ranks enough that they became a non-factor.
Ohh ok, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it 💖
I missed today's video with you guys sorry.
Don't worry, you don't have to be on every premiere. We know you're supporting anyways 😁
Toranaga can't be emperor. The imperial family is separate to all this, kind of hovering above it all as divine beings.
Ohh so more powerful than all of them! Omg that's crazy. We wonder if they are going to do anything about all the political issues they are facing or if it's not important enough for them to act on.
@@NerdishReact The imperial family was traditionally neutral and did not become involved in politics.
