Qrow-dad also works in that it adds more conflict between Yang and her family.
She'll feel extra resentful towards her father and sister because Taiyang is caring more for a kid who's not even his than his own flesh and blood daughter. This fact only deepens Yang's own insecurities and can be one more reason to her fighting Ruby.
After the battle with Yang, the revelation of Qrow Dad and Yang's ruthlessness will lead to Ruby trusting none of her family members. This would be a huge turning point of her character and might force her to seek comfort from her friends instead of family.
Honestly this is probably the best reason for Qrowdad in alt. there’s the color theory which is how Qrow and Summer’s color schemes create Ruby’s, however this went out the window the second that you remember Rwby former has no concept of sensible character redesign. Also how tf have they not used Qrowdad in former? It’s like the one thing that I was wondering when they were gonna use it. Then I dropped the show for other stuff harder than Taiyang did own daughter in alt

I have an idea concerning the bad luck aspect of Qrow's character.
What if his misfortune wasn't magical in nature, but was purely psychological?
In attempt to shirk responsibility of his own failings and provide justification for his terrible upbringing, he *believes* that he's cursed by bad luck, and as such is highly superstitious and obsessed with good luck charms and the like. He gambles constantly in an attempt to challenge luck, which of course results in him losing money, but rather than learning from it (ie, his poker face sucks) he blames bad luck and tries even harder to curry good fortune.
Okay hear me out: the few times he does something really good and it's purely be chance/luck BUT HE DOESN'T THINK IT WAS BECAUSE OF LUCK

Whether RWBY alternate continious or not I would like to say that I like both the stories that originate from Monty Oum's idea. I genuinely like RWBY proper. I'm not blind to its flaws but I still think it is a good show. As for alternate this fells like taking everything innovative from "Love, Deth & Robots" and giving it a continous plot instead of single sketch episodes, wich is a really good and interesting thing.

This all sounds like it would be an interesting book, but a needly complex action show.
It's like expanding the lore of No More Heroes. It's cool for those who want it. But I wouldn't make a lot of this the main focus.
This seems to be more laying the groundwork for the setting of the story and the actual story itself. And I think this is actually something that is a significant improvement over RWBY since the show’s current lore is horribly written and how it tackles complex things like racism is just garbage. And really getting the characters to fight is a easy thing to do but actually giving us a reason why and why that would matter to the story is another, which is a problem RWBY suffers from. Fights in RWBY should be there for more than just action fodder, there should be actual stakes and consequences that arises, we barely get any of that in RWBY as it is, which makes the fights ultimately a waste of time as while they may look pretty, they don’t mean anything. It’s like Michael Bay’s Transformers, it has a bunch of action set pieces and cool fight scenes with explosions, but that’s all there is and that’s just the bones, not the meat.
Considering how many times you say "shut up" to your audience I can only imagine how much backlash you used to get for these videos

There's specific tools to use when writing that help you make an interesting and unique essay. One of these is Unity, which is the ability to have a consistent idea that comes back in different parts of the essay. That's one of the things that makes the second time stamp so rewarding to watch.

I like to think if Monty were still around, the series wouldn't have gone so far off the rails into "WTF were they thinking" territory. As for this, this is a prime example of good writing from a fan vs poor writing from a "source". Or perhaps it's better to say a better use of the available pieces.

I like what you did with Yang though if I were to change anything it would to put the death of her mentor later after her fight for the title of RWBY leader, as he arc afterward could be accepting herself and no longer living in her sisters shadow. She learns from this mentor how to not compare herself to her sister, and just when she’s staring to get it, then he dies. This could be her lowest point and puts her in opposition of Ruby during the shows darkest hour.

Alt Yang sounds based as fuck and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Antihero Yamg is best Yang. Honestly, that Heel pose she had in the Volume 4 Promo should have been more than a formatting choice. She, along with Weiss, had a lot of potential, and I believe that both characters were squandered. Weiss' story was written to appease a liberal story agenda about "racism bad" rather than tackling the idea that Atlas may have had a point about whatever it is that they were doing and making Weiss' story more about the conflict between her obligations to her family and State and her own turmoil regarding both, forcing a constant choice between her own antipathy towards her father and family [by extension] or her obligation as a daughter of the Schnee clan regardless of personal hangups. Yang's parental issues would not a stable loving sister make, and so making her inwardly seethe at her oh-so-special sister, despite the latter's love and admiration for her older sibling, is a brilliant touch. Her story works better as an antihero or even antivillain, depending on how you'd decide to play it. A welcome change, indeed; I would kill to watch that duel.
