with the silver eyes problem, have the silver-eyed warriors be a holy tale or fairy tail, with the silver eyes begin a gift from the gods themselves, no real powers just some status.
which could be why ruby's mom would be a very favorable and remembered member of the church, which would bleed into why ruby would get more praise and recognition from her father and the church, begin a diving point with the conflict with yang.

    • @casualnobody8557

      I agree.
I'd say something along the lines of "Silver Eyes were a trait seen only in the god(s) and their greatest champions but disappeared after the fall of the empire. However, there is a rumor that one of the founders of the Beacon Monastery had silver eyes, potentially prophesizing a mass expansion outwards to the west, a massive war with the Grimm, or even the heralding the return of the god(s)."
The trait of Silver Eyes would be more ceremonial than anything, as only the gods and their champions had them. This meant that in the old days if you had Silver Eyes, you were more than likely one of the most skilled warriors before you were gifted them. But in modern times, the legend of the Silver Eyed Warriors is known to very few outside Baradin-Assan or the most ancient of Hunter Orders.

stands with fist What if the legend started because of a renowned warrior with silver eyes? Possibly while the state of humanity was still unstable this warrior (or group of warriors?) could have come to light, seeking to help those in need, but ultimately being adopted by those in power as a hero of the state. The legend would be created to legitimize their status and to turn them into a beacon of hope that others would rally behind. This could also be inspiration for the church of beacon and explain why summer rose played such an integral part in its founding.

going off the holy side, the 3 different religions could have different views and beliefs of the silver-eyed warriors/ people.
Gaetri, and becon beliefs might be that the aura is the soul protecting the body, with possible eye color representing the aura incarnate. with legends of the silver-eyed warriors becoming holy warriors in the religion, silver could a powerful and holy color and those with the eye color could be close to the gods.
Avanism could be a similar situation, with the silver-eyed warriors begin sent from the gods themselves to help fight off the Grimm, possibly making people of silver eyes as seeing as children of those holy angels like warriors, demigods and alike.
Anicism could differ as they fear the silver eyes. The silver eyes can be seen as forces of pure destruction, fighters who can bring down gods own Grimm and disrupt the natural order.

On that point, maybe the aura system could have some connection to eye color, as their auras would be the same color as their eyes.
That would be interesting as there are quite a few interesting eye colors throughout the show and it would give some reason for their assumptions about the silver eyes.
That could have some implications for Neo, as she has heterochromidia. Would she be considered to have two souls or would she be heresy? I don’t think she should get too complex a backstory, but the theorist in me got curious.

Ruby idolizing Yang only for her to ultimately hospitolize her in a match will need some serious framework put in place so the audience doesnt instantly villify one of its main cast members. It is interesting however that after Yang finally lets her pent up feelings out and regrets them immensely their dynamic has suddenly reversed. Now Yang is the one attempting to get forgiveness from a distant Ruby. Tai's reaction is also important, does he understand his part in this tragic event?

Honestly I keep imagining Bakugo vs Deku Part 2?
I don't know if you watch My Hero Academia. But Bakugo is completely fed up with "the universe being in Deku's side" so they pretty much fight. It's a very well animated fight btw
Anyway,Bakugo starts kinda breaking as the fight progresses. Finally he confesses what is making him so damn angry,he thinks All Might, the hero he admires, ended up retiring and with no powers because of him and only him. Everything is just going wrong around him.
*so let's use that with Yang*
Yang and Ruby have to fight, maybe it's training or the "Tournament Arc" still happens I dunno. Ruby is excited, says it will be a friendly fight and promises to not hurt her. This angers Yang even more cause she feels Ruby is just underestimating her,and fights with all her might, hurting Ruby,of course Ruby realizes Yang is serious and in fear asks why is she doing this. Why is she hurting her.
Yang proceeds to answer, still angry, with every thing she confesses her anger gets worse and therefore fights with even more aggressiveness. As an audience we would know Yang is doing the wrong thing but she shows another side of herself that makes us feel bad for her.
She screams about how Tai always loved Ruby more. She yells about how she gets praised when she's just a child playing pretend,Yang confesses she needs to be better so maybe her mom sees she's not a failure. Ruby just... Apologizes and says she didn't know that.
Before Yang gives the final blow... Qrow stops her. Or anyone really, part of me just really likes Qrow and he would still be the girls's uncle,he won't let this continue.
Keeping Qrow and Raven the same while having this new version of Yang and Ruby makes me feel there could be cool connections.

@@Raving_Rando ...Noooot quite. Grim don't just kill people, they also make land unsafe. Humans need a whole lot of land for farming. The more population growth is encouraged, the more land you have to defend to support it. As such, I don't think Grim would create so much pressure to grow the population. Further, it seems like hunters and huntresses are actually in the minority in this world, with most people taking up trades, or as I said, farming. Because they're protected, the death rates wouldn't be as high as you'd think, and they also don't have as huge of an issue with sickness and injury, thanks to aura, which seems to have drastically reduced the need for medical infrastructure. Because people's kids tend to live to reproducing age, Remnant seems to have adopted the first world culture, of having relatively few children, and devoting resources to them to ensure their best chance.
As far as we've seen in the series, Grim are most likely to cause fatalities in new settlements, as we saw in the backstory of Ren and Nora. (This might actually create a stigma against population growth, as they'd have to settle new land, which could get them killed.)
It's pretty evident that none of our religions are a thing in Remnant. No abrahamic religions means no real homophobia as a natural consequence. Instead, the series addresses prejudice with the Fauna. As far as politics messing with the story... not really? General Ironwood seems like a pretty good guy, and while he and Ozpin butt heads sometimes, he's got the nation's best interests at heart.

I'm not sure how to articulate this properly. But it felt honestly a bit odd that they never show the character Qrow in any commited relationships. It's hinted that he is a sexually active man, i.e. the mini skirt joke in vol 3 and the fandom at large had thought a pairing of him and Winter was possible due to it being one of the few scenes in the show proper to have some interesting character drama/history/tension.
What I'm getting at is maybe Qrow could have a son or daughter in this rewrite. And to subvert the whole dead mom thing that is already a part of ruby's character, we get ourselves a new aunt character to see. I just feel having a trio of kids in the rose/yang/brawnwen family would be an interesting way to start up some character dynamics and scenarios. This kid could maybe play a non combative role and be some kind of medic or weapon's smith. Maybe play a role like winry from fmab where this kid allows the story to show off different aspects of the surrounding world from a non hunter's perspective.
Another option could be that qrow never got married, but did have a bastard child with a woman years ago and this kid converts to beacon under thier mother's maiden name to show that they can get there as a hunter without a strong family name. This character could allow yang to be able to connect to a family member who also had troubles with their father. A bit cliche, but I think the whole part where Qrow's reaction to such news while drinking booze would be worth it alone.
I'm sorry if this is poorly written. These thoughts came to mind while watching your video and I could see how much more fun this rewrite could be with how free it is.
Thanks to anyone who reads this post and please let me know what you think of my ideas.

Shadow Thiy I like this idea a lot, it's pretty cool for this new setting, both versions of Qrow's child in fact
For the family trio idea, I could see this child being a sort of weapon smith just as you compared it to Winry in a sense, but have them be the type of character to focus on bettering the gang's armaments, because support roles always work, and depending on the rest of the characters, a medic might already be an underlying thing for some of the others (that is if Jaune is still going to be a healer of some sort in this remake but Semblance might not be a thing here so we'll just leave that out for now)
As for if this child was a bastard, that would be pretty awesome as well, I would like to see how he/she would interact with Qrow, that is if Qrow either raised or abandoned this child, but considering he/she's taking the mother's name, it's most likely the former. Have like some sort of an intense Edward/Hoenheim like moment or something ahahaha
But yeah that's just my 2c ehehehe, it's a pretty neat idea

We need Roman and neo togather
Crow can form a guild or something
the guild just hunts grim who appear in places where the army doesn't want to bother with like far villages or unknown disturbances and rwby yang and Blake join it it's more like a place to call home.
Later in the story you can make it so the bad guys burn it down which will give revenge story motives,
The guild itself can also be a training place and can be the stage where rwby and yang have their fight and crow can be the one to step in or BETTER YET MAKE IT BLAKE WHO STEPS IN AND STOP THEM it will show how much she grew to care about them.
Roman can have a Reallyyyy tragic backatory lets say that Weiss's father used to do some shady stuff and killed Romans parents to silence them, or even make it deeper Roman tries to destroy the academy because he wants to destroy everything Weiss's father holds dear,
Or he was a slave or something like that,
Still I like the idea of having a guild or an organization where some of those characters can gather
Neo would be a great bartender just saying....
Maybe he kills weisses father and that makes weiss go evil and thirsty for revenge sasuke style but along the way she finds out about the dark past of her family and slowly stops feeling the need to get revenge and instead she begins to..... (You decide)
Going back to the guild topic once again the guild can be like an adult fairy tail in a sense
Not everyone get along and people fight but in the end of the day they all care about eachother but not cringy like MY BROTHERRRRR and now we win because of friendship but more like if you are in trouble we have your back if we agree with you let's say you killed someone they won't necessarily back you up heck they might even arrested you but more like if someone targeted you they will fight with you or protect you

He hasn't presented a story. He presented us with a big, complex world, and some tremendously cliche characters. He hasn't actually come up with any story at all, succinct or otherwise.
As far as his worldbuilding goes, I think he got lost in the intricacies. It's overcomplicated, and his characters are underdeveloped. As a result, I think most of the people watching this version would get bored, and move on to something better. Yeah, RWBY's schlock, but it's entertaining. This isn't even that.

@@billlupin8345 Cliches and tropes are tools for a writer to use. They are not bad, they are not good, they simply are; it's all in how they are used. I, in my first comment, asked for him to flesh the story out. You are partially correct in that he doesn't have a story here, it's merely a premise, but it's a better premise than cock-dentures jumbled mess.
It's a potential fresh start, where he can tell a better story with themes and plot lines that cohesively wind together, and build off one another. Rooster Teeth, by contrast, has a mess of a story. Poor and some times contradictory world building elements, plot lines that go nowhere, flat and one dimensional characters.
My argument, is that his world building exercise is proof of concept that he knows more about basic story telling than the hacks at RT. I'm interested to see what he can make with this premise.
His main point across both videos is that RWBY lacks meaningful conflict. In its current state the conflict is stale, shallow, and leads to nothing, just like the rest of the story. While RWBY started strong, is fumbled and fallen from its potential and is now a vehicle to propel cosplayers into the world of voice acting. It's a political nightmare and its negative effects on the story have been more and more apparent since Monty died.

You could see an opportunity for Adam here. If having the White Fang as an extremist group being bad for the Faunus cause, have you considered to change the purpose or form of the White Fang? While it was originally a group for Faunus rights shifting to a genocidal movement, it could be fun to rebrand it to fit this world. They could be a mercenary group of Faunus and sympathizers, desperately seeking to accrue enough wealth and arms to cut out a land for them and their fellow Faunus to exist somewhere out in the frontier.
Working as hired blades to fight in the frontier or do contracts in the territories for the occasional grimm attacks. Gathering money, more faunus and the vast treasure trove of material and tech that they'll get a cut from for discovering them in old Imperial ruins. The White Fangs can be like the Faunus' attempt at going through the baby steps to developing a country and the needed bases to have strong hunters needed to take on Grimm. By this method, the WF can be seen as elite warriors and hunters, while looked down upon by some nations by virtue of being Faunus, they are looked upon in exploring and securing more land from the frontier, having extensive knowledge of the land due to being based in close proximity to it
Adam, could be one of many up and coming hunters of the latest generation. Powerful, charismatic, cunning, he could probably have his own traveling company for the WF. Born and raised within WF, he could see the human nations and their actions to dominate one another, weakening each other in a world full of monster that want their deaths, as pitiable and wants/cares little of the world of man. His people will one day have a land away from it all, his elders say so, and he does his part to hasten that long sought goal a little bit more.
Faunus being imparted with animalistic traits, means that some among them are capable of sniffing out their kin, often found at the fringe of settlements or simply hiding from cruel locals, when possible, WF seeks to gather them, persuading them to travel to WF or join their wandering companies until they eventually return. As such, if one were to gather the total number of WF and its wandering companies, the fearful notion that they'd equate to a sizable army or small nation, would be alarming to any human country. Which is exactly the truth, as some nations have taken note to the number and size of these companies going through their territories. Their has even been whispers of rumors, that the more anti-faunus nations are plotting to deal with the WF.
Whether Blake is ever to be a part or interact with the Fang, is something for you to fit in there. The WF, while mainly Faunus, does have humans among their ranks, often the homeless, orphans or ethnically shunned, and sought a home and family with WF. Blake could've met Adam, was charmed to see what they're all about and traveled a little till she was offered to join WF with her parents welcome as well. Though of course the frontier is a harsh and unforgiving place, her parents safety there was just too much to risk than living within the safer nations of Man.
The season 6 path between Adam and Blake could've been different here. With Beacon being anti-Faunus, it would be the most horrifying of ironies that, Blake would never, even till then reveal her Faunus nature, and with Beacon as it is in your version, would've secretly set up a mission to annihilate a WF company, that happens to be Adam's. Immediately understanding the political checkmate that would entail if a WF company is pinned for wiping out several teams of Beacon students, Adam would've likely stayed behind with the knowledge of being disavowed by WF and be seen as a violent rogue Faunus. Some maybe most would be killed off by him, it'll eventually wind up with him facing off with Blake and Yang. The impact of Blake's character in choosing to help a weakened Adam or join Yang in his murder, would be big.
But meh, this is just an idea

I wanna keep Semblances because let's be real, super powers are just cool, let's not pretend they aren't. But to fit better with this setting, I wanna make a few changes.
Number 1, Semblances stay, Aura goes. And I when I mean Aura, I exclusively mean the fucking force-field that everybody has until damage. It's the one thing about RWBY that I've grown to hate more and more as the series went on, as it completely kills all tension into a fight until's broken (or just decides it doesn't wanna work-oh hey Adam, what's up?)
Number 2, they aren't free anymore. Yes I know that technically, Ruby doesn't get to spam super speed all she wants without getting tired. But that's not what I mean. Even in the OG show, it's basically confirmed that using them requires tapping into your, like, 'Soul Power' basically. Your soul. The thing that makes you ALIVE. Using that shit should be a last resort, clutch out a win, "either use it now or literally die" kind of ability. Even short bursts of her speed should make Ruby nearly pass out. Maybe that's a little extreme, but what I'm saying is there should be clearly defined consequences for using this things, make them more special.
Anybody else got any ideas for Semblance changes?

    • @kelixbro3456
      @kelixbro3456 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

KingCrowBro if Semblances will have cost, and like a of cost to one's soul
Maybe have Semblances include various special moves or whatever to the Semblances, kinda like spells
And depending on the intensity of using the Semblance, for example if Yang still had her explosive ass angry Semblance, maybe have it operate pretty much like One For All from MHA, but instead has heavy stamina costs and with a massive superpowered punch or whatever, would probably render her unresponsive...
So for some utility Semblances like Weiss', it'll allow her to still use glyphs in her fight style but to a more minimum and to also be that support in battle type character, whereas summons from her will cause her, herself to be useless in a fight and the longer the summons from a glyph or bigger it is from said glyph, the closer it brings her to draining out her soul.
And well these are just examples, I don't know if it sounds good or whack :/
But yeah, either way your Semblance idea is cool and Aura should definitely go because it just...it's shit :^)

I honestly want to keep auras, just have them be the life force of people in RWBY that only gifted or trained individuals can activate or use (a select few that is required or Huntsman maybe)
      EMPHASIS ON THE ACTIVATE
Instead of people using it naturally it has to be taught how to use and interact with. For instance of Sierra Khan... she was either never trained to use her aura or didn't activate hers in time.
I mean just imagine if Hazel had used HULK like strength and Aura Shields during the Haven fight instead of just... being a bother.

I have an idea for Salem to be seen as a figure of pure mystery that interacts with all the nations
Salem is a parasitic grade four Grim that has developed a both intelligence and enlightenment from over hundreds of years of her existence and purposely decides to take the host of young adult women and preserves the bodies to last her at most 200 years before it starts decaying. Although the creature known as Salem is a twisted being as for a Grim it does not particularly have any true malice or instinctual hatred towards humanity. When it had became enlightened, it instead has developed a fondness of human nature and wishes to meddle in the development of humanity and wants see whether the humans and fanus will survive and grow or suffer and parish.
Salem has no control or rule over the Grim and is merely just another Grim at the end of the day, but even so Salem self-proclaims herself as the representative of the Grim to provide communications and knowledge of the demons to give humans a better understanding of the world they walk through, but Salem isn't so charitably to go visit humanity to give advise to them and instead has them travel to her home in order to seek her consul.
Salem lives at the top of the mountains in a forgotten palace that boarders off most of the Grim from entering Terria all at once, but the journey to reach her home is very treacherous indeed with many Grim from grades 2 to 3 roaming around the Mountain Palace 24/7 will spell certain death if one is not prepare for the journey. Anyone who is brave or completely desperate for knowledge will only travel to where the Witch's Mountain Palace to gain truths beyond their of understandings.
But there is a major issue with the knowledge that Salem provides, since she has no alliterative motive beyond curiosity, no one can truly get a read on her decisions to help aid humanity and many question why is her information can be consider a creditable. On a few occasion of the doubt towards the Witch led to her "death" by very many skilled Huntsmen and Huntress who only saw her as a monster at the top of the palace, but in most cases people would distort the knowledge they received from Salem to gain benefits for themselves and their group, assumed that the witch meant the opposite of what she had claimed, to trick a nation to fall for the supposed trap provided by the witch, or even hide information that could be seen as harmful to their own group. This distortion of information has led may nations to have a different perspective of Salem making her a vague being that could seem like a messenger of God or a disruptive force of chaos.
How Salem acquired such knowledge is due to her intelligence and enlightenment, Salem is able to use a forgotten art known as 'magic' to gather her information across Terria for centuries at this point. Magic is this story of RWBY is nothing like the former, 'magic' in this story is a complete and utter chaotic force that it could whip out humanity if not utilized properly, especially if it is one of the four core elements ( Fire, Water, Air, and Earth), but the magic that Salem uses has no clear combative capabilities, instead Salem focuses on Clairvoyance, Physical and Mental Illusions, Soul mending, and Dowsing arts. Salem's Clairvoyance is by far her most impressive art she possess, being able to see the current state of every single thing that occurs in Terria giving her all the information that her audience my want to know or see. Even though she can not directly kill her opponents she can often times than not, break the will of those that decide to attack her whether it is Man or Grim.
Salem is only on Salem side and she has no interest in aiding her kinsmen or physically aiding humanity for a better future. She will forever be a force that rest upon at the top of mountain and fulfill the role she set for herself to do for the rest of her life.

First was the growing pains inside of Blake's ears which didn't have a medical explanation, then there was Blake changing her hairstyle very quickly to cover her ears (perhaps she was really into earrings or having her hair up in a ponytail before her ears transformed) and then there were the new hair accessories. The bow wasn't too much of a clue to them but it was the insistence on things like earmuffs and headphones they were more concerned about. Just a thought.

  • @yoinkling
    @yoinkling 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Why does Blake even wear that "bowtie" on her head? In this world are bowties even real disguises? If people have real cat ears, and people with real cat ears and other animal parts are discriminated against in a given country would that country allow for the making of bowties for normal people to wear, and would there even be a market for that? If there was a niche market wouldn't the rest of society discriminate towards those customers? It wouldn't be seen as hipster, it'd be seen as "fauna supporter" by normal people and as...like a weird form of black face by fauna. I doubt schools any would allow much less a school in a discriminatory country

Cinder could be an instructor that Ruby’s mom trained and she blames Ruby for her death. Mercury and Emerald could be Cinder’s favourites that she uses to bully Ruby and her team. Helps give many sources of conflict with Yangs inferiority complex, Weiss not wanting to get her family involved and Blake’s secret being found.

I know this is late, but I need to get this off my chest.
Whew boy, this...is is certainly something.
This really isn't a fix it fic. This is just different world building and trope swapping, most of which isn't even any good. Some of them are downright terrible. On the other hand, some of them are basically what's in the show already!
Weiss does have abusive parents! Or at least one abusive parent. The other is a bit of an absentee/neglectful parent. We saw in Volume 4 that her father does abuse/manipulate her. That's nothing new.
Others feel like the person has a wee bit of an agenda. Some of it seems to be making the world a little darker and edgier, like Faunas being mutated by Grimm, which kinda cheapens the whole discrimination thing IMO if they're literally part monster...like, where's the subtlety in that? The Faunas subplot is probably the weakest part of RWBY to me, but this somehow makes it worse. It seems like they're trying to justify why humans hate Faunus, rather then going with the reason the show does, which is that humans are just inherently shitty sometimes and hate that which is different, just like in real life. They don't need to be part-monster and adding that just makes it seem really hamfisted. I know RWBY isn't exactly known for subtlety, but c'mon...this is way more in your face.
It also seems they're going for a more morally grey-world by having a bigger focus on governments/religions and other challenging topics...but then Adam is just 100%, genuinely heroic. Which is kinda weird, and a little dumb to me, since Adam was morally grey, as Blake says. He started out good with good intentions, but as time went on he slipped further and further down the rabbit hole of madness and spite, and became the broken man we see in Volume 6. Why not have Adam in this story start out as good as of his first appearance, and then we see his descent throughout the story? People still like Adam even though he was pretty damn monstrous in most of his appearances, so even more would probably like him if we actually start with Adam as a good character from the get-go.
Moving on to the whole Ruby/Yang thing...why change that? I find it rather refreshing that these are siblings with no ill will, no rivalry, no dumb drama between the two of them. They get along rather well and are basically best friends. That's nice, wholesome, and really seems a hell of a lot less cliche then competing siblings, which is the majority of sibling relations in fiction.
The outfit changes...that seems like the person has a little bit of a chip on their shoulder about...something. They want RWB to be more modest (for no specified reason) but Yang to be skimpier? That seems more then a little weird to me.
The random age/species/name changes...they don't really matter, nor do they make it better, unless there's solid reasoning behind them. There is none. How does any of that make the story better?
Why the hell would Ren and Nora be spies? Spies for whom, and why?
Beacon Academy is now the Church of Beacon...but is it still a Huntsman academy? What actually happens there, or is it still basically the same Beacon, just renamed. Name changes don't really matter that much. How does its function change? What difference does that make to the story? These are the things are rewrite should focus on. Not just changing the name and appearance of everything.
All the stuff about governments and religions...doesn't really sound all too great. Why would a religion debate whether or not killing the soulless monsters who want to kill all of humanity is moral? The dumb rename for Grimm implies they're still exactly the same as they are in canon, so nothings really changed there. It just sounds like the writer is trying to put in moral greyness everywhere they can, but not actually putting forward why its grey. He's just saying "People disagree about this" or "This is controversial" in a roundabout way, but not actually getting into what the opposing views are. Like Pyrrha being infamous for her fathers political views. What political views, and why are they unpopular? More importantly, she can still be a star athlete and have a controversial father. One does not exclude the other.
There's a bunch of other character changes that seem pointless and doesn't improve anything, like Sun and Penny. What does changing them do to anything? How does it make the plot better?
Blake being a straight up Ninja...good gods how horribly cliched that would be if Blake is just a copy-paste ninja, wearing entirely Japanese clothes, using entirely Japanese weapons. Literally the easiest and most generic anime/fanfiction character possible. Pass.
All that nonsense about lost technology...nah. It works perfectly in canon to have Kingdoms with a technological disparity, because countries in real life, especially going through the industrial and early modern ages, had huge technological disparities between them. Also, calling this bygone age "The Imperial Era", having it end in "The Fall" and the end result being rare, ancient and ill-understood technology that anachronistic states fought over all seems a little too similar to Warhammer 40,000 for me. Probably wasn't intentional, but seems that way to me.
But the biggest and most important thing about this whole mess is that it doesn't even "fix" RWBY, its not even really RWBY at this point. Its a story that just copies and pastes some elements of RWBY then throws the rest out for some other stuff. There's no real suggestions about rewriting scenes or story lines, no reworked characters arcs, except for some light stuff with Ruby/Yang and Adam. There's no ideas about how the series grand conflict would be changed, or even what it is. Is this RWBY if it followed them through Beacon for 4 years? RWBY if they spent more time doing actual monster hunting? RWBY if the kingdoms were at war, or a combination of the above? Is this RWBY with literally the exact same plot, but a different world?
Tl;dr: This isn't RWBY, but better, this is a totally different story and world using RWBY names.

Maybe have it applied to his aura instead, his aura absorbs the damage and he feeds it back or making him able to spread his aura around objects he touches maybe restricting him have to only focus more on the aura of the object instead of his own body?
How about making his a feedback instead of Yangs buildup, every hit he takes he has to dish back or release out, makes him not use it carelessly like in the show.

After watching the first video I got an idea about the possible inclusion of Penny in this version. In this version she could be a prototype android that was created before The Fall and was found by the RWBY gang during a mission or something. The conflict that comes from her character could be that the people who created her treated her as another human (The purpose in doing so was to make her interactions with humans more natural once she was released to the public), but now she's in a completely different age where people aren't all exactly trusting of the ancient technologies. So she now has to deal with people who treat her either as an abomination or a tool to be reverse engineered. Of course this would mean that she doesn't look nearly as human-like as she did in RWBY former.
Also, if it fits into you're idea of The Fall, I think Penny could have been put into stasis or something intentionally before it occured, indicating that the people of that time had some knowledge of what was about to happen to them.

Having straight characters suddenly turn gay because a twitter mob threatened to lynch the writers doesn’t make for a convincing romance arc. I think that RWBY was supposed to be a beat em show with amazing fight choreography and over the top weapons, that was the appeal of the show ( at least the 1st 2 vol.) hence why the over all story and layout was generic. There's a TH-camr called Gigguk that had a discussion on RWBY when it was going through it's " is it really anime though?" phase, and he comments on how rediculous the weapons are, to where he says " the final boss is gonna have a rocket launcher that turns into an apache attack chopper" ( something along those lines) and I found that hilarious ( I recommend watching that video). In the later half of Vol. 3 rooster teeth decided they want to go for a more world building story rout and well we all know how that turned out.

Mind you, he wasn't a novelist, poet, or any other artisan for that matter, but he was damn good in how engagement of fights/battles/campaigns went, (read that in any way you will). And he had a clear philosophy on why people fought to protect. And this would go as far back as to how old the "Art of War" would be in conjunction with the "time setting" this world is set in.

  • @omikamiz568

Silver Eye : well...maybe something bout ancient bloodline of people who have something to do with grim. Unlike power to destroy them like in OG , but power to control grim of some source.
Adam : I agree , he start at railroad member but after sometime(in story not past) some event happened and change his world view. And he begin to go down a dark path, but as morally grey villain. He's first as "only self defend" , but after that event and gather some follower . He begin his guerilla war against those who try to attack his people . At least him and his crew still chill enough to not attack civilian unless they become a threat , but that doesn't mean he is kind enough to let any of aggressor go after messing with him and his group.
Salem : ...Just pack her with the Grim . No need for lackey like Cinder group . Just her and advance grim/humanoid grim who act has her general and she is their queen. Oh and if possible , change her eye to become silver too . I would love to see Ruby find out what "silver eye" meant....and it's not a good one for people who know what it is. For short , Salem is ancestor of Ruby or something . But down the line one of her children (maybe Summer herself) want to live a different life and try to escape . Salem sent her general to pursuit and capture them but in the end have to kill them all but that's what she think . Last survivor came into contact with human and escape to human world without Salem knowing.
And if you think why they didn't use their power to help escape , they already did...BUT!!!! Even if those who flee share the same power as Salem , the ability to control grim . They won't have the same authority as Salem so it won't work when Salem directly order their capture or kill.
So basically it can stay the same as you write until event Fall of Beacon . Salem know about the existence of Ruby and try to capture her at all cost , She just want her great great grand daughter back(or at least kill her if necessary). And here is the different between OG and my version , My version of Salem love her family(those who shared her bloodline) so dearly but because their betrayal(try to escape)....even if it pain her to kill them she won't hesitate. She can't risk any possibility for someone who had her power to be on opposite side until her final goal was realized. To destroy god.
Ozpin : Still kinda the same as his OG counterpart. But not as immortal ancient as in OG , he is the only few people who know about "silver eye" and it connection to Salem . He also the one who help Summer escape to human world(which at that time he won't know what special about her). He just one of many Huntsman who was sent to the east territory and by chance..meet Summer. And that is why Salem want his head.

It could give more reason to go out into the more wilderness part of the world and could be used for a cool backdrop. Heck maybe even have someone like ozpin. An ancient immortal trapped and have him act as a narrative piece as to the background of the grim.

Silver eyes could originate as legend or folktale from 'Ren's country'. It could be brought up late into the first arc or midway into the second arc as throw in with Ren and/or Nora chatting about random topics. Then later in another arc where Ruby explores the rest of the continent, someone from the Ren's country comes across an injured/ travel weary Ruby. He helps or tries to rob her and comments on her eyes. After the encounter she thinks back and realizes she had heard the story about silvers eyes before but didn't know it was a old folktale known almost exclusively known to local tribe within 'Ren's country'. Ruby later pieces together that Ren originates from that country and decides how to confront him about it the next time they meet

  • @malrict5969
    @malrict5969 5 ปีที่แล้ว

My first thought for what silver eyes would be is a phenotype displaying a rare genetic trait, believed to be relatively common among devout religious warriors and heroes in the last age by the church at Beacon and other places, that improves ones ability to fight in a number of ways, such as: allowing one to handle extreme physical and mental strains; having a large boost to the effectiveness of adrenaline rushes, hysterical strength, and second winds; improvements to overall physical endurance and mental agility and precision (so as to help them keep up with their better physical capabilities and with formulating battle strategies). These aspects of it would not be very well known and would mostly be rumored about by religious folk and those who have seen silver eyed people perform great feats rather than scientifically tested due to the nature of when the benefits are apparent and the rarity of the trait itself. It is not a fully fleshed out idea, but the idea behind it is to both give credence to the beliefs of those who we would see regularly holding the trait in high esteem and to set Ruby as special from the rest of the capable fighters in the cast. It could be the only reason she is able to survive that deadly battle with Yang which is where the effects of the trait start to become apparent to the audience. I also had the idea for Ozpin to have silver eyes too, though it is a fact that he goes to some lengths to hide in order to keep as low of a profile as possible.
Switching gears to Ozpin, I imagined him being a "chaotic good" character that is the counterpart to Salem. He would be highly manipulative and cunning, working towards uniting the human, and eventually faunus as well, to work together and destroy the Grimm totally. He would cause a lot of problems on the way to doing this, and would not be fully trusted by the main cast by the end of the second season. At this point he would switch to being a scheming background character (like Salem) that causes issues the gang has to deal with in the name of creating a lasting peace across all of Remnant. I don't know how well a character like this would fit into what you are thinking of for this version of things, but I personally always wanted to see Ozpin be a good-but-not-entirely-good good guy that has a great affect on the political happenings of the world.
Other things I want to give an opinion on:
Blake's parents would 100% know she is a faunus. There is no good reason for this to not be the case, and the simple fact of them knowing and not rejecting her makes for a decent baseline for their characters.
Sun (or whatever takes Sun's place, since having a Sun-like character is a good idea even if you don't want him specifically) should totally be a human who cares about the faunus and is one of the first to figure out what Blake really is. Having him be blatantly faunus while Blake tries her hardest to hide her faunus nature doesn't make much sense, and keeping the faunus trait a rarer thing would have the discrimination be more understandable. If they are everywhere some people would start to see it as normal and that would work against the role they fill and the conflict they are supposed to generate in the story. Also, the rarer it is, the more reasonable it is for people to assume that it is a detestable mutation instead of a normal genetic trait.
Adam Taurus could be a introduced of as a villain but later turn out to be a benefactor of the faunus. He should also keep his negative traits like getting overly angry at the injustices he sees and how he can be obsessive about things - and people - he cares about. Having him be upset with all the evils he sees yet constantly reining himself in to try to fix things through peaceful means like the Underground Railroad type idea you had would help him have meaningful and understandable short arcs that don't need a ton of time to set up and explain. I don't quite know how he should be in character interactions though. He could be a love interest for Blake that contends with Sun at a few points, or those characteristics could be limited by having his zeal be at the forefront of his design instead.
Wow, this is much longer than I planned. Hope someone enjoys my thoughts on things or is able to use them to add to this whole idea. And I do think it is a great idea too, by the way. You should try to make this a thing yourself if you are able.

Why does lgbt stuff needs to be present? I mean that shouldn't be even a plot point, who sleeps with who should be left to the imagination

Going off that logic, we may as well not have any straight relationships either. Why do we have to know who's sleeping with who? That's all relationships are, after all, right?
It doesn't have to be a significant plot point with a disproportionate amount of focus. It should just....be there. Like straight people are just there. They're just people. Write the characters as people, have their sexuality as a random anecdote like it is with straight characters and move on. If y'all are so distracted by a character being LGBT, that's a you problem.
I do think that RT doesn't have any business writing anything LGBT-related though. They just aren't good at it. Even Saffron and Terra seemed vaguely "Eyyyy we got lesbians y'all! Lookit! Lesbians!" when Terra came home.
But some people writing LGBT characters poorly doesnt mean they should never be written into creative works ever.

@@Shmurph exactly, the problem Is when they try so hard to show they are inclusive, everyone notices it just how forced and badly written it is, personally I think that dependong on the type of story it may be, it could be better to not even put romance at all, others may require it as a plot device

They created the problem to dictate over others creation and can't win with having it or not as they always have something to cry about. They would rather not have it as it weighs less on something to complain over and over. Typical people crying over fake sensitivity.

@@QosmicVoid Japan can do a better job of it and even tease to bait people as a gag joke just for the fans and then continue on. It's funny how Japan does a better job even though majority involves straight relationships and gay relationships is behind as second as Japan needs to have a reason due to low birth rates.

You could say that semblances are considered a gift from the church’s god. You could also say it was another mutation but everyone got it so they couldn’t discriminate it.
Edit: also this would be an epic video game if this was made as one I would buy it in a second.

It's not RWBY when you change everything about the Series. Changing what made a character who they are changes what the Series is. Your ideas are great, but changing the RWBY world makes it not RWBY anymore. A great original take on RWBY. But the world and characters are completely alternate universe in comparison. Some lacked depth, others became nothing more than one-shots.
Their is a RWBY anthology manga that adds depth to the team RWBY that the show lacks. It shows why Ruby is how she is. I don't have any negative remarks about your work. It's your take on the show. But if the RWBY series has hundreds of followers it's not for lack of story-board or character abandonment. It's because certain things just don't really matter at the time.
Overall your "Revision of RWBY" is quite good. I doubt I could do that in just a 35 minute video.

The amount of changes put into RWBY Former by your "But Better" version are drastic enough to where it could potentially become its own IP if you just swapped around a bunch of names. After all, terms like Grimm aren't exactly copyrighted by Rooster Teeth.

Just a suggestion for the silver eyes power
Silver eye is a dominant trait that pass down through the generations that allowed the user to wield ancient empire technology weapon/ vechicle.
Like it grants the user a signature aura that the technology could recognize
And add half breeds of the silver eye that only temporarily active it via only one eye turning silver when agitated or something

I think making aura a extension of the soul used to protect, heals, and strengthens the individual whilst semblances are more like signatures of the soul an unique ability that is more like an expression of that persons soul, and I also think that these concepts should be shrouded in some mystery with people not knowing everything about them or how they work since the source is the soul rather than anything immediately quantifiable.

this would allow for the super human feats we see in rwby former, and would add more weight to religion and the presence of gods in the setting seeing as aura and semblances are not quantifiable similar to how god isn't quantifiable
