Past simple and present perfect both of them are used to describe actions which happened in the past, we use the past simple when your know exactly, when an action happened , like last year, last night, yesterday, a week ago, last year i travelled to the usA, we use the present perfect when we are talking generally about a past action, or about a past action that happened more than once, ex i have never eaten Turkish food. I have watched Titanic twice in my life.
