I'm not sure if you check comments from videos this old but I wanted to let you know how useful this was for me. I'm thinking of switching from my z-fold to a pixel fold and even though this video is a year-old I'm sure that it still applies. Anyway, this is exactly the information I needed and I thank you.
Been using a galaxy watch active for a while, and the lack of google apps have been a bit infuriating, so I'm glad there's a lot more available here because of wear os! Still a bit of a bummer, they try to force you into using samsungs own apps, by hard coding them to the buttons.
Samsung apps are usually coded to use some sort of internal Samsung specific APIs. That why they can't be properly used on other devices. They need API calls that are bundled into Samsung's One UI version of Android.
I really like the look and price of this thing, but there's just too much fiddling and compromise for me and my Pixel 5a. I think I've narrowed it down to the Fossil Gen 6 and Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra for currently available Wear OS watching that will eventually receive the Wear 3 update. Or I might wait to see what the ton of sub-brands of Fossil come up with based on the Gen 6 platform. I would love a Skagen Falster 3, or a Diesel On Fadelite 2.
I cannot emphasize enough how much you need to stay away from Fossil. I bought a Fossil Gen 5 which I had for a month. The charging rings fell off and the microphone is practically useless due to its staggering low quality. I contacted support and they said they couldn't send me a replacement but that I would have to send my watch off for at least two months while the factory decided what was wrong with it then they would call me and let me know if they were going to charge me or not. If I declined the charge then they would just send my watch back but I'd have to wait at least another month for it to arrive. So let me summarize.. I spent $200 on a $300 watch from the official Fossil web page then the watch malfunctioned and the company told me that my only option was to send it off for three months. I have to pay for shipping and repairs. I feel really slided by Fossil and won't be doing anymore business with them. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: $114 Fossil Gen 5: $300
Google is going to come out with a Pixel Watch soon (or at least the watch has been leaked by a phone carrier so not sure how soon it's going to come out but I'd guess pretty soon), so if you're ok with waiting then that might be the best move.
Very useful since im planning on getting a Watch 4 40mm (i think thats the size you were mainly wearing and showing in the video) and use it with my OnePlus 7T (ive been using a Galaxy Watch without much issue all this time). Thanks for the super clear vid!

Great video. Been looking for something like this for a while. I recently went from a Samsung phone to the Pixel 7 with my Galaxy watch5. My biggest disappointment is that my alarms do not sync like they did with my Samsung s21. It would be great if I could get the alarms or reminders to sync.
I'm ordering the watch 4 classic through verizon with a trade-in for $200 (bought a 1st gen watch active for $50) and then an extra $180 off for buying an android phone, the pixel 6 pro. I'm paying around $100 for the watch 4 classic 46mm version if you count the money spent on the used watch Active. I hate that Google didn't hit us with the double whammy of a new Pixel phone and watch. I read their newly acquired Fitbit group is working hard on a real Wear OS watch. Then I might have to sell the galaxy watch 4.
Great video. I'm currently on a Samsung phone, but I'm thinking about getting a Pixel 6, so I was very curious about this. Seems like the only critical thing really missing is the EKG and Blood Pressure monitoring which would be nice for Samsung just to add to Samsung Health App for non Samsung phones. The other features would be nice but kinda have work arounds that aren't too bad.
@@ryanjabell I'm most likely getting a Pixel 6 Pro, on the waitlist now. Nice to see Google finally upping their hardware game. Too bad they decided to hold back on doing their own watch though. I really wish this Galaxy Watch was a no compromise Wear OS 3 device but seems close enough and still ahead of what other companies like Fossil or even Mobvoi are offering. Maybe I'm being impatient but I don't want to wait a year to have your watch start realizing it's potential.

Remote connections - calling feature on samsung phone is powerful. You can make calls from watch and receive if your phone and watch are connected to wifi ( not necessarily same ) . It's a shame that feature is not available on one plus 7. Deal-breaker for me but already bought the watch
I don't know why the link for XDA Developers isn't provided as stated in the video (work-around for Samsung Health app. - non-Samsung smartphones). Others have commented on this, and I can tell the author looks at the comments. Aside from that, an awesome and thoughtful series of videos.

Just got a galaxy watch 5 pro golf edition and finding the capsules for Bixby is a bit different now. It is the same Galaxy Wearable > Apps > Bixby but now, it is "More Ways To Use Bixby" and there is no mention of capsules anymore.
I just Hooked up My Galaxy watch 4 classic to my brand new One Plus Open and I Love it. I was tired of my Z Fold 3 and I waited for the Z Fold 6 to drop and I decided to ditch Samsung for a company that doesn't cheat you and puts a 67 watt charger in the box❤

@@theRandy712 the only missing features are blood pressure monitoring and the ecg readings. Heart rate tracking still works as it should, as does everything else including sleep tracking, steps and heart rate etc. Google assistant has just been added too... Overall it works really well would say go for it it's a really nice watch and not that limited being paired with the pixel as its only those 2 features you can't use. I'm not bothered by no ecg or blood pressure reading if I'm honest so that's no big deal for me!
I have been using OnePlus 8 Pro.. Should I go for Galaxy watch 4 LTE Version? Also I have heard from Samsung Store in Delhi, that Barometer, and Altimeter will also not work (Including ECG, & Blood Pressure) with my phone..

Hi! Great info and video. Question for you..i currently have a watch 3 and just switched to the google pixel 6. I noticed when i get msgs on my phone, it doesnt show up on the watch. I downloaded the plug in & accessory apps. I am connecting both devices( watch & phone) via bluetooth as I did with my previous phone ( samsung s10)...any help/assistance you can provide would be much appreciated!

Nice was looking at asus phone but felt alot of features would be locked since it's not a Samsung but it's still running Android. Especially how back then alot of people said alot of features don't work smoothly on airpods on non iPhone. So I'd assume it's the same for the galaxy watch but it's pretty neat

honestly I thought the difference would be way worse. The missing apps and keyboard are fixable, I never use my camera-function on watch, ECG and bloodpressure I never used, capsules never either, bedtimemode and DND are on a timer (22:00 - 07:00) and remote connection with calls ain't so bad. Plus AR watchfase is something I'm not interested in.

What about beaming Samsung health fitness videos to tv? I have s22 ultra and the watch 3 effortlessly beams the fitness workout videos from Samsung health onto my roju stick. It will also show my live stats from watch on the tv as I'm working out (like apples fitness)
Bed time mode is available on Pixel phones (at least on P3 and P4). There is a notification + DND + B&W screen.. Do not understand why you do not have it as an option..
My find my phone application works only when galaxy wearable app is being used and not when my phone screen is off even if my watch is connected with it via bluetooth. I am using a POCO device. Is it normal or this is also a one feature which this watch doesn't support with non Samsung users

Hi! Great info and video. Question for you..i currently have a watch 3 and just switched to the google pixel 6. I noticed when i get msgs on my phone, it doesnt show up on the watch. I downloaded the plug in & accessory apps. I am connecting both devices( watch & phone) via bluetooth as I did with my previous phone ( samsung s10)...any help/assistance you can provide would be much appreciated!

Nice was looking at asus phone but felt alot of features would be locked since it's not a Samsung but it's still running Android. Especially how back then alot of people said alot of features don't work smoothly on airpods on non iPhone. So I'd assume it's the same for the galaxy watch but it's pretty neat

honestly I thought the difference would be way worse. The missing apps and keyboard are fixable, I never use my camera-function on watch, ECG and bloodpressure I never used, capsules never either, bedtimemode and DND are on a timer (22:00 - 07:00) and remote connection with calls ain't so bad. Plus AR watchfase is something I'm not interested in.

yes you can. you can even use the mic & speaker from the watch for conversation
As stated above yes! Very limited and no texts or anything but I can make and receive calls on my wast hours 4 with iPhone

What about beaming Samsung health fitness videos to tv? I have s22 ultra and the watch 3 effortlessly beams the fitness workout videos from Samsung health onto my roju stick. It will also show my live stats from watch on the tv as I'm working out (like apples fitness)
Bed time mode is available on Pixel phones (at least on P3 and P4). There is a notification + DND + B&W screen.. Do not understand why you do not have it as an option..

My find my phone application works only when galaxy wearable app is being used and not when my phone screen is off even if my watch is connected with it via bluetooth. I am using a POCO device. Is it normal or this is also a one feature which this watch doesn't support with non Samsung users
