    Great video! Thank you for making this. I have been curious about this since using the Envision app on the phone.

    The function "instant Text" makes sense with small textpassages like tickets or signs. In no way with boolks. There you can use ""scan text".

      It was very disappointing. I was hoping it would be on par with some of the other smart glasses options too.

    I’ve realized even with using seeing AI, it’s just 1 million times easier to call someone with Be My Eyes or Aira. I get the independence thing, but the imperfections of these types of technologies still aren’t close enough to human judgment. Plus, for as expensive as these things are, you think their performance would be much better

    • @UnsightlyOpinions

      In many cases that’s exactly it!

      I’m really disappointed, maybe the model that came out this year is better in this sense. I am on the spectrum and have sensory issues, the noises in my ear would make me jump out the window in about 1 minute.

    I have never used the envision glasses, but I own a Orcam MyEye Pro. My thought is that the Orcam is far better of a device than the Envision glasses at this point in time. The Orcam gives me independence when I’m shopping, and allows me to read text from multiple sources with little to no problems. I absolutely love my Orcam, but think I would feel let down if I had purchased the Envision glasses. I think most people will only struggle so long with a device before abandoning that device, and I fear the Envision glasses would just wind up in a drawer somewhere. I use Orcam, on the other hand, all the time and it goes with me everywhere.

      I have come to the same concision. I’m so glad orcam helps you in your life. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sure it will help others looking at purchasing the device.

      Are you low vision or blind? People say orcam is really for low vision users.

    • @MrMagoo-wp7pq
      @MrMagoo-wp7pq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ckadlik1 I am not totally blind. I see the shapes of cans and things, but can’t read anything on them. Some things I recognize by colors and shape, but it’s always a crap shoot whether or not I get the right thing. I shop alone usually, and usually have to ask for help on every aisle. That’s not the case anymore. Orcam doesn’t read everything, or know every bar code, but I can shop by myself now. As you know, everyone with blindness or vision loss has a different experience. My vision is 20/1200 right now, with blind spots in the center of my vision in both eyes. I hope this explanation helps you. I recommend trying them out before jumping in with both feet.

    thank you for such a comprehensive review. I have only been testing the glasses for 2 hours and I have already reached many of the same conclusions you have. I find the device slow and very inaccurate when I used the "explore" feature. for example, it labelled a sink a toilet and there was no toilet in sight. honestly, I do think there will be a day when this product will be invaluable for persons dealing with vision loss but not yet.

      I couldn't agree more. I'm glad this kind of tech exists, but it is very much still in its infancy. I find apple's new apps to be much more reliable but not perfect yet either sadly.

    Do newer models have today's ai voices (honestly I thought the better voices existed two years ago) or maybe "human like" text to speech requires licenses or more processing...?

    • @UnsightlyOpinions
      @UnsightlyOpinions  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m not as up to date on envision’s recent releases. But most certainly higher quality voices require more processing and usually better speakers. I believe envision is still using google glass 2 which is relatively old tech released in 2019.

    Sounds to me like you'd already made your decision before you recorded the video. I think that's unfair. These just sound amazing to me, veing so independent when out and about. Been able to read signs, been able to recognise people and objects. Sounds pretty great to me. The only thing I don't like is that the camera is on the right side, not in the centre. Doesn't make sense to me to be like that. Also, I have not heard any other reviews where it's heavier on the right side, but that is something I would not like either.

    I would choose The Orcam over these glasses any day. What a flop. thank you for being very honest. I saw the Orcam, and these glasses reviewed by another blind TH-camr, and boy did he sugar code them. I am very much appreciated your honest opinion on these products, because they are very expensive. The price is too high to pay for something that will turn out to be A lot less helpful than was portrayed on a blind channel nonetheless. Seeing how it actually worked on this channel made me lose respect for the other channel. Because that guy was actually recommending, and praising both glasses. When I actually watched his videos, I actually wanted these glasses. I’m glad to have come across your videos. Orcam is not accurate, but it is nowhere near as good as he said it is. These glasses however, I wouldn’t get them for free. They’re that awful. That’s my take on it anyway. Again. Thank you.

    Definitely doesn't sound like the greatest thing out there, especially considering the price. Based on what you showed I think even Microsoft seeing AI works better than Envision Google glasses. They seam slow and very unintuitive. The Orcam would probably be the better option if you're looking for portability. It can magnet to a pair of glasses so you don't have to hold it, and it does a way better job with OCR

    • @UnsightlyOpinions
      @UnsightlyOpinions  ปีที่แล้ว

      You and I are entirely on the same page. I couldn't believe how non-intuitive and slow they were. While Orcam isn't perfect by a large stretch, it's much better in my opinion than Envision.
