I'm living proof of everything these guys are saying - I'm 54 and a woodworker for over 30 years - I can get up off the couch and do 20 pull-ups - I can bend at the waist, touch the floor walk with my arms into a plank and do 50 push-ups then walk back on my hands and stand up - All because I do "something" every day... And I still beat myself up over thinking I don't do enough - I'm also a Marine vet which all my friends point out to me as if that's the only reason I do all this and they can't/don't - I'm always trying to get my friends to do anything and it's worked on a lot of them. I was on a road trip for a couple months this fall and trained a pal from HS wile I was home - While I was there he went down a shirt size and two holes on his belt... Just do SOMETHING every day - As far as real workouts, stick to the 70% rule, just put 70% effort into real workouts - this way you'll do it every day - If you beat yourself up and get too sore, you won't work out the next day...

I've been telling people this for years, but most people would rather have a cut bodybuilder physique. No weights needed, the bare minimum will keep you fit.
You like TV?...fine when a commercial comes on do some push ups ect. It builds practical strength. Plus you have more time than you realize. No matter their size, I've seen multiple people who do this outmanuever those who don't.
It's so easy!... Yet so hard for people to buy into.

@Top Trending Running water is clear, ponds Settle. All that matters is that you move. It's cool if you can, but most people don't need the ability to squat Shaq. But those body mechanics are something you'll want to keep all your life. It's the simple things that matter.

I waste time playing video games so I make myself do 10 push-ups every time I lose before I can play again. Honestly I’m happy I found the drive and for me to keep this energy positive I scale it down to short term goals because 20 and 50 psyched me out before, but scale it down to 5 or 10 I can totally do. I’m at 150 a day and looking to get it to 500 by the end of week one. Short term goals like this for me is attainable and nurtures my motivation to still be there tomorrow and the day after

I try to do around 100 push-ups each day. Every two days, I do a 25-30 minute no-gym workout which combines push-ups, squats, butt ups and burpees. It's a killer workout that really works a sweat. I've been keeping this rhythm going for a few weeks, and I can already see the results. My shoulders are getting bigger, as are my arms. Great video. I subscribed. This conversation has to be repeated over and over. Biggest misconception is training to failure. I'm not saying not to do it ever but to test your strength maybe once a month is adequate. Other than that consistency wins over intensity any day of the week.

Started doing a 100 pushups a day in December last year. Getting up out of a chair and just knocking them out daily 25 to now 55 at a time, and now I'm up to 1300 a week. Sometimes I do 400 a day with a minimum goal of 1k a week. It creates that habit as mentioned and transferred into me getting back into running which has led me to drop my covid 30+ pounds and back to eating more healthy. Start small and create the momentum for change. Just be consistent, however small and the change will come.

I did 200-250 pushups in sets of 40 per day for a year. I now stopped as I find I was over working the muscle and losing recovery. It is however amazing to do for a year. I always do push-ups on chest day throughout the day to warm up the muscle and get more reps in.

I also have a pull up bar on the bedroom door that I need to just use every time I walk past it. Even if it's only one pull up. Good advice guys!

I served in the USS Navy back in the day. Life was super boring on a ship. While working throughout the day, I'd did randomly do 30-50 pushups/squats. Almost like a game. Then hit the weight room. I was in good shape. These "mini" workouts are great as an older busy adult. Calisthenics burn a lot of calories, functional, and easy on the joints. Also gives you muscular endurance for pushing out extra reps when lifting weights. Its like staying ready so you don't have to get ready.

Only weights I've touched are a light barbell and 30-35lb dumbbells for biceps & forearms. Also add neck bridges four days a week before bedtime. Beautiful, but need to give actual facts of what they do . 50 push ups is Short intensity = fast metabolic heart rate = metabolic phase ( calorie burning)
Muscle endurance + Muscle fiber tear over time creates more lean mass and definition in the muscle. Easy on joints , can develop both fast twitch and slow twitch fiber for athletes, builds relative strength in the push motions and depending on hand place meant can widen or condense Chest

This shit works! I also took into consideration of Joe Rogan's podcast with an interviewer who I forgot the name of. In summary, he doesn't go hard in his MMA / strength & conditioning workouts at all. He does everything with a good amount of effort without tiring or pushing his limits because he's going to do it again the next day and the day after, and in the end you ultimately lose hours in the art you're focusing on. Another thing is the book called "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I used his habit building method to do callisthenic movements everyday. For example: Do 10 pushups waking up, 10 Pullups exiting my room, 10 Squats going up the stairs, etc. You can make whatever works for you! These guys got it right.
