Every solution depends on so many factors, largely "what's available" in terms of skills, materials, money, time and inspiration. Thanks for sharing your constraints with your solutions.

Other thing to make it even more simple is using a spring to push on the anti-backlash carrier. Saw another video where the person did a similar thing but the spring can change tension along the entire lead screw. So, if one part is more worn out than the other parts of the lead screw, the spring tension would be able to take up the difference.
Still, cool solution to keep older equipment in check!

One thing you could do is cut the threaded section out of the leadscrew, turn it around and attach it back on. Then your cuts will be using the less worn side of the leadscrew. Might be good as new!

Knowing my luck (and lack of ability), it would leave me with a ruined leadscrew and no way of finding a replacement. Thanks for the idea though.

There are some very complex solutions to this problem available in the sidebar right now . This one is simple functional and tidy. I will be doing this on my Drummond B type.

Thanks for the compliment. Simple, functional and tidy about sums me up :-) As you pointed out, from other videos that are now appearing, that others might have come across my idea and made design 'improvements' (complications). I just came up with my version on the fly, from the same principle I figured out to fix my X-Y table.

I don't know about most folks out here in TH-cam land but I think this would have been a much better video if you had added the "audio" and explained your way though this process! You obviously came up with a good fix, but I HATE reading my way though videos, as a result I gave you a thumbs down.

Thanks for that. I can't do right for doing wrong. Being a non U.S. citizen, some people dislike our regional accent, so I chose not to drone on and irritate folks. For non English speakers watching TH-cam, the subtitles can be copied into Google translate for the chosen language, so everyone in the world gets to know what being described.

Thanks for your reply. I hope I didn't come across rude, as that was certainly not my intent. Having a hard time seeing these days, and having to read things quickly because of the time given, it's a bit frustrating having to read through a video.
      Again, Congratulations on your repair!
