The great majority of windshields are simply held in with just adhesive. Adhesive can be quite strong, especially when installed under clean room conditions. 3M VHB actually is used to hold in skyscraper windows and can also be used as the sole attachment method for enclosed trailer sides. You can have bad adhesives and bad installs which can lead to failure or can try to have adhesive hold beyond its limits, but when using proper adhesives you can build things almost indefinitely; let’s not forget mortar is at its core an adhesive linking concrete blocks together and has seen homes standing on these foundations for generations.
This is just a drop in the ocean compared to the knowledge in your comment, but the 3M number plate tape for cars is some really strong stuff. I know cars that have had the same adhesive on their plates for years with no issues.
The battery may be easily removable but it seems like it would be quite difficult to get to it without scratching or bending any of the pieces that make up the back.
Btw, if you add the contact "Abra" to your phone and go into the ringtones settings of the glyphs and set Abra to your custom contacts, it will unlock the music visualization in the glyphs setting. Its pretty fancy

Looking at the design I suspect adhesives were chosen for thickness, weight, and practicality. Screws would have been much bulkier and heavier. Plastic tabs would have added thickness. An adhesive is also the most practical for bonding disperate materials. Although there are some negatives in terms of repairability there's rwaosn adhesives are so ubiquitous from phones to car windscreens to even airplanes!

As a guy that used to design some of the first computer motherboards (not the very first, but close) I could still, back then hand solder components, and not need magnification. I owned a company that continued this design work, as things shrunk and shrunk, and my vision deteriorated. I fixed that with consultants of course, and various contractors. It's still amazing to me to witness what you can do in your videos. For me designing circuit cards, and hybrid chips was just a matter of magnification in the CAD system, but for you to do what you do... it's still just amazing. Have I said amazing yet? It's not really that interesting, apart from the led strips and covers for the exposed chip, it's pretty much the same. You can DIY your glass back phones to achieve all of this except the led strips.
note about the charging light, it turns off automatically so it doesn't waste power, in order to see the progress you have to shake the device horizontally.
This is the only phone that doesn't need a Dbrand skin 👍🏾 on a side note, kudos to Nothing for making their battery easily removable. More companies should really do this.
Its not easy when you need to take off the back glass, then good luck putting it back on while keeping the water protection. My LG v20 had a truly easily removed battery, it was a matter of pulling down on a back panel and swapping the battery. Nothing get no bonus points for their battery, it's still too difficult to replace.

I miss the old days where you could just pop the back cover off to get to the battery if you had to change it. Now they're all buried under so much stuff it's almost less of a hassle to just fork over the money for a new phone.

It shouldn't matter. Plastic doesn't interfere with electromagnetic waves. The only reason a case lowers the efficiency is because of the thickness and thus the coil being further removed from the charger. Seeing as how this seem to be as thick as paper, I doubt it does anything.

Yeah, phones are nearly all e-waste at this point. Even if you get some replacement battery by the time the battery is dead, it's gonna be some third party knockoff with a fraction of the capacity and you'll have to do some semi-destructive disassembly to get it apart. If governments wanted to be useful (they don't) and actually reduce waste to save the environment or whatever they pretend to care about, they would force all batteries to be user replaceable and even make them standard sizes so you don't have useless manufacturers that stop producing their batteries after a few years.
This is a very well built phone, it’s just that it’s TOO good. This is literally the apple of android in the way that it’s moderately to really difficult to repair. It is not as easy as just popping the display off to access the internals. Nonetheless this is a very aesthetically pleasing phone.
This phone is built pretty damn well, they use adhesive in all the right places, battery is held by easily removable adhesive, back glass is easy to remove because of how flat it is, it's just repairable minded built. i hope NOthing will get big and slap those big money phone manufacturer on the face, they really need one.
