      Internet warriors that know all the laws you guys are the best. Get off your SoCal keyboard and do learn how to be a positive member of society. If any of this snow flys off the rig it won’t break a windshield, it’s not like that sheet of ice you once saw on a TH-cam video that smashed the windshield. It’s fresh snow. It blows off the car like sand

  • @MattPlaysTooMuch
    @MattPlaysTooMuch 4 ปีที่แล้ว +105

    You need to fully clean your roof of snow before driving. If you suddently hit the breaks you will get all that snow on your windshield and you will have to stop in the middle of the road to take it of. Or drive without a view through the windshield until you can stop.

      Two years ago Virginia passed a law requiring everyone to clean the snow off the roof of their cars, crossovers, SUVs, trucks and vans. As a Disco 3 owner and fan, I enjoy all the films you do on it. Yes, it can be an expensive vehicle, but if you take on some of the maintenance your self it's not that bad. For me it's about the feeling of confidence the car gives and I think you sum that up nicely in the film. It's that feeling of being presented with a stretch of road/terrain or difficult weather conditions and being able to deal with it. I understand why you turned back early, although in the UK we'd say "you bottled it!". However, nobody wants to be stuck out all night in freezing conditions and possibly having to waste the time of rescue services. Thanks for the uploads.

      Snow on the roof CAN be dangerous if it flies off (who knows where) while driving @ highway speeds. I know it's a hassle cleaning it off, but it's doing the right thing for you and others. Leaving snow on the roof can be a hazard even if it IS legal to do so in a given state.

      I grew up in Colorado and I am smiling at these comments. Most of us whom spent as much time as I have in the snowy mountains would never take the time to clear all the snow off the roof. There are many other things more important to worry about in the snow than a little snow falling off my roof at a stop sign. Lol

      @@smarticus6384 Then you haven't learned much, either -- join the "Clueless in Colorado" club. The Initiation Fee is lower than most CCs (way cheaper than the ones in the Springs), however monthly dues vary: They're higher if you drive around with snow on the top of your vehicle.
      But really, what's so important in YOUR life that you can't take the extra few minutes to clear the snow? Absolutely nothing...don't kid yourself.
      Besides, you still don't get it: There's more to it than "some snow falling off your roof at a stop sign."

  • @nascarfreek23
    @nascarfreek23 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Under Colorado law you are required to remove the snow off of the roof of your vehicle before driving. It is lazy, and reckless. It is essentially an unsecured load on your roof. And if something happens and you need to stop it can slide down and cover your view of the road. Not to mention large frozen chunks can damage other vehicles.

    But it’s also responsible driving to know when to go back and not put others at risk rescuing you

    The music was a little too much, but that didn't really bother me.
    Please remove the snow completely from your vehicle if you'll be on any public roads, that is just being reckless.
    Don't forget what vehicle you're driving, this isn't the Tesla, he was looking down at the 4WD switch WAY too long while driving down that main road. If you need to look at the switch, do it while stopped. Again, reckless.
    This video was not up to the level of "professional" that they consider themselves to be. Worried about getting stuck? Why even leave your driveway? You have plenty of vehicles you could have taken with you to help had you gotten stuck.
    This was just an excuse to make more money. 3 minutes of actual snow "driving." The other 7 minutes and 3 seconds were just so you can make the maximum money with TH-cam's 10 minute policy.
    Very disappointing.

    The old Britt did an awesome job! I think she’d made it, but still good decision on Roman’s part to turn around. I’m ok with snow, but not with sliding, I go immediately into panic mode and lock up, many years ago my wife slid her Suzuki XL7 off the side of driveway in a 36 inch snow, she got out before it went over, but did around 8 thousand dollars in damage, the body shop we took it to did an awful job and we lost our tail when we traded it in on a CRV, this happened all because of a bad decision not to park at the bottom and wait for me to get home and carry her stuff up. Thank God she wasn’t hurt! Another great TFL video!!! Also sometimes a repair ain’t the way to go, take the loss and go get something else, a bad repair and a salvage title will kill you, but all we could see was it was nearly paid off, live and learn. Has the snow come back or do you live on so high altitude that it is normal for late April ?
    I know Denver Colorado and that it is part or close of the Rockies but coming from Europe it is not so easy to know how long winter stays there .... except I know you went up that *lin pass several times with the eGolf and a truck and the model X and a trailer I guess., where the pass had been pretty high altitude ... or higher than germans highest mountain at least

    You could raise the vehicle an additional 2inches by holding your foot on the brake and holding the height adjuster up for a few seconds. The vehicle will only do this if it senses that it’s bottoming out

    We Kind of enjoyed your video, we do miss Colorado, but they’re from 94 to 2005 Drove tractor trailer all those yours., and I drove from Conifer (8730 ft) to commerce city every work day, and never got stuck one day! By the way, I drove a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab “ 2 wheel drive”, Minnesota driving experience helped! Studded snow tires and sand weight helped! Also, driving like you have a “Brain In Your Head” really helps! Pushed a lot of snow with my front bumper! “ DRIVE SMART”!

    Should have carried on.
    You won't get high centered because the air suspension will go into "extended mode" to get you off an obstacle allowing you to back out. Read the manual 👍

    Hey guys, I would like to have an advice from you. Between LR3 and LR4, which is better and why?
    And talk about the two engines, the 4.4 V8 and the 5.0 V8 and the electronic failures and reliability on both cars... Please...

    • @Black-Villain
      @Black-Villain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get the LR3 if you're between the two of them IMHO. The LR4 is nicer and newer and more luxurious with better tech, but... The 5.0 has timing chain/guide issues, there's more electronics, and from what I can tell there's less DIY support out there for them. The LR3's 4.4 is quite bulletproof, the ZF6 trans is super stout if you change the fluid every 75-100k (they start acting weird around 140-175k if they've never had the fluid changed), and they have a large DIY community with lots of spare/aftermarket parts and guides out there

  • @fredbrackely
    @fredbrackely 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Guy's you chickened out. Pretty sure had you have brought Nathan along, you'd have been to the top and back. Don't forget, you have something called super extended mode, if the LR recognizes its bottomed out it will raise the suspension to full height. Usually another 1.5-2" of ground clearance.

    That music was incredibly awful. I had to mute it and use subtitles. I'm surprised the LR didn't catch fire or blow a head gasket. There's a good reason they are dirt cheap.

    Great job....you took it to the edge of your comfort zone then backed out. Most people get in trouble by pushing the limits far beyond the capabilities of themselves and/or their equipment. Pushing the limits is okay when you are with a group that can help you get out. Many novices get in trouble because they think that because they have four wheel drive, they are invincible. I am a retired trucker and it seems that during snowstorms, 4x4's are the first vehicles you find in the ditch. If you had a CB radio when one of these 4x4's goes flying by you will often hear truckers making bets as to how far they will travel before they find the 4x4 sitting out in the rhubarb.

    Very much how a bit of competence could lead to difficult to attain horrors but I enjoyed it- really crazy thing to do tho’. When they start to slide - it’s a 2ton sledge- and the road camber changes all the time - so whoosh!! Off to greater depths - but shows what can be done if you have to.
