When things are cheap, the cost of living is low and people can live reasonably comfortably even with low wages. That’s how an economy stays competitive globally. That’s also what is fundamentally wrong with the western economies right now. Things are already expensive in the western world and for some reason, central bankers in the western world, led by the Federal Reserves and the ECB, continue to insist that inflation is too low, and are intent on pushing the prices even higher from their current levels which are already exorbitant compared to what we see here in China. Should anyone be surprised that China has become increasingly dominant in the global economy?
Things in western expensive and the currency majority is higher, it make them harder to function as an exporter. Not much people can affort their things.

I am from Chongqing. Every year on Christmas or New Year's Eve, many people go to jiefangbei to celebrate by counting down the clock bells. The police were there to evacuate the crowd after 0 am midnight. I remember i did this when I was in high school which was 17years ago. I haven't been to jiefangbei to celerbrate New Year or Christmas these years, and most people are like me, so now there are more policemen than local people. by the way they won't check your ID card ,LOL, don't be afraid!

It's all about choices in terms of brand quality/price when clothing/shoe styles (men and wowen)are concerned. I've made my purchasing decisions years ago that I only need 2 types in life: either classic Italian designer gears Made-in-Italy, or quality Chinese counterparts without any brand Made-in-China, for both off the shelf and bespoke. Anything in between would be a total waste of money.

this is interesting, northen chinese always tranditionally using heating system during the winter, it seem that they cannot survive without them. but southern chinese are exactly opposite. they propably freezing to death still rarely consider to use heating system. perhaps hot-pot is good idea :)

Till now, I don't think foreigners would get Alipay and WeChat pay activated without Chinese banking service, such as Chinese banking account, Chinese credit/debit card or simply get a Chinese ID-like green card. Without these you even can not receive a red-envelop from your friends send you money in Wechat.

What I observe from your videos is that I havent seen any beggars in the street, no garbage. The streets are very clean.not even that crowded considering china's population
Well there are "beggars" in China, and now adays they use WeChat or Alipay to collect money too! But mostly these people are just scammers exploiting people's good will. So if you ever meet one, don't get guilt tripped into giving money. If you really feel generous, tip your delivery guy or the cleaning workers. They work really hard and often under compensated. (But you will most likely be rejected as tipping is never part of Chinese culture)
When the security is actually playing games with the population, you know that country is at peace.
Correct, that is why we need Security Law to punish HongKong gangsters.
