Good god I hope marina viotti and Gojira make a double album!!! This performance convinced some people that it’s the devils work 😂,, but I think many more that metal is here and will always be here. Some of the gasps and reactions from the commentators was awesome to hear. Also, thanks to whoever removed those annoying folks from this absolutely epic show. Albeit waaaay too short. Then again, seeing Gojira play for almost an hour and a half alls seemed too short.

I once saw a quite positive comment that said it's heartwarming that Kelly Clarkson as big a musician she is was impressed. She didn't even talk that much over it to be fair. I'm inclined to think it was less Kelly's fault and more whoever decided the narrators should be talking during the performances too LOL Should've just had them stick to the boats and interviews and save the reactions for when the performances were over.

Je ne comprend pas pourquoi nos médias mettent si peu en valeur le metal et le rock dans notre pays. Nous avons pourtant de sacrée tuerie comme ce groupe Gojira et les enfants des années 90/2000 ont appris la science dans une émissions dont le générique est le morceau "Boogie-Body" qui est tout aussi classe (avant de me dire que ça ne vous dit rien tapez ce nom sur TH-cam et écoutez....dès la première note vous allez comprendre) et nous avons aussi le Hellfest qui n'est pas un petit festivals !
La France a toujours boudé le métal, à tel point que Gojira a un plus grand succès dans les autres pays du monde qu’en France, c’est pour dire..
Mais beaucoup d’éléments expliquent pourquoi le métal ça n’a pas la cote en France
Les années 90 ont porté l’explosion du style aux US
Mais les US ont aussi été marqués par la fameuse "panique satanique" pendant ces mêmes années, ce qui a entaché l’image du métal au près du grand public qui à cette époque là était en grande partie très pieux.
Mais dans un sens, c’était justement ce que cherchaient les métalleux, le métal a toujours été un style qui s’est revendiqué marginal et anti-système; et forcément le public le plus friand de ce genre d’idées c’est les jeunes.
Mais si c’était que ça, le métal n’aurait sûrement eu aucun mal à se faire une place bien marquée en France; seulement, un style comme le métal, c’est un style auquel il est facile de faire porter la responsabilité des malheurs du monde, alors en fin de compte, à chaque fois qu’on parle du métal, on y associe que du négatif.
À cette époque c’était facile de dire des jeux vidéo ou de la musique qu’ils étaient responsables de la corruption de l’esprit des jeunes, et qu’ils n’apportaient rien à part de la violence, alcool, drogue, et sexe.
C’était utilisé pour justifier tout et n’importe quoi, jusqu’à être tenu responsable de tristes événements tels que la fusillade de Columbine par exemple, qui a marqué les US et le reste du monde, et qui a entraîné bien d’autres attentats dans les années qui ont suivi.
Je pense à Marilyn Manson, qui a été l’une des personnes tenues responsables de la fusillade.
Et si on ajoute à tout ça tous les divers scandales ou crimes commis par des artistes de la scène métal, tels que Mayhem, ou bien même du Black Métal qui a été sujet d’énormes controverses; et tout ça dans l’espace d’une décennie, ça a suffit à donner une image très sale du métal et qui a certainement tué dans l’oeuf tout espoir de voir le style devenir "mainstream" en France, puisque les médias n’ont eu cesse d’attaquer le style.
Puis le passage aux années 2000 ont définitivement laissé la place à d’autres styles musicaux tels que la pop ou le rap qui eux aussi connaissaient un très grand succès dans les années 90.
Avec des têtes d’affiches telles qu’Eminem au début des années 2000, ça a définitivement mis un terme à l’âge d’or du rock et du métal.
En soit, le métal n’est pas mainstream et ne le sera probablement jamais, le style aura toujours cette image du vilain canard, mais finalement c’est exactement ce que veut le style, et si le métal devait être aussi mainstream que le rap alors il en perdrait tout son sens à mon avis
