My uncles wife, play in the National Danish Symphony Orchestra on violin. I am very proud that she have played with Wardruna and Einar Selvik - cause i just love their music ❤️. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra do an outstanding job!
I attended Eivør's concert last night, and I wish I could experience this performance live again. Her voice is absolutely mesmerizing. Einar and Eivør definitely need to collaborate and embark on a world tour together. The world doesnt need charlatans, it needs you both. What you are creating is music at the highest level, thank you! Eivor, you are a goddess.
“It gladdens me to know that Odin prepares for a feast. Soon I shall be drinking ale from curved horns. This hero that comes into Valhalla does not lament his death! I shall not enter Odin’s hall with fear. There I shall wait for my sons to join me. And when they do, I will bask in their tales of triumph. The Aesir will welcome me! My death comes without apology! And I welcome the valkyries to summon me home!“.⚡⚡
while everyone drools over taylor swift and all the other industry puppets this is what a real and true performance looks like!! this is what real music sounds like! the old ways will never die!!
Making comparisons like these ones is such a lazy way to conpliment an artist. If you feel the need to tear down one to uplift another, I feel that is an insult to your favorite artists on a whole other level.
@@TakeABiteEve Agreed! More than one artist can be great at the same time. You can compliment the artist without putting another down. I'm sure Einar Selvik himself would not appreciate what you have written here
I don't like going to funerals for obvious reasons. The lamentation and sense of loss is so strong. However, the one thing that could make experiencing such a sad event bearable, and even inspiring, is if songs like this were played during such events. The power of this song as as conveyed through Einar's and Eivor's voices, accompanied by this majestic choir, just transports you to another world.
In Greece in Mani most particularly but also in a few other places, a choir of people lament the dead for days with rhapsodies about their life and deeds. This is called the Moiroloi. The Fate-telling. I witnessed this a couple of times in my own family and it was breathtaking. Old ladies sat around the usually open coffin sing & cry in mangled voices constantly without stop for hours on end, this eventually becomes a sound in and of itself like a psalm as they come to whisper their cries, occasionally a male member enters to pay their respects and sings their own lament on top or solo, a few of the singers are bound to be spectacular both lyrically and melodically. This traditionally goes on for at least 3 days and nights. The singers cry, beat their chests, move their heads, etc in lament.

i cannot wait to see wardruna live next year! i’ve been listening since 2018 and have always adored their music. it would have been so nice to see this live; i can only imagine the powerful feeling
Well done! The terror and torture of knowing I have plunged into the writhing pit, surrounded by the hissing and slithering of countless snakes. My heart pounded, each breath quick and shallow, while their cold, slick scales grazed my skin. Thank goodness this isn’t real, or have I already crossed into the realm of the dead? Nicely done. I really enjoyed the performance. Thank you!
I am currently learning Norwegian to be more in touch with my heritage, and I haven't quite learned enough to understand the words. But you don't need to. You can feel so much emotion in this, I can feel what they are saying and it is bubbling up so many emotions. I have this song on repeat, and each time I hear it, I tear up. It's an overwhelming feeling of grief, love, healing, and rejoice. This was truly amazing and so beautiful. I hope you guys will some day do a world tour and come to Canada!
