    I fucking love the performance of the actress portraying Freya when she loses her marbles and starts threatening Kratos. She's really scary. Baldur's actor is also amazing giving nuance to the character. That walk towards Freya is almost like a toddler.

    I mean, what a character. Baldur’s death made me cry. He wasn’t evil really. He never killed for no reason. He just wanted to feel again. He did so in the wrong way and blamed his mother to the point he’d kill her, but I still felt something for the guy, ya know?

      On top of that, his whole quest find Faye and get to Jotunheim was ultimately all for nothing.
      Odin likely promised to break Baldur's curse in exchange for information in how to get to Jotunheim. Baldur would have never figured it out, and even if he did? Odin was probably lying.

    • @AntiDegenerate1971

      Baldur did tell kratos during their first fight that he is not like Thor in the sense that he is not a mass murderer of giants. Odin was manipulating baldur with lies the whole time, I feel like Odin never wanted his curse to be removed because if Baldur stays invulnerable he can send him do his dirty work. But I don't think baldur had anything against giants, he was basically someone who was violated by both his parents.

    I think you were a little confused. The green arrows that Sindri gave us after killing the dragon were made of mistletoe. During the fight with the dragon Atreus' quiver strap was damaged and so Kratos used the tip of one of those arrows to mend the strap. We went to Freya's house to get Mimir's head reanimated and Freya told us to give her the green mistletoe arrows, because she said they were wicked and she destroyed them. Her true motivation was that she knew the arrows could break the invulnerability spell she had placed on Baldur. She didn't notice, however, the arrow tip that Kratos had used to mend Atreus' strap and so it was still there when Baldur punched the boy. That drove the arrow tip into his hand and broke the spell.

Right before he does it, he give Atreus a little head nod and then looks over his shoulder to signal the boy what he is about to do and he wants Atreus to follow him down. Anything involving Tyr in this game has to have some of my favourite things about the game. Mimir explaining and sharing knowledge of what Tyr stood for, and encouraging Atreus to follow in those footsteps as Atreus enjoys helping people. Even Kratos believes that Atreus should follow his heart, even if Kratos doesn’t share the same sentiment in helping people. But thanks to Atreus’ sentiment, and Kratos concern and care for Atreus’ well-being, I feel it’s taking a bit of influence on Kratos as well, although Atreus is the top priority for Kratos. Hell, Mimir speaking fondly and highly of Tyr, and teaching Atreus about him reminds me of two things. A quote: “Nearly all men can handle adversity, but if you truly wanna test a man’s character, give him power.” Definitely a profound theme that has a key role in Atreus’ story and character development. Once he found out he was a god, he went through an arrogant phase. But his moments of reflection in Helheim helped him find himself again. There’s a lot of profound visual reflection in this game. Visual storytelling carrying and representing a lot of profound themes, and many games nowadays have taken upon that. But I love how God of War integrated it so masterfully with the game design, gameplay, world design and cinematographic like lighting and camera movements.
    Overall, this game has a huge theme centred around growth, both for Kratos and Atreus, Kratos being a relatively more decent person, and raising someone to be a better person than he was, and Atreus for learning value of not only himself, but to honour his mother’s memory and inheriting her heart and sentiment for other beings. This summary/description alone I feel is the tip of the iceberg. There’s too much to their dynamic, and depth to their characters to explain just in this video. Atreus has also learned much from his own reflections, from his father, from Mimir, and those runes messages. A lot of them reflected on family uniting as one, how much weight is carried but willed on through that special attachment/gift. Value of teamwork, working together, how it helps overcoming things, a lot of valuable lessons/messages from this game, some of which I’ve forgotten about. Among the many, many things I love about this game 🎮 In fact, I love how this game involved and added so many details to the teamwork in gameplay, and in theme/messages too. I love it whenever a game does that. Most notably when Kratos and Atreus defeated Baldur as a team, with their impeccable teamwork shown with masterfully choreography that was shot equally masterfully. Hell, teamwork with Atreus in this game in general is another fantastic element to the game.
    All of Atreus’ character growth, and Kratos doing everything in his power to help him work towards him finding his own path, and a path of helping others, makes me even more excited for an inevitable eventually sequel. It’s honestly wanting to make me wanna play as Atreus all-grown up, seeing what path he takes, how he’ll follow his path. It’ll especially be excited for it to be on the PS5 🎮
    Yeah, those shielded enemies (and any shielded enemies in games) can kiss Captain America’s perfect ass 😂
    Inside the World Serpent’s stomach is probably one of the most visually disturbing, yet strangely beautiful settings I’ve seen in a game.
    I absolutely love the fights with Kratos and Baldur. Every one of them. The opening boss fight, their encounter at the top of the mountain, and their final one, especially with Atreus joining in on the action. Already hoping for more of that with the sequel. Only problem I really had with the final boss battle was with Freya stepping in. Not that I don’t understand why, I perfectly get why, but it’s just that it gets repetitively tedious when you’re trying to immersive and feel as flowing with the gameplay like you’d usually be, preferring to constantly be in motion in gameplay 🎮 But that’s just me, my take on it.
    But that conclusion, it really hit home, and captures a very profound, powerful theme/symbolism. There is a lot of visual symbolism in this game that reflects on a lot of themes, and that theme with Baldur’s death...is the theme of sacrifice. Sacrifices you might have to make in order to protect your loved ones. Not just sacrifice of another life, but the affect it has on the people connected to those who were sacrificed, the pain and impact it has on them, the families. It also shattered the bond between Kratos’ family and Freya’s. Sacrifice of another life may be the highest level of what a parent would do for their child. Whether the parent’s own happiness, health/well-being, or innocence, to sacrifice of another person or more people, or even a bond the child has if it means keeping him or her safe. It’s a very strong theme, cause sacrifice is something that’ll likely always hit badly for someone else. But not just to protect Freya, or even Atreus, but also to shorten the cycle of revenge and meaningless senseless violence, so less people get hurt. Kratos is using this lesson to teach Atreus to show what happens if you let things like revenge, greed, hatred, and superiority corrupt you, and showing Atreus that he needs to be beyond what Kratos and Baldur were. No matter what someone’s family history was, even if some things inside can’t change, people can ultimately choose how they want to be, to try and be better.
    Your gameplay here is absolutely superb! A lot better than how I played it. You definitely played it to a wider degree than I have, with those runic attacks, upgraded movesets, etc. Not sure which I prefer between playing the strong feeling/grounded combat system myself, or watching your gameplay of it 🎮 Already makes me wanna go back to replay it.
    Fantastic Let’s Play as always. I’m glad I could catch you playing the climax of the game, cause while the entire game is fantastic, it gets even greater and greater as it progresses, with such an incredible storyline with superb gameplay to boot. Definitely one of the best PlayStation games to date. Honestly became one of my favourites of not only the generation, but the brand in general 🎮 Not just for its masterful game-design, but equally masterful storyline/storytelling. I’m glad you love this game too 😊😇 I only truly picked up the true brilliance of this game when I last played before the end of 2019. But God of War is truly a masterpiece in practically every regard. Storyline, characters, writing, themes, game-design, gameplay, set-pieces, soundtrack, etc. 🎮 I’m super glad I managed to catch this video, and at least catch one of these before the game was finished 🎮 I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, and continue to stay safe and happy 😊😇

    Honestly I find it hard to forgive Freya too on this one. What she did to Baldur WAS truly awful and she absolutely could have taken the curse off him but chose not to no matter the cost. Even if Baldur wasn't killed and he left her alone he'd still NEVER forgive her and that's a cold, hard fact.

    Very emetionail moment in the game story after aderline filled boss fight, kartos makes the hard choice and one he dose not feel good about however it stop Baldur from making a big mistake. Kartos knows that a son killing one of his own parents changes everything and i belevie his still bad about killing his farther , Freya did what she thought was best for her son and was willing to give her life for her boy its a very sad story and shows that vengeance always ends badly.

    anyone else find it odd that fray wanted to get rid of the mistletoe arrows from Atreus instead of just using only one of them to break the spell she placed on her son. All he wanted was to feel things, to feel cold, hot, pain and pleaser and she could have broken the spell and reconnected with her son but instead she stuck to her selfish way. all because she didn't want her son to die ever

    • @LiteWeightGaming
      @LiteWeightGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She was terrified of the prophecy of losing her son and inadvertently was the one who caused it to come to fruition! But as a parent, losing your child is the most painful thing that can happen to you, so I understand on some level why she would want to do anything she could to keep him safe. Even if she was misguided and selfish in how she went about doing that

    • @LiteWeightGaming
      @LiteWeightGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I loved both of them but I think God of War is accessible to more people. It’s standard combat and gameplay. I thought Red Dead 2 was a masterpiece, but it was a LOT and felt like an art more than a game. Because of that, I’m okay with GoW winning. However, I think Red Dead was more deserving in terms of sheer work that went into it, but I don’t think as many people enjoyed it because of how intricate and complex it was!

    I’m Problay the only that thinks this but I wish baldur lived instead of Freya the only reason I say this is because she knew about the cure she didn’t give it to him because in hellhiem when her and Baldur were talking he was begging for her to take the curse away and she lies to him telling him that she can’t and all along she knew so I honestly think she deserved to die

    • @LiteWeightGaming
      @LiteWeightGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She fulfilled her own prophecy 😞. She cursed him because she found out he was going to die, but the only reason he had to die was because he went crazy with power and trying to find a way to end the curse so he became Odins puppet, forcing Kratos to take his life. That’s the crazy thing about prophecy in stories, in trying to stop it you end up causing it!
