- Hey, friends! Today, I've got an exciting Photoshop tutorial for you. We'll use the powerful Generative Fill feature. Before we begin, make sure you're using Photoshop version 25.0 or higher. We'll focus on creating stunning product photos using text prompts.
Here's a quick guide:
Import your product photo onto a blank canvas by going to "File" - "Place Embedded."
Adjust the size and placement as needed.
Enable the Contextual Taskbar via "Window" - "Contextual Taskbar."
Use the 'Select Subject' tool to select the main subject.
Invert the selection to choose the background.
Click 'Generative Fill' and enter text prompts. We used 'on a wet surface,' 'surrounded by rain,' and 'in front of a spotlight and strong shadows.'
Click 'Generate' to see the magic happen.
Photoshop's AI creates realistic results in seconds.
These tools are safe for commercial use, powered by Adobe Stock's extensive library.
The Generative layer allows further refinement.
Remember this format for text prompts:
Product: Describe your subject (e.g., perfume bottle).
Placement: Specify where it should be (e.g., on a wet surface).
Surroundings: Add extra elements (e.g., surrounded by rain).
Backdrop: Define the background (e.g., in front of a spotlight and strong shadows).

I have the problem that my objects are displayed totally distorted after the Generated Fill option. The edges were bent or parts of the object were cut away. The same is true for cropped people. In the first beta versions this was not the case and everything was ok. Only after the last updates this became more and more extreme. In the beta version as well as in the new Photoshop version.
Yes, low resolution is a limitation for commercial use.

Wow! great tutorial. You are explaining things in a nice way. I was struggling with witch Photoshop version to use the "generative fill", because I tried versions 23 and 24 and the "contextual task bar" was there and enabled in those two versions, and the buttons were working normally as in your video, but what wasn't working was the button of generative fill. It was disabled. Why is that? why not working on version 24?

Why does generative fill expand my selection of the product
It changes the subject. Totally distorted looks ugly. Any solve of this? If not this tool doesn't make sense for product visualisation
Nice explanation and video bro❤️👏👍❣️but the generated background using Ai is not to the expected quality that can be used for commercial purposes or printing, for social media’s its ok. The Ai is having a limitation of pixelated generations as of now, may be photoshop will soon fix it in the future update 👍

I sometimes get what looks like a white line between the edges of my subject and the generated background, is there a way of stopping this?
Save the image as a .jpg and verify if a white line appears in the saved file. This could be a Photoshop bug, which may not be present in the saved file.
