I wd cut my squares for the star legs at 18”; then sew 1/4” on BOTH sides of the line (instead of ON the line). Then you’ll need a lot less fat quarters bc you’ll get 2 star legs from each fat qtr. you’ll still be able to get a 3” strip from each fat qtr; and can add a little from the backing to finish out the borders. Also, buy a little extra backing and you can make the binding from that. If you’re using directional fabric, you can use the other triangle on the bottom of the star and it should still be right side up. You’ll also need less background fabric bc you won’t be wasting all those leftover triangles. 😊
Ohhh fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing. The Tim Holtz fabrics are stunning, but I know to buy them in Northern Ireland here they are pretty expensive. So whatever we can do to save on fabric is a must. Thanks for sharing these great tips. Lee :)
@CraftyLoops this is exquisite, but I can rarely afford to make a whole quilt from the expensive fabrics, so I use them as focal points only. I use good quality but less expensive background fabrics.
Love the pattern and fabrics. But, I would make 2 hst instead of having the waste and maybe make 2 projects! Yes, I know some of the “waste” is used for the border. This is a nice easy and fast project for a busy time of year. Thank you!
I totally would make 2 at once, slightly smaller but worth it, then purchase extra fabric for borders or use the rest of the fat quarters in a 20 FQ bundle for the border? Lots of possibilities! Love free patterns! Beautiful quilt! Thanks for sharing!
@@pamdavis1613 I was thinking the same thing about the waste. If you bump up your squares to 18” you would get the 17” HST. If you are using FQ’s you have the space.
I fell asleep watching TH-cam on TV and awoke in the middle of the night to this video launch . Loved the quilt immediately as is . Love the pink, mauve, taupes in the artsy fabrics and love the scrappy boarder . Gives it a boho vibe . I luckily was able to get all the fabrics listed in the pattern. Glad MSQC had the Tim Holtz fabric bundles left and the free pattern is easy to find on the MSQC website .
I used to do that also. The last time I used an ink pen it bled through when I pressed the block. Apparently, there was a spot of ink on the cut edge.😢
If you click on the first “Shop the supplies…” link in the description, you will see the link to download the PDF “layout”. That is actually the PDF pattern. Hope this helps!

I was thinking the same thing as I watched this ❤
Thanks for figuring that out.
Thank you for that. My brain didn't work as fast as yours to work that out.😊😂❤

It would be stunning in Christmas fabric

Me, too!! Making the 2 HSTs I mean.

@@julieedgecombe6087 exactly, but I tend to make throws less than 70” if I can, 17” blocks work also!
Thank you! Love your videos😍
You girls have taught me to quilt at 62🤓
What a great way to showcase fabrics you can’t bear to cut into small pieces!!! Beautiful!!!🥰
Your nail color is as beautiful as the quilt! Great tutorial. Starts my Monday off right.
This would make a pretty baby girl’s quilt!
I love this quick big block quilt at this time of the year ❤🎉
I would sew on both sides of the center line and make 2 quilts! ❤❤
You might want to fix the title of the video. It is Tim Holtz, not Tom Holtz.
Beautiful 😍 this is a great pattern, especially so close to Christmas! It can be made quickly! Thank you, Misty!!
Love this pattern and how it comes together! Beautiful!
Love this pattern ❗️
Love everything about this simple FS pattern and the use of all the fabric - the color, the scrappy border and binding. Thank you Misty!
Great tutorial of a beautiful quilt! 🤩 Thank you so much Misty😘

thank you for sharing so nice pattern, very useful.
Love the fabric line!
beautiful colors. admiration for keeping the horizontal design on the background fabric horizontal for every section.
Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thank you this is great
Lovely quilt Misty😊
Beautiful quilt
I love this quilt and want to make it! When will the background be back in stock?
I would make my squares at 17.5, sew .25” on both sides of diagonal line for my HSTs. It should work, right? Less waste, IMO
Спасибо🌹
A girl after my own heart. I also use pens, pencils and sharpies to mark, wherever they won't be seen.
I used to do that also. The last time I used an ink pen it bled through when I pressed the block. Apparently, there was a spot of ink on the cut edge.😢
I need a bigger mat🤪
Beautiful quilt❤please show the back please. Thanks Misty love your tutorials.
Beautiful quilt...this pattern seems to complicate a straightforward/simple design....i have been quilting 40 years
Why is the fabric warped or wavey? I don't recall any fabric looking like that in your videos before.
Is this part of the Missouri Star Quilt Company?
It is!
Misty Is a part of the MSQC creative team and Jenny Doan’s daughter in law . 😊

It would be nice if there were a moment where you were not standing right in front of the quilt behind you. We never see the whole thing.
OH MY!!! Fat Quarters are costing $ 3.75-4.25 each and background is $12.+ a yard. wasteful costly
