I've got a very fond memory of Taxco. Wonderful interaction with the street kids selling tourist trinkets. Nice day with a bunch of good children. Mike
I've been to Taxco. In fact, I spent 8 months there, betweern 1947 and 1948. I don't remember any sidewalks there to speak of though. Later I'd hear about the stairways of Taxco for years. 'Course I don't really remember much of anything from back then; seems that, about a month after my parents got back to San Diego, I was born. I'm sure we all had a wonderful time. At least, that's what I hear. And I'm sure that makes me a half-Mexican of some kind. And that's why every story needs a better ending. Because, now, I'm back home. And this time, I'm staying.
Wow, Taxco is a beautiful town. Even the Best Western looked traditional style. That is scary having the cars going down the narrow streets. Lori does make great sandwiches. She needs to open her own deli. It looks like a workout going up those hills. It is so fun to explore the markets. I love the Mexican silver. You forgot to put baby girls hat on for the car ride.
Wow. Glad you’re back. I just saw this video. I know of some who could have used your help. I’m still recommending/ suggesting others look at your channel And Lori’s book was a great read. Thanks for everything you both do.
Not that I know of. Experience any extra noises like fireworks but you never know. You would be more sensitive to that because your little dog is sensitive to it. One thing I can promise you Mexico is loud and they do have loud music and when they do the celebration they put off these rockets that are very noisy and annoying.
No matter where you are in Mexico, it will be louder if you live or stay in Centro and if you’re near a church. We live more in the country to avoid the fireworks because our old dog hates them.
Hi Jerry Brown Travels, I used to watch these 2 TH-camrs with around the same age as you, called "Life with Leighmans" that lived in Taxco, and then one day they just disappeared off everything including bitchute. Would you possibly know what happened to them? Their last video was "weapons of war" consisting of vaccines instead of guns.
Jerry I can't keep quiet any longer, you guys are being charged the "GRINGO" rates for everything The room you rented , including all taxes and fees is $88 US dollars, I know you don't speak Spanish , and look like 2 tourists from a mile away, and older folks, those things are the perfect storm to be scammed and charged more for everything, unless it is clearly marked like on a menu. $125 is nuts for that room, you can use airbnb easily on your phone or tablet, you could have booked a great place and entire home or apt , with a real kitchen and everything needed for under $70 US dollars a night, many are around $50. I saw how much you were spending a month and that is nuts. this entire trip should be about what NOT to do when traveling in Mexico. I like you guys but you are clearly being taken advantage of. You should have kept the camera running when the police stopped you. wave down passing cars, or people ask them for help make it uncomfortable for the police and public, that is how to stay safe and not fall victim to the corrupt ways of the Mexican police. when getting gas at the stations Do you get out and stand there , make sure the pump is reset and pay in pesos, avoid using CC. If you are going to help someone relocate to Mexico you need to be mindful of all these things, And have a good grasp of Spanish. People cannot truly enjoy what Mexico has to offer if you don't , sure you can stay in the "gringo" high priced communities and live in a bubble, Always paying more for everything or having to ask someone to translate for you, sure those apps help but , that is just what they do , help some. You guys drive around Mexico so you see wonderful things but miss so much by not assimilating as some many gringos do not. .For as long as many gringos have lived in Mexico and still don't know basic conversation they are ripe for scams and being taken advantage of. I know 1st hand as I have many many friends here in Mexico (gringos) who have been her for 5 or more years and need someone to translate for them, One thing which is more are more prevalent is housing prices for gringos , the cost to buy , or build or rent, there is the Mexican price and gringo price, Ex pats come here to save money in retirement but these expat communities are getting to be priced close to living in many parts of the USA. And is will continue to be more expensive as Mexico becomes more of a leader in production as China slows. As for you guys I will still watch each Friday , but this is just food for thought. I don't like to see anyone get taken advantage of, regardless or skin color. The other thing I see quite often is English speakers getting annoyed when the server or cashier, or real estate agent does not speak English, REALLY Mexico speaks Spanish, , be grateful when a Mexican has chosen to do something you have not, They learned a second language! Another thing people need to consider is what will you do living in Mexico when your husband , wife, partner die? Will you stay now being isolated and alone with a few friends if you have those in your community, what if you get sick or health declines , dementia sets in, No family in Mexico ? I have seen this time and again , the other partner really struggles being left alone with all the responsibilities of daily life. More food for thought. I hope my comments spark some conversation we all learn for different viewpoints.
First of all I want to thank you thank you thank you thank you for making this comment and taking out of your busy schedule and time to reply.. You're absolutely right we are wearing a big sign that says tourist, we have money, we are suckers we will fall for a scam etc. but the bottom line is we know that and we accept that and that's just part of our expense of traveling we experience this type of expenses even more traveling to other countries. I don't think we are unusual targets just the way we dress the way we carry our posture our body language screams out confidence , we are wealthy take advantage of us. They are saying behind our back's is guys are suckers they'll pay anything. And we accept that because that's just the price you pay to live out of your comfort zone and travel it may cost us 10%, percent or 20% more than a local traveler in their own country maybe we even pay 40% more but we accept that. We don't begrudge them we don't say we got ripped off or scammed we just say that's the price you pay if you wanna travel the world and we choose countries that we can afford and even though we are marked as tourist. We are not traveling in countries like Asia where we cannot afford those extra prices that I mentioned above we were traveling in countries like Mexico or Asia or our money is something that we have and we can afford to traveling. PS I think I'm going to make a video your comment in my reply someday. Forward to that video.
Sure you may accept being taken advantage of, but that does not make it right , nor is it ok. You are showing Mexico as a place who preys upon travelers, which happens in many countries to travelers, however you are offering advice to people wanting to visit or move to Mexico, do you then say expect to be scammed and overcharged because you will be and just need to accept it ? That is ridiculous. You answered a lot of what I highlighted by you not mentioning or answering them. You do a complete disservice to anyone who really is thinking of moving to Mexico and not highlighting the most obvious, The language barrier. Without knowing some basic conversational Spanish, people then are put in a severe disadvantage, they don't get to fully enjoy the culture people or life in Mexico. Sure you can live a nice life in an Expat community, higher cost of living then other places in Mexico, and be surrounded by other expats, and rely on others to navigate the interactions of Mexicans for you. You know this by living in Chapala/Ajijic area, high home prices, more for services, traffic congestion, etc,, its become an Ex Pat bubble in Mexico, I love the place don't get me wrong but most living there mingle with other expats because of the language barrier. If expats learn Spanish then the live a better fuller life, and are able to navigate the "GRINGO" prices, because if people like you accept them , then it tells other Mexicans who deal with ExPats it's ok to overcharge or take advantage of foreigners which is never acceptable , you become enablers.
I've got a very fond memory of Taxco.

Glad you enjoyed it

Wow I would love to see photos from that time. In some aspects I bet Taxco hasn't changed at all, but in others I bet it changed a lot

Glad you like them!
I´ve been to Taxco. It has no sidewalks and you have to be a mountain goat to walk the steep hills. If I ever go back there it will be too soon!
Thank you for subscribing for over three years now. You are the greatest.

Hi Jerry , Hi Laurie . I will be travelling with a small dog . Are there fireworks daily in Taxco ?

Yes this is also a concern for us as well. 🐕 ❤

I'm sorry I have no information to help you. Thank you for subscribing to a TH-cam channel.
