Thanks Tommy the fishing season is finished now and looking forward to a new one starting. I hope that your festive season is a good one and tight lines for next year Cheers Iain. 🥃
I once had a salmon go through my legs three times at Upper Redgorton Peter .. I did record it and its in one of my old videos from about 5 years ago when I first started salmon fishing a friend went to net a beautiful springer for me and whacked it on the nose and off it went. I think it was about the third fish that I had ever hooked. He nearly had to walk home. Cheers Iain. 🥃
once the rain went off Barry it turned out great. The bit I never showed was Jemma made us bacon rolls with our Tea . Just the thing we anglers need Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi Toby It was a great day once the rain went off .great company helps on a day at the river. I will need to see if I have enough to any everyone on the last day and may have to add yourself catching the biggest tree 😜 I have an appointment that may keep me from the Helmsdale hope to catch up if I can. Cheers Iain. 🥃 Ps still got my wee dram and may keep it for my next fish celebration Cheers Iain. 🥃
@IainSB I only go for the biggest trees. If I don't see you at Helmsdale I will see you at Tulchan. Glad you are savouring the dram hope it's a big fish that you get to open it for.
Another great day out Dave. I think that I had been writing my Christmas cards and wishing everyone all the best for 2025 and it must have been stuck in my small brain... Just wondered if yours had arrived 🤭 Cheers Iain. 🥃
it was a cracking day John I don't like fishing in the rain that much and was glad that it went of. The company that I have to contend with on the river bank leaves a lot to be desired 😜 Cheers Iain 🥃
I never fished it on that occasion Philip. I did however tail a fish that we reckoned was about 20lb in the home farm pool. I do have a video of that day on TH-cam if you were to go to my uploads you will find it. I have found the link if you want to view. Cheers Iain. 🥃 th-cam.com/video/5jteJy0F58k/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
I think that that next to most rivers you find roads. It seems to have always been that tracks were made years ago to follow the contours of the rivers and most humans like to find an easy way of organising the transport system. I have fished in a lot noisier beats. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Ian, I'm an avid Salmon fishing Yank. I watch lots of Scots fishing videos and i think you're catching more fish this year. I always hope for the best for mom's homeland.
@@IainSB How do you know that, Chief? That's something you don't know, how many fish there are in the water. Maybe in places like the N Esk where there's a fish counter and scientists doing research you can get a fair estimate. Otherwise, your thinking maybe wishful. You only fish where and when you fish, you're not covering whole catchments and you're only there for short periods of time. How many fish over 20lbs did you see caught this season?
when you fish the same water year in and see the numbers of fish in the pools also the ghillies seeing more fish is a good indication but the best one was walking some of the beats at the end of the season and seeing the amount of reds that have been cut. In one of the pools that I have fished for over 30 years I saw 34 reds cut when over the last 10 years I was lucky to see 8 cut. and there were still salmon ready to spawn. on this same beat over the last 10 years there were only a few spent salmon. to be seen. In the middle of November I counted dozens and I had the same reports from other beats on the river. There were a greater amount of large fish seen both dead and spawning this year but a lot of the large fish did not seem to be wanting to entertain a fly
@@IainSB You haven't quantified or put a measure or figure on that for whole rivers...you've got "numbers," "more," "amount," "30 reds/1pool," "dozens kelts," "large fish." I got the official mandatory Catch Returns released into the public domain years ago after they were kept "private and confidential" since 1952. That's not the last word on it, but I reckon you and your gillies only have one pair of eyes each and they're shut 1/3 of the time.
Nice one Iain... that was a lively take and fight... Great to hear that reel scream! 😉👍 Cheers James 🥃
Awesome video. Congrats to the fish. 👍👊

Well done Iain, loved it when the salmon 'nutmegged' you, I was sure the ghillie was going to knock it off at the net, glad he didn't!!Cheers Peter 😂

Iain you forgot the bottom eye 😄. Too excited to get started, been there done that.
We’ve all been there 😂 usually the top eye I miss ,
@@200degrees. At least with the top eye it's quicker sorted 😀
I wondered who would be the first to spot it. Well done Bruino. I did get it sorted quite quickly Cheers Iain. 🥃

Like to hear that reel sing Ian well done mate!!!!
There are a few that complain about my noisy reels Derek but I think most anglers love to hear a fish take line and I am a big fan Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video again Iain, great watch for a dark winter night well done both! . Are you a time traveller - title = 2025???

Hi Iain. Did you fish Home Farm. It used to be my favourite Tay pool next to the Point Pool just above where the Lyon comes in. Cheers Phil

Looks nice but sounds like you’re fishing on the motorway!

I think this year there have been more fish in most of our rivers Robert. Thanks for having a look at your ancestral homeland rivers Cheers Iain. 🥃

Observations can be good and I know the things I have seen over the years and have a brain that can compare
Well done Iain , that sounded like a lot of fun out there , have a merry Christmas and we can catch up next year 🥃🎣cheers
It was rather a late night at the Christmas lunch.......... all the best and definitely catch you in the new year Cheers Iain. 🥃
