I really have received a ton of knowledge watching your video's I was a jack Daniels drinker for a long time and you have opened my eyes to a whole new world of whisky. Thank You
I just bought a bottle of Aberlour 18Y on the way back from Singapore. They have quite a nice collection of whisky at the airport duty free shop. I agree with the video on most of the aroma and taste. It is a very intense whisky, yet, that strong taste at the beginning kicks in very nicely. It's like a huge guy comes in opening the door very quietly, and then dance like a girl. Yet the floor still shakes a little. This whisky is definitely has its individual characteristics. If it's 5-10 years later, I would still say, "Aberlour 18Y, that was a good whisky, rich and intense, yet smooth like silk.
Absolute Great Review, and I have the same thoughts about the addictive nature of this whisky. I've even taken a little A'bunadh and added to it for a bigger kick. *Wonderful*
I just re-visited this bottle tonight. I have about half a bottle left. Honestly it has been more flavorful a year later now that it's been able to breath. When I first got this bottle I shared it with friends. At first it was a quick note of peach, orange, dark chocolate with a nice spice at the end. Today It's overwhelming of orange peach, still has the burn, a strong smell of honey and a strong taste of sweet honey. The Dark Chocolate is still there but its not as strong as it was before. It's for sure a good one to drink. After the first two sips it just gets better. Hard one to set down. Make sure to always drink responsibly.
Great review!!! I’ve had the A’bunadh & 12 year... loved them. I will definitely have to get the 18 year now! Sells for $135 here in Ohio but I’ve seem it as low as $100.
My neighbor brought this bottle over last night, we had 2 pours each. Fantastic whiskey. Unfortunately the price here in Ontario is around $150 and very limited.
when are you in Scotland next? Love to go for a few drams with you haha :) I love Aberlour A'Bunadh with water, Glenfiddich 15, and a Glen Moray. As you can see I absolutely love a Speyside. Nathan from Manchester
Hi Horst...what is your opinion "medically" about CIGARS and whisky??? Having tried this pairing lately , I am leading to try it more often. Thanks always for your great videos!
The last time I bought this I paid $105 for it. I thought it was a very good value then. Now it selling for $130. Not as good a value now (higher prices doesn't make the whisky taste any better), however, relative to some other 18 Year Old distillery bottlings it is price competitive. I will note that Highland Park 18 is $10 less and I feel it is a better whisky than the Aberlour 18. The Aberlour 18 is a very good sherried single malt, though perhaps a bit one-dimensional. That said, I like it and will most likely buy it again.
Hello Horst. I am looking to buy a bottle of the Aberlour 18 now here in 2019. Do you think the quality is still the same as when you reviewed tish one back in 2014? I have been hearing many reviewers stating the quality of all sherried whiskeys going down because obtaining quality sherry casks has become a problem now in 2018-2019.
Just had a sip of Aberlour 1966, 30 year old sherry cask. £2000 down the drain. Should've stick to Glenfarclas family cask. There is a reason the price is less. The artificial colouring leaves a distinct taste.
If you really like whisky, you're going to like just about everything that's not bottom shelf swill. But there are plenty of bottles that Horst says are "not so good" or that are too peaty for him. So no he doesn't like EVERYTHING. But he also doesn't review many bottles whiskies that aren't at least good quality.
This is my favorite review, and I’ve watched hundreds of Horst!

This 18 years old is damn good, beat many other wellknown brand.
Having a glass now. Its amazing. From start to finish

I fell absolutely in love with the 18 years old Cask Strength at the distillery tour, but the actual 18y comes really close to it

He is in love!
Is the mic in your mouth haha...Honest the best review ever :)
I found this just now at a small Mom n Pop store by me for $134 USD. I may have to buy 2 now.
Unlike other brands the 18 year Aberlour is head and shoulders better than their 12 year. Well worth the extra money.
Remarkable

BEST REVIEW EVER
I'm getting a bottle of this. In South Africa it goes for R1 399
Great review. How does it compare to the 16YO. Given its double maturation I expect the 16 to have a more pronounce sherry influence? Thanks
+dhsilv2 how does the 18 compare to the 12? I love the 12 and am considering trying the 16 or 18
